Hi there guys.
Well guys, we’re feeling confident enough now to say things are looking fantastic for our IVF conceived pregnancy. At our age, I’m 45 and wifey is 40, we were told by our FS not to get too excited about conceiving via IVF quickly. We knew our journey wasn’t going to be a smooth ride without any bumps or hitches and so prepared ourselves, after discussion, that we may not “get lucky” even with IVF or ICSI. We began our first cycle from the very beginning with SA’s for me and those yummy and enjoyable “internals” for wifey. Oh man, they really do have it much tougher than us don’t you think? Then came the injections, nasal inhalants, egg collection and finally, embryo implantation. Then that famous 2 week wait. (2WW) Waiting, waiting. It seems all we do is wait between tests and procedures that stretch on endlessly. Then we couldn’t wait any longer. We went out and bought around 4 pregnancy tests from a variety of shops and pharmacies nearby. We did the test and you guessed it. It came up positive. We were stunned. Words escaped us. We were pregnant after over a decade of trying naturally. :D
Long story short….we’re now expecting our little one in only 6 weeks time. Yes, you’re right. We struck gold on our very first IVF cycle with complete success. We’ve had scans and tests and it seems our precious little IVF miracle is perfect, healthy and wriggling away happily inside his/her mother. We don’t know its sex and want to keep it that way. I think it’s one of life’s last little surprises. I’m prepared to wait until sometime around July 26th. That will make him/her a Leo…like me. I feel like I’ve hit the jackpot and won the lottery all in the one year. Things I used to stress over and worry about now pale into insignificance and are no longer worry worthy.
Can life get any better right now? I really don’t think so. Our little IVF miracle is only 7 ish weeks away.
Cheers to all.
Paul…

Thanks for all your kind words & best wishes everyone.

I think one of the points I was trying to make was that we shouldn't ever say it's time to give up and resign ourselves being childless. We were almost content with living our lives with our 5 beautiful nieces and nephews. But we thought, "why not us"?. We started out with a trip to our GP and as you've all read....the rest is history, and with god's good grace, will become complete sometime around July 26th.

Don't for a minute think we don't know how incredibly fortunate we've been striking gold on our first cycle. So many couples endure visit after visit after test, only to experience, yet again, disappointment again. My heart genuinely goes out to them. All I can say is please keep going, stick together, talk to each other and keep that end goal as your main focus.

Cheers & kindest regards to all

What a wonderful story. Congratulations to you both!!

Can your life get any better? Absolutely! In 7 weeks time, wait till you are holding your precious baby in your arms and I bet you wont be able to wipe the smiles off your faces!!! Winning that lottery will pale in comparison to that. All the best and can't wait to hear all the details on your journey into parenthood. :goodvibes:
