I dont think i have ever written about Baileys birth, and now a year after her birth seems like a good time to write about it.

She was due on the 4 th of august 2005, and on the 1st of august i went for a checkup at the hospital and they found i had high bp, so they sent me for some blood tests and also for the faetal monitoring. They found i had some protein in my urine so i had to collect urine samples for 24hrs not the nicest thing to collect especially with a big baby bump!! I had to go in for monitoring every second day then they decided that i would be induced the next tuesday nite the 9th of august.
So on tuesday arvo we went to the hospital and the inserted the first lot of gel at about 5:00. They put the trace machine on too. I started feeling little niggles and pains but not proper contractions. then they Inserted another lot of gel at 11:00. then they gave me pain killer and sleeping tablet then off to sleep i went! about 4am i woke to feel some pains and i buzzed the nurse and she just told me to relax and just breathe through my contractions. This freaked me out cos i realised i was gonna give birth soon!! so i sorta dozed on and off till about 6.30 when i couldnt bear the pain so i buzzed the nurse again and she told me to call my mum so she could come up to the hospital. So mum got there about 7 and they brought me some brekky and tried to get me to eat somethin. I was too uncomfortable so they took me down to the delivery suite about 8am. From this point on i dont really remember too well. The nurse checked to see if i was dialated and when she was accidently broke my waters. so things started happening pretty fast, I had to have the monitor on so no active birth for me!
I had the gas and it started making me go a bit loopy but i just used it to help me breathe properly some of the time! I actually in stead of breathing in with the gas i was breathing out and then laughing hysterically!!
The contrations started to slow so they put the drip in and theni started getting some whoppers!!! I wanted to push but i was too soon! all my body wanted was to push i had to fight the urge by pushing inwards and i found rocking really helped. i think i nearly broke the end of the bed though cos i was pushing on it so hard with my feet!.
I asked for some more pain relief and they gave me pethadine.
The midwife checked and told me it was time to push! I was so scared, The whole time all i wanted was to push and now that i was told i could i didnt want to do it!.
I dont know how long i was pushing for but i dont think it was that long. and then my baby girl was born!
The midwife told me to try to push out the placenta but it just wasnt coming away. so they gave me an hour for it come out or i would be sent to surgery. so i had a good cuddle of bailey and then they weighed and checked her out. Then an hour had passed and the placenta still hadnt come away so i got prepared to go up to theatre so the placenta could be manually removed.
I got put on a table and the next thing i remember is waking up in recovery 3 hours later. They wheeled me down to the maternity ward and Bailey wasnt there and neither was anyone in my family. Then they all arrive and i get to see my baby girl again.

Bailey's middle name is Elizabeth after my granny! I dont know any other Bailey/baylee's that are girls! Whenever i tell ppl her name is Bailey they think i am saying Hayley or they doublecheck to make sure she is a girl! I love the way you spelt it but i am a sucker for buying things that have names on them so i spelt it in a way i knew i could find stuff even if it is boys colours !

Oh yeah, everyone looks twice to see if my Bay is a girl too or they mistake it for Hayley:banghead:. It drives me nuts sometimes.

Its great to see another one around, there are soooooo few of them and it's such a pretty name for a girl i think.
