Hi, I'm Isabella and I am 17 years old. I am due to give birth in March. I was wondering if any of you young mothers out there would like to offer me some advice on which birth option to choose and what option your doctor thought was best for you? Any help or comments are much appreciated. Thanks

CONGRATULATIONS on your pregnancy, i bet you soooo excited.
I first chose to have my baby at the birthing center (drug free) at the hospital were my doctor had referred me to, but evern though that was my chose, i when 14 days overdue  and had to get enduce so i ended up having my baby in the main hospital, And had gas and an epidural (so much for doing it without drugs). So sometimes its good to leave your options open, definatly have your prefrence but, just take it how it comes, i found the midwifes that are at the delivery great.
Enjoy your pregancy, i know its seems ages away but before you know it the time will be here for your bubs to enter the world! All the very best :)
Congratulations on having a birth to look forward to! Many young women I meet choose midwifery care over obstetric care because there is less discrimination from midwives - particularly independant midwives. You're perfectly healthy, you don't need a surgeon (that's what OBs are), but you will need a lot of information and support as do all pregnant women. I'm happy to chat if you want to PM me! Birth support and information is my business :D

hi,
congrats on your impending motherhood, it's a rollercoaster! i had just turned 21 when i had my son. the best advice i can give is to be informed go to your hospital birth classes and find out about all the different pain relief options, i managed to do it with just gas, which was my plan :)
there is so much out there so look on net, talk to other mums and be comfortable with your decsision, my friend didn't go to any classes and had a lot of troubles in the birth.
i guess it's also about your pain tollerance and determination. it's quite a nice feeling to know you did it and to be there wholely (not drugged out) is great. also benefits for you bubba too. but go to classes and read lots.
p.s. i had a water birth, was great if you can get a place to do it :)
all the best

Hi and congratulations.
I had my first baby when i was 18 and second when i was 20.Now i have heard there is an age limit to certain drugs used during birth but im not sure if its 16 or 18 so you might want to look into that if your not going to be 18 before the birth as you might need your mum there to consent to it.Definately try to go to the birth classes as i didnt and regreted it while i was in labor as i didnt know what to do when it came to pushing.Look into all the options in pain relief theres lots of information on the net.Just remember that birth is unpredictable and may not go the way you want it so keep an open mind about it all.Good luck.
