Hi guys... I'm 27 weeks pregnant and last night after dtd I noticed some spotting that was quite red. There was only a tiny amount of blood but being a worry wart I am worried.
For the last couple of hours after dtd I've had very uncomfortable bh's that are about 5 minutes apart. Bh's themselves for me are pretty normal and some nights I'll get quite a few, just they've never felt this uncomfortable but that might just be my paranoia.
Also, I'm rh negative, but I'm not sure if this means I need to go to the doctors for an anti-d injection.
I understand that spotting after dtd is reasonably normal... But with my other concerns above, does anyone have any advice?
TIA

Kind of sounds like how my labour started with DS. Maybe just give the hospital a call & chat with them. The midwives/nurses should be able to give you some advice.
Good luck! :)

I was worried someone would say that lol. But the contractions would be more painful right? What I've got now is certainly stronger than normal but I wouldn't really call them painful >.<
There's no more blood now as well so that's a good sign right?

I'd call if your still getting the contractions, just to be on the safe side. If not then I would say it would have just been BHs. The blood could just be a result of your partner knocking the cervix, causing some blood to come out.

Well, my one & only labour was not exactly text book, but my contractions were not much different to BH's to begin with.
I actually just re-read your post & have to admit that I initially read your post as 37 weeks, so I apologise if I sounded a bit casual about it all!!
If it were me, I'd sleep on it & re-evaluate in the morning to see how things were, although if I was at all worried, I'd give the hospital a call. If you've been having BH all along & you've just had a bit of spotting that's now stopped, it may well be nothing at all to worry about.

Thanks girls. I've calmed down a bit now and bubs is still moving which is good, and there was no waters or anything so that can only be good.
The contractions are still there but each one doesn't last as long as before so that's gotta be a good sign right?
Thanks again girls, I think I might wait and see what happens in the next hour.

How're you going now? :)
I sympathise, I've had a scare today too but mine was caused by a less pleasant reason (straining on the toilet due to bad constipation :o). I had quite a bit of a blood smear and some blood in the bowl, then about 20 mins later some brown discharge started to come out which looked like the beginning of a period. I totally freaked out and called the delivery suite (I am only 20 wks). They told me to come in and checked the baby's heartbeat which was fine and the cervix which looked completely closed. The midwife told me that this happens to many women, she sees it all the time, some bleed and have bh until the very last weeks of pregnancy. She said that a bleed would be considered "bad" if one pad got soaked with blood in an hour.
Anyway, hang in there and if you are even slightly worried call the hospital, don't be embarrassed, that's what they are there for!
I used to get spotting after DTD, sometimes.
And the really strong bh's, too. Especially more so with my 4th pregnancy. The bh's were really strong and uncomfy sometimes.
If you are worried, go and get it checked out. But I found if I didn't do too much afterwards, it all settled down within a few hours.

Spotting after sex is within the realm of normal in most cases, and so are the contractions/braxtons.
If it worries you, then next time try asking your partner to wear a condom or pulling out before he ejaculates, as it's usually his semen that sets off the reaction.
I usually get very strong braxtons and quite a lot of pain for a few hours each time after having sex, but since using protection and making sure no semen gets near my cervix it's been AOK.

Hey ladies thanks again for the replies.
I ended up sleeping on it and woke up feeling much better. No more blood which was great of course.
My main concern was getting the Anti-D shot but I went to the doc the next day and got it and it was fine.
So for the next few days I've been told to take it easy and no sex for two weeks. I think next time we try to dtd we'll be a bit less 'energetic' about it... and at least now we know our limits.
