View Full Version : Ever had a bad tin of formula??
Is it possible?? On Saturday DS2, started throwing up and had diarrhoea - after a afternoon in emergency, and taking things slowly yesterday, we thought everything was ok, then last night he threw everything up again, and had another runny poo. This all started after we open a new tin of formula, it was a different brand of formula to what we were using a week before, but we have been using this brand for a couple of months....so is it possible they we may have brought a bad tin???
I have 0 information on this but I hav heard that if a tin is mixed incorrectly it can be toxic. Might be worth looking into. It could just be the different brand, or a co-incidence but thought I'd put that out there just incase there is truth to it.

Hi Karen,
I've not had any probs myself, sorry. But :hugs: that DS2 is feeling better real soon.
Thanks Ladies, when I think about it, it was probably a coincidence, I am still going to get another tin of formula - different brand. If there it was a bad tin, mine wouldn't be the only one, and there would be a recall by now. Lack of sleep gets you paranoid :o

If it's not the same brand you regularly use, that can be the cause.

I believe that my son has just had a off tin of formula.

My baby is now 6 years old BUT back when he was on formula, we did have a bad tin, but I suspected it was bad because it smelled different, kinda fishy sorta
But he was on the same formula the entire time he was on the bottle, and it was a once off. The manufacturers were very concerned and had a courier come out to collect it for testing. They replaced the tin of course. A couple of weeks later I got a letter saying it had been tested, that it wasn't 'quite right' but not toxic. Not sure I'd expect them to admit, even if it was?
So it does happen.
Well on the advice from a lovely friend who is a nurse, I have continue with the formula that I have for him, this is the one I have been using for months and is best suited for him. He is a lot better now, has not been sick since the night before and his poos are slowwly getting better. Thanks for the replies girls :hugs:
