A bit off-topic but it reminds me of something ....

A number of years ago, when I was still living at home, I remember my mum getting a letter threatening immediate legal action if she didn't pay the outstanding amount on the phone bill. This was very confusing as we all knew it had been paid - it was direct debited and we had the receipt and everything.

We called them up and asked them what was going on. It turned out that either the bank (or the accounts department) had stuffed up and undercharged her. Of course no one told her that. So we asked for a bill to be sent out for the amount outstanding.

The amount they were going to take her to court for? 10p. That's, what, 30c?

The cheque cost more than the bill ...

We have set up a periodical payment through internet banking - every week $40 goes onto the phone bill. It's not a direct debit, so it's easy to cancel or change the amount! (wasn't quite enough to cover my last bill of $400 oops  ) Usually we are in credit.

Hehe Jess - well done.. I got mine yesterday and it was $11.53!
The system is working!!
I pay $20 a fortnight onto mine - this bill would have been in credit if cheeky Telstra didnt add their last bill on my Optus account lol.
