What to get Doula?

Ok so I had a doula for my birth and she was absolutely amazing. I know there is no way I could have achieved the birth that I wanted without her support and guidance.

I know it is not really necessary, but I would love to give her a gift to show her how much I appreciate her. The thing is I have no idea what to get her.... She is an amazing woman, but I need your help in giving her a gift that will show my appreciation...

I think a nice journal I got one for my midwife and she was so happy she said most midwives and that write in journals...

do you know much about her outside of being a doula.. what are her hobbies, interests etc....

perhaps something to do with your new bub - is her name Sophia from memory (sorry I can't quite remember) - not sure what but something to do with her birth - like her footprints or a nice poem or something to do with the date she was born - or naming two joint stars one after your daugher and one after her etc...

or something 'doula' related but she probably has all that stuff already - like books etc

or somethign pampering like a massage voucher...

or a book of some sort where she can add all her births too - and include your daughters.

or a book for your daughter that you can ad to every yr if you goign to stay in contact with her

I am a doula and a client of mine bought me a book by Ina May Gaskin (a midwife) not the book she is famous for 'Spiritual Midwifery' but her 2nd book. I can't remember what it's called and I've loaned it to another client so I can't check. But it is an AMAZING book which empowers women to have the birth experience they want. As a doula this is all I want for my clients and so to have a book that helps me to help my clients was an awesome present and everytime someone tells me that it helped them I tell the clients who gave it to me. This is so they know that the gift they gave me keeps on giving back to me and to new clients who read it and receive inspiration from it! We gave our doula a framed small photo of dd with thank you written on the frame. We also got her address details and send her photo updates for special events (Christmas, her birthday, we will in a month when dd turns one) just a little wallet sized photo with a card and an update from us. She then calls and we chat for last call was just under 2 hours!
