I am having some issues with my BB hemp.
Firstly:
They almost always leak, especially around the legs.
I have the BB wool cover, and pul cover. I also use a Tots Bots pul cover which is great and doesnt leak as often. But still does sometimes.
I am washing my pul covers as often as my nappies cause of this.
I am changing DD every 3 hrs or less and its still leaking.
Any ideas??
Secondly:
They are soooo bulky on my DD, she is 11kgs and has to walk funny cause they are so bulky with the 2 inserts in. Let alone when i use them over night with the BB bamboo booster!
I have brought some Bumgenius which are GREAT didnt leak, even after 4 1/2hrs!! And they are sooo trim.
So while they are so bulky on her i dont see how they will fit my new bubba very well at all. :(
So unless i can come up with a solution i will be selling most of them, i brought 12!!!!
Anyone interested in purchasing some as new BB hemp????

Do the covers fit properly? Are the nappies tucked inside properly each time?
Mine never leak unless ive forgotten to tuck in the edges of the nappy so the cover is completely covering it as its meant to.
My DD is 10.7kg and she fits them fine so not sure about the bulkiness problem!
DD wore a cover that was a bit big a few times and it leaked every time, but with the correct fitting cover and on properly I've never had any problems
Others wlil probably have better tips for you sorry!
If you do decide to sell, I'm more than interested but hopefully you can figure something out to make them work for you! Pm me if you decide to sell tho :)

forgot to say... with them ftting your new bub, I dont really like them for NB's, DD is 7 weeks old and is 4.4kg and they still seem big on her even when folded down, I just use terry flats on her atm til she fits a bit nicer in the BB's
the small covers are GREAT over flats and on newborns you dont need to pin or snappi them.. the cover holds thme in place :D

How many times have the nappies been washed?
Hemp can take up to 10 washes to become really absorbant.
Is it possible that you may have added a little too much washing powder? This can affect the absorbancy too.
As the Charmzy said, are you tucking in the frilly bits around the legs?
A well fitting cover PUL or wool is what is needed. Even mine leak when I have forgotten to tuck in the frilly bits.
Failing all that contact Davina, she may have some more info or tips for you to try.
Dont go getting rid of them yet....you will eventually no doubt love them and regret getting rid of them.

Kate, I never knew that about too much washing powder! learn something new every day :D
Contacting Davina is a GREAT idea, shes absolutely lovely and always willing to help :D
I'm not sure if you are new to cloth but sometimes ppl get used to the ultra trimness of a disposable so when they change over to cloth it does in comparision look bulky, then you get used to it and love the nappy bum. BBH shouldn't leak, definately don't get rid of them, can you ask someone else to show you how they put it on? Try Davina, she is great and will help you out as much as she can.

I must admit when I first moved over to cloth nappies I freaked out a little at the "bulkiness" of them compared to disposables. Takes a little adjusting in your mind set, but is worth it in the long run even my DH has converted over to using them (this comes from a man who not so long ago said he was happy for me to buy them but he would still be using disposables). Oddly enough he prefers to put the fitted with snaps and a cover on DD than a pocket....go figure????

Thanks girls,
Well i have 2 different sized covers BB med PUL and wool, and BB Large wool. And it leaks on all of them.
But i do have a tots Bots size 2 cover and it doesnt leak as often but still does occasionally.
It is all tucked in, that was one of the first things i checked.
I dont think im using too much detergent, as im using a 1/4 of a scoop for the nappies load.
They have probably been washed about 8 times.
Im not too worried about the bulkiness except it makes my DD walk funny which is not good for her hips, this is why i had to TT DS at 2yrs cause the disposables were doing this also (doctors orders).
I have aready contacted Davina and she cant understand why they are leaking either.
I have a Nappy friend LOL coming over tomorrow, i will get her to have a look and tell me what she thinks.
Arrgggggg!!!! :banghead:
I never had leaking problems with BB, but half the reason I got rid of my fitteds was the bulkiness of them. My pockets are still bulky when boosted up for overnight, but during the day they are lovely and trim. I hope you find the answer to your leaking problem soon.
its going to be something simple.....:detective: Don't give up!
I haven't had a problem with my BB hemp or bamboo leaking, in fact I am using the bamboo on my 4 week old super wee er for nights, no problems, no leaks. Are you in Brissy at all? We have regularly cloth meets if you stuck and need some cloth instruction :)
