I am still bouncing around in my head the opportunity I was given to move to Maroubra... I have holidayed there many many times, but I know that is quite different o living there.

So for those that do... Do you like it? Do you think it is a good place to raise your child/ren?

If i do move DS will be 4-5 at the time...

And another question that is in my mind at the moment, how long is the drive to Lidcombe?

I am sure I have more questions, but if anyone can help me with these I would hugely appreciate it :)

I moved from Maroubra just under 5 months ago and I miss it. Every Saturday and Sunday morning DH and I would get the newspaper and a coffee and sit at the picnic tables relaxing with the baby. Prior to bub I used to run laps along the shore line at sunrise. Gosh, getting teary just thinking about it.

I think it really depends on where you live as to the quality of life. I lived in Lurline Bay for a while and loved it. So peaceful. Then i needed a bigger place when DH and I moved in together and we moved to South Maroubra. Not a great move. Lots of DOH and was quite unnerving near the shops. We didn't set foot out of the house at night and the buses stopped travelling down our street after 8pm. Try to avoid the streets that are American locations. Really close to the beach but not too safe. i've also lived at Maroubra Junction. Is a long walk to the beach but cheaper than maroubra Beach area. Away from the big unit blocks near the junction are lots of family homes. Nice parks and lots of footpaths for bike riding for the little ones. Bit noisy if you are too close to the main roads though.

Our intention is to move back there when our little one starts school but will be looking at schools a little bit out of the area.

As for travel to Lidcombe, it is 45 mins from maroubra without traffic. the M5 tunnel is an absolute shocker even against the peak hour traffic and King Georges Road can get pretty busy. I'd say it would be an hour or so during busy times of the day. The alternative is to snake through the back streets to Parramatta Road but not sure if it is any quicker. DH works not far from there so used to do the trip a lot.

Hope that helps.
