Does anyone know a site that I can download the QLD school font from?
Harrisson uses the computer a bit and is starting to type a few simple words and it would be great if he could do it in the same font he'll be learning to write in.

You might just have to trawl through a few font sites.

Hi, I have finally found the site to download the font used in Queensland schools for free. Once downloaded it can then be used as any other font in MS Word to produce resources in the same font that they are taught in school. We have just relocated from Victoria and I am keen to do up some practice sheets of writing for my daughter before school starts so she is familiar with her 'new' writing. you can download the qcursive software. This will then load the font into MS Word (or you can use the very outdated qcursive software that will load...yuck..) This is an Education Queensland website. There are also downloadable resources already setup in the
QCursive: a Queensland handwriting resource for lower primary link.


This wasn't easy to find. I only found it when I googled Education Queensland & font. Hope this helps and stops others being mislead into paying for the same font from other sites.

I would LOVE a copy of the Qld fonts for primary school if you still have them? My eldest son has just started Prep this year, and I have been helping out the teachers by bringing some work home.

Part of the 'at home work' I've been helping with is printing up statements that the kids have said in regards to paintings and drawings they have done. My sons' teacher normally does this, and has the correct font, however she is currently in hospital. We are all praying for her speedy recovery, and I would really like to help her as much as she can.

The lovely people at Ed Qld have moved this to their 'Learning Center' which is for Ed Qld staff ONLY.

So a big thank you to all those in here who have the fonts and are sharing so freely because I firmly believe they should be free, or the schools should be teaching one that IS free. Education costs enough already.

You know what's funny about that is that the majority of people I send the fonts to are uni or tafe students, childcare students, teachers or teacher aides. They obviously can't or don't know where to access them either! :rolleyes:

Are you going into your control pannel - the clicking on the 'fonts' folder and dropping the files into there?

That is what you need to do so that you can access the fonts in word or publisher or whatever publishing software you use. :)

I have Vista and XP (Vista on my personal laptop and XP on my school one) and have the fonts on both. Let me know if you want me to try and email the files I have to you! :)

I am actually new to the country and back home we practise the usual straight normal alphabets, i hope u know what i mean.
Just wondering isn't the qld writing seems bit too difficult for year1 beginners?

In answer to your question about yr 1 using the qld font its yes. here they begin learning to write their name in the qld font in prep. By the time they reach yr 1 they should have most in not all the alphabet covered as well as name and common words. They should be able to identify and write in the qld font. Maybe not so well but the attempt should look like the real thing.

You can purchase as a download over the internet but if you send me your email I can send you a copy of mine. You add them to your fonts and then use them to create any words/letters you want and print them out. I have found it very useful to do a page with their name repeated a few times in a large size then laminate. They can then practise over an over. Saves on paper and ink.

I am a single mum of three, paying that much money to get a font to extend my children's learning at home... well it is just not possible at the moment. The qld gov site doesnt have it, they only have part directional arrows but would really love to get the full directional arrow for my kids to start learning how to write. Hoping that someone could help. thanks
