My son is 2 and 2 months old, I am due to have another baby in 12 weeks time.

DS has never been interested in using the potty or toilet training until recently he has started to tell me after he has done a wee and was telling me when he had done a poo up until 2 weeks ago when he would run and hide behind the curtain and i ask if he is doing a poo and he says no but i know he is doing it and i check after and he has. He points at the toilet and says thats where poo poos and wee goes like mummy and daddy, is this a sign that he wants to be toilet trained ? I was going to wait until next summer to deal with it and just let him explore at his own speed, so should i put a potty out for him and see what he does ? Do other kids run of to do poos ?

You could try it...

Personally I think I'd wait till Summer.... and just let him go nude.. ditch the nappies altogether... either undies or nude.

But that's just me.

And my 21month old knows when he's weeing and pooing and where it all goes too.. but I'm just not ready to deal with all the 'accidents' and extra washing in winter.. :o

He can wait till Summer.

I'd give it a try right now, because it will be a lot harder after the new baby arrives. By the time #2 is six months old and things settle a little, #1 will be almost 3, which is very late for TT.
Try it now, while you can.

I'd give it a go too. At least introduce the potty to him and see what happens! At least he'll get the idea. My ds was on and off the potty for about 6 months before I "really" tried toilet training and I found he caught on really quickly and was fully trained night and day within a few months.

Sorry, but this made me smile. Lots of kids TT at around 3 years old. Perfectly normal, not late. OP - please don't stress if the TT doesn't happen until bub is out of the crazy newborn stage...it's worth a try now though if you're up for it:)

hi there! Id say give it a try as well! I was in a similar situation to you- except my ds was 20 mo when dd arrived. Id started tt about 18 mo, very casually (sitting on the potty, letting him run naked for a while... etc.) he was out of nappies (during wake time) at 2. Now at 3 he is totally out of nappies - even over night!
So it can be done!

good luck with everything!
