Ladies,
Don't know if this is the right place to post, didn't want to post in breastfeeding section because I dont want to hear advice about how I should be breastfeeding when it was hard enough deciding not to. Bubs has bad reflux so I do not want to continue breastfeeding.

I tried twice to dry out my breasts and failed, was in extreme pain. Dr gave me tablets I need to take for 14 days along with Panadeine Forte for pain. the pain has improved during the day, however at night I cant sleep as they hurt everytime I move or roll over.....when will they stop hurting??? what can I do to make them soft again? I know that if I try to express my body will produce more so I try not to do that. But if I leave them as they are I cannot sleep and function properly.!!! I'm going crazy:hair: I'm sick of the pain.
I've been told to wear a tight bra, but that is agony, I'd rather give birth again, so instead a just wear a fitted singlet.
I want to feel my normal self so I can concentrate on my baby please help me!!!

It can be very tough and painful,

I also regretably gave up b/f after months of issues.

You can express, the trick is to express just enough to make it comfortable. Then your body will gradually slow down the production of milk. It took me a good three weeks. But it would depend on your supply.

I wouldnt worry about wearing a tight bra, etc. Just express, gradually dropping how much and how frequently and you will find your supply will decrease.

Hope to help.

Em

thanks Em, you always wonder if you are doing the right thing or wrong hey??? Just thought I could speed up the process so I can get some good sleep...lol
Anyway that's what I've been doing late at night before I go to bed, I get into a warm shower and massage them and sometimes a bit comes out and they soften just so I can get some sleep....oh and I feel so weird and emotional!! I'm a mess really so just want this couple of weeks to go quickly so I can concentrate on the boys..

Anyways thanks Em

I found that I was more emotional when I was giving up b/f and what not. i think it is because it is such a hard decision and then having to deal with the milk going and everything, it really messes with your hormones!!!!

The shower sounds like a great idea!!!

Best of luck with those 3 boys!!!!

I found the hormones in those tablets also made me very emotional, or so my DH told me:cool:. I just took one and that was it. I remember being really uncomfortable for a couple of days then it got much better. Hang in there, I gave up BF twice because of reflux, and it was the best decision for both me and my boys.
Good Luck.

Apparently taking an antihistimine will help dry up your milk... so things like cold and flu tablets or sinus congestion tablets, seeing as they are designed to dry up mucous.
