Hi there,

I am new to this site .

I have endo and had a lap in Dec 08. I had spots of endo on my stomach wall but no where else so I think it is mild? I also had PID which was apparently caused by the endo. The lap has worked and have been relatively pain free, although mild everyday pain is starting to return now :(

My question is that I have been on the pill for 9 years and am starting to hate it. I have tried countless pills and find that I always have side effects on every one which I hate (weight gain, moodiness, heavy periods on some, migraines, no libiodo!)

We are thinking about TTC maybe in about 12 months or so and am thinking about coming off the pill now to see what kind of cycles i have (they never used to be regular) and am also thinking about trying natural remedies to help with it. I am just unsure as I dont want to make it worse by coming off the pill but am sick to death of it aswell. I also want to know I have regular cycles etc before we start ttc but dont want the added stress of trying to sort out any of those problems while ttc iykwim.

I should prob see my gp but a previous gp basically told me that it was absolutly stupid of me to even suggest tyring natural remedies and that i have no option but to stay on the pill (no longer my gp now though!), I guess I am bit scared about what they will say

Just after any advise from anyone that has experienced the same thing - do natural remedies work or am I being crazy and just stick it out until we are ready to ttc?

Thanks :)

Hi Sunnyd,

I am new too so welcome! I was in a similar position to you, I had an ectopic pregnancy in Nov 07 which was removed by lap where they also found quite a few spots of endo. Straight afterwards they recommended I go on the pill – I had previously used the coil but as it had partially contributed to the ectopic I wasn’t allowed to use that again. I have never really got along with the pill nor hormonal methods of contraception either, have tried lots of pills and also had depo injection for 5 years, but have always suffered bad side effects. After a few months back on the pill and all the usual symptoms I decided to come off it as I thought the endo symptoms couldn’t be worse than how I was feeling and that was in Jan 08 and whilst my periods are a bit more painful I like feeling more in control of my body and with the help of natural remedies I have alleviated a lot of the endo symptoms.

Saying that you have to do what feels right for you and every case of endo is different but I have found making some lifestyle changes has been enough to help ease the pains. I am hoping to start ttc in July and for the last year and half we have been using condoms which whilst not ideal isn’t too bad as long as your other half is also happy with the arrangement. I have also liked it as it has given me the chance to get to know my cycles and understand when you are fertile etc which will help when it comes to ttc.

I’d try not to be put off by your last GP who sounds a bit old school in his approach and make an appt with your new one to discuss it.

Hope that helps a bit.:)

Hi Sydney2021, thanks heaps for your reply :) you sound like your in a similar situation to me.I ended up going to my gp yesterday who was all for coming off the pill, he said I cant be on it forever and its better to sort out any possible issues before ttc. He also said that he isn't expecting for the endo to get worse coming off it which is such a relief to hear. The pill and me have never really got along so I am so glad to be coming off it now :) just hope my cycles are somewhat regular though but I will just have to wait and see. Good luck with ttc :sunshine:
