Hi hun, I have not had a bub but thought I would just pop in and say that I'd call the hospital and see what to do? I'm probably no help at all but I just wanted you to know that someone read your post. Good luck

I will just try to reassure you a bit. Losing your plug does not necessarily mean you will go into labour. I never lost mine prior to labour and a friend lost hers at 35wks only to give birth at 39wks. They can regenerate. Just take it easy, rest up and try not to stress :hugs:

thanks for your help ladies - i just called the hospital and they were originally asking me to come in but then the doctor said that so long as there is no blood and bubbies are still moving then just to take it easy and if i feel any tightness in my belly then i should go in

I have an ultrasound today so they will be able to have a squizz around and check that everything is all good

Thanks again.

Abi&Beth

When you have your next check up ask about the steroid injections to help bubs lungs. Huge hugs. Hope you can go further the 30 weeks.

Caboolture - dont ever go there - they dont care !

TripleTime

Aww Tiff, try for 30 weeks hun. Out comes are so so much better.

I would be asking them for steroids now, they do so so much to help.

Abi&Beth

Krystal - my hospital really doesnt care - if i lived close to another hospital i would be transferring! i asked them about steriod injections and they said i dont need them and that it would only make things happen sooner - mind you the girls only weigh 2 pound 4 and 2 pound 3 so how the hell would that make things worse! its heartbreaking knowing that they wont help! but i guess i will just have to take it easy and try and keep them in as long as i can!

Thanks for all of your help - i will keep you all updated

Bull! They have to offer them & it doesn't make things happen faster at all. Biggest load of rot ive ever heard. If it did, Trip's would have been born at 24 not 28.

Girls are good weights, which is on their side.

Ill try to get some info for you on transferring.

Thats exatly what i said to them about it being bullsh!t ! but i guess i cant force them to give it to me - because like they say "its in their best interests" My @ss it is!!!!!

I have another appointment on the 17th with the doctor if they are still refusing it and saying ill have them earlier i will be making a complaint to the highest possible person!

Because we just dont deserve to be treated like this what so ever!!!!!

I'm really shocked at the way the hospital is taking your situation so lightly. My ob took every possible precaution with my pregnancy because twin pregnancies are high risk. I had the steroid injections at 35 weeks after developing pre-eclampsia. Are you able to ring and get an urgent appointment with the doctor to be seen in the next couple of days? The further you can go with your pregnancy the better the outcome for your babies. :hugs:

Just out of interest also, is that hospital equipped to deal with very premmie bubs?

I was thinking the same. If they cant handle a bub under 33-34 weeks, they need to transfer you NOW.

That's a very good idea. And if you are still not getting the care you and your babies deserve you may have to look at transferring elsewhere. Please let us know how you go tomorrow :hugs:

I just sent you a PM with info i found on the hospital from QLD health. Their a 33+week hospital.

Id print it off & take it to them. It states you need to be transferred to a level 3 hospital.

I wonder if she could call the level 3 hospital direct and ask them what to do in her situation? She might get further that way??

I would think so.

We have a pretty craploa 34week+ hospital here that dont do a lot. I know people who have by passed them & gone to our level 3 & had really good out comes.

Maybe a good idea to call a level 3 in your area asap and find out what they recommend - presumably to actually give the steroid shots, unlike the idiots at Caboolture

well ladies today i went to the hospital to talk to the boss and got palmed off to the midwives - i asked that they transfer me i was told that i had to have a scan first so i did - twin bs head isnt engaged anymore so they think they will last longer in the womb - no steroids - they said that babies that come before 33 weeks have come out a good weight and have only needed CPAP at caboolture hospital - so thats my fate so far....

TripleTime

Ive been speaking to QLD mums i know, who happen to be multiple &/or prem mums. They've all said, get your butt in a car & drive to Royal Womans & Childrens or Gatton, say your on a day trip/holiday & get them to take you on.

Seriously Tiff, i would get in the car & drive.

Caboolture does not have the facilities for anyone under 33 weeks & they're known for doing this.

