Are you talking about corned silverside in the vacum pack ? I just use water, cover it with water and bring to boil, then leave to simmer for 4 hours with lid on.

Mum2Mimi:laughing: you crack me up
It sometimes comes with a recipe on the pack.
The best way is in the slow cooker for 6+ hours...
If not, on the stove top is fine, not boiling, cover with water, add brown vinegar if wanted, a few bay leaves, peppercorns, nothing is really necessary, but it all adds flavour..
it should also tell you on the pack how long to cook it for, they are super easy and super delish!
It is a pink meat, it is delish with cheese sauce mixed with parsley and mash potato!!!

I was coming to say what Em said!
Brown Sugar, Malt Vinegar, Peppercorns, a Bay leaf if you have it, then I always put in an onion, and a couple of pealed and cut carrots. :)

That is what we had for dinner the last two nights:yes:Yum.
I cook it in the slow cooker for 6 to 8 hours but I use a 1.25L bottle of diet dry ginger ale and add a couple of tablespoons of golden syrup on top of the meat.
Once the meat is cooked I cut it up and put in a dish and put some of the juice out of the slow cooker on it so it stays nice and moist.
I do mine in the microwave in an oven bag - comes out super tender.
I use:
2tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp balsamic vinigar
pickling spices (or just peppercorns and bay leafs)
1-2 cups water (depending on size of silverside)
pour into oven bag with silverside and cook on 60% power at 20 mins for every 500g. Doesn't shrink half as much as it does when you boil them.

I do mine in the slow cooker so not sure about the telling when its cooked bit :o
But I pop my carrots and the baby potatos in with the meat along with a couple of Tbs of tomato paste (plus the water vinegar etc).
Might have too try the golden syrup though
I love it on fresh white bread the next day:chef:
