We want to find out Gender of bub, We have a place around the corner that does gender scans in 2D and 3D for $90 for a 10 minute consultation they say it can be done from 18 weeks.
I told a friend of mine we were planning on doing this at 18 weeks and she told me you cant find out the gender till after 20 weeks, My son was born so long ago i cant remember.

With our first we found out at 17 weeks, with this bub we found out 20 weeks. The longer you leave it the better it is but it really doesn't make to much of a difference. As Long as it's around those few weeks. Good luck!!! Do you have a feeling on what gender you may be having? I was 90% sure I was having a girl with DS, and this time I was so sure it was another boy, nope it's a girl lol. So my insticts must be pretty bad lol

It really all depend on bubs position at the time, the equipment being used and the experience of the sonographer doing the scan.
I was told by the 3D place that 18 weeks was too early and the best time was around 24 weeks.
I was also told that 18 weeks was too early by the sonographer doing my morph scan with my first bub but the sonographer doing the NT scan for my second bub told me at 12 weeks.
Usually they get a good idea at the morphology scan because it goes for the longest. But sometimes bubs can be uncooperative and keep their legs closed, or it can be hard to tell for certain so they won't say anything.
It is really one of those 'depends on the situation' situations. :)

I was told they can tell from 16 weeks.
I fould out at 19 weeks with ds & 23 weeks with dd. She had her legs closed at the 20 week scan & happened to need another one at 23 weeks because they missed something important at the 20 week scan.
I'm hoping to find out at 16 weeks this time.

i think you can find out at 18 weeks- but the place I looked at going to wouldnt do a scan unless youd had the morphology scan first. which for us wasnt booked until 20 weeks -Maybe thats what your friend meant?

We found out at 16+5, confirmed correct at 19+3 - I was told that anytime from 16 weeks onward it's pretty accurate. A lot of places won't do optional scans until you've had your morph scan though, which is pretty useless.

we are going for a gender scan this friday - I will be 16 weeks exactly. Our morph scan is another 4 weeks away and we were too impatient to wait. The place we are going to sounds similar to yours only they wouldn't do 3d until after the morph scan (not sure why??) so we are having a 2d gender scan for $55. The lady on the phone was lovely and she said anything after 15 weeks is fine :D