That's disgusting. I can't believe that a freaking hospital of all places (A HOSPITAL!!!!!!!! !) would be so irresponsible. This is a matter of tiny little lives, but no, lets not worry about that.
>:( Now I'm just p!ssed off and worried about the whole thing :(
I reckon that the 'holiday' idea is probably a god one Krystal.

I'm puzzled as to how they can generalise about the size of pre-33 weekers? If my babies had been born at 33 weeks they would have been tiny. They were tiny when they were born at 36.5 weeks.

PLEASE take Krystal's advice. And if you don't want to drive there then at least call them and tell them you are desperate for proper care for your unborn babies. That hospital is just not doing the right thing by you all :(

i no its very ridiculous but being that this is my first pregnancy they make it sound like i have to do what they say! maybe i should call Royal brisbane and see what they say? because really i think its crap what caboolture is doing - i knew something like this would happen to me! i said right from the start that i should go to RBWH as they have a higher rate of multi's!!!!

TripleTime

Just front up to the royal or at least ring them.

If my children go and see a doctor and I'm not satisfied with the doctor's advice, I take them to another doctor. This is no different for you. It's just that your babies haven't been born yet. You don't have to do as they say - it's your body and it's your babies that you are concerned about.

Please call the hospital or go in. Will your partner support you and take you in? :hugs:

Abi&Beth
11-06-2010, 10:25
Yes he will support me and come with me - the only problem i see with it is the fact that caboolture is refusing to transfer me because they dont think it is needed so how am i meant to transfer if they wont let me?

SuperGranny
11-06-2010, 10:39
hi twinstobe, If you just walk into the RBH surely they will take you, and then they can arrange the transfer of your info from Caboolture. You shouldnt have to be attending any hospital if you dont feel they can meet your and your babies needs. I would recommend the RBH, I had all my children there, and my undiagnosed twins born at 37 weeks, nearly 30 years ago. All the best, Marie.

TripleTime
11-06-2010, 12:19
You don't need cabulture's ok to go to brisbane. Just show up.
They have a duty if care to up hold.

The royal will organise the transfer from their end.

I agree with pervious advice, you should be getting a second opinion if you can from the
RBWH. Just to put your mind at ease though, when I was expecting my twins, the doc explained to me that in most cases if you go into preterm labor, they are able to "hold off labor" long enough so that the steroids can be given to you. They are best given 24 hrs apart ( you need 2 doses for best effect) but if there is any urgency, they can be given 12 hrs apart. If your signs of labor have settled, try not to stress too much, while you are sorting out whether another hospital can take you and you get that 2nd opinion. Good luck, much more worry when theres 2 or more.

Hey all

Was at the hospital today and told them i was transferring because i wasnt happy with the "customer service" i was getting from the hospital, they then took me in for my appointment told me that everything is fine and that bubs arnt threatening to come early anymore as they have moved and now everything is fine and there is no need for me to tranfer - by this time i was fairly annoyed i then proceeded to tell the doctor where to shove it and that i am transferring whether he thinks i should or not - i then drove down to RBWH and spoke to them - i have an appointment with the doctor there on wednesday so all in all it was a productive day lol

I am so relieved to read you are now going to rbh. I have had both my bubs there and my cousins premmie was born there(8.5 years ago) and the care is great. The only downside, IMO, is that the maternity wards are very busy so sometimes you need to wait 5 mins or so after ringing the buzzer, but no matter how busy they are, all the middies who looked after me made the time in their day for a general chat if/when I needed it.

Good for you. It sounds like you really stood up for yourself and are demanding the proper care for your babies. Keep us updated as to how your appointment goes on Wed. Make sure you put your feet up and relax as much as possible now. :hugs:

:smiliedance:so relieved to hear you transferred that first hospital sounds terrible id report them for malpractice.. they SHOULD offer that steroids injection to babies that early esp multis as they tend to be smaller etc... and:yelclap: well done telling doc where to shove it lol! they need to be reminded who is boss occasionally:devil: and sounds like your doc needed it... good luck with the birth etc hope they make it to 35wks min for you xox
