I'm really sad atm... our pastor, who's been in our congregation for 12 years (I've been there for 10), has been called to Brisbane and he's accepted. He'll be leaving in october this year.

He's such a wonderful man and a truely gifted minister and it tears me apart to see him go :crying:

He's helped both my husband and I through difficult times in our lives, married us and baptised our son. I'm closer to him than I am to my own father!

When he goes, that will leave us without a minister for maybe 3 years...

maybe this is a prayer request, maybe it's just something I need to get out... I hope our congregation will come together and become closer through this - that all the work he's put into the church here won't fall apart just because he's no longer around :(

Hi sweetie

Its really hard when someone you are close to like that is leaving.

I hope you can still stay in contact with him. It sounds like he has been part of your lives for along time and be with your family for all the good things.

Hugs to you!
Kat

yeah.. i agree, its always hard when your pastor goes onto another church, and its also hard on the church too without a pastor, ive been through it before, sometimes the numbers drop, sometimes they stay the same.. depends.. and also its hard cause you dont have that pastoral care available when you need it, anyhow.. hope all goes well for your church and pray that a really great pastor will come soon. :)

Porrige, I feel your pain, hun. :hugs: Our beloved pastor and the single greatest mentor of my life (and DHs) went home to New Zealand almost 9 years ago now. So many of our greatest memories are becasue of him and we still think of him often. You will always feel a connection to this man and he'll always be a part of your life as by the sounds of things, he has blessed you greatly.
You need to grieve. This is going to be a big loss in your life, but you will get through it in time. Keep in contact with him. We often email our friend and let him know what is going on in our lives.
It's a hard time. :hugs: to you.
Love,
Nan. xx
