My DS, who is 13 weeks old, has silent reflux and has been prescribed Losec and Zantac. 7.5mg of Losec (5mg in the morning and 2.5mg in the evening), and 0.6mls of Zantac twice a day.

Question, should these be taken at that same time as each other?

I hate having to give him 2 lots of medication but I've been told they work well together. Is this correct? I thought they did the same thing.

Also, the pain seems to have gone during feeds however he is not interested at all in eating and pushes the bottle away after just a small amount and he's not getting anywhere near the quota he should be in a 24 hour period. Probably still associating feeding with pain. He doesn't seem hungry and is quite content, however he's losing weight and his nappies are pretty dry. Will his appetite increase or do you think he's just not a hungry baby?

As he looses the feeding=pain association he will pick up.

Yes they can be given at the same time but i would do losec, zantac, losec. So morning, lunch, dinner.

They are both the same medication just work differently, one of from the inside of the gut out & other from the outside in.

Can also try giving mylanta liquid before a feed to see what happens. Just 1ml before a feed, just make sure its AT LEAST one hour before & one hour after medication.
