maybe it has something to do with the whole pelvic muscles/region changes when pregnant. so they slip out easily

haha yes it can.. and you can even poop yourself

its all normal and happens to many many many many many women.. in fact you would be weird if you didnt have a fart when in labour.

At least i'm finally getting some revenge on DH for what I have to put up with from him normally

Luckily he has a good sense of humour about it. We just blame those damn pregnancy hormones again!

lol, not really...

I don't remember doing any of that during labour (too focused on getting bub out and the pain etc) so if it happened I was oblivious to it...and no-one ever mentioned it, so all good here!

Pregnancy is a funny ol' thing indeed!! Am finding this whole farting business hilarious - feel like a child myself :) I do hope not to follow through while giving birth though!!:laughing:

ladies, pooping in labour is common esp if you have an epidural.
Tmi warning, i did, but the midwife wiped it all away almost as quickly as it came out. It really is so common.

:iagree:Same here. I was so nervous about doing a number 2 on the delivery table!! But when I was in labour at home I wanted to go to the toilet like 2 or 3 times to empty my bowel. I guess bubs is pushing hard on everything and there is no room there so you have to poo?

classic - what movie is the last bit from? i can picture the little girl and even hear how she says it in my head but i cant for the life of me think of the movie!

on the topic though, DH and I are very much a couple where farting and anything toilet related is not done in front of each other so i am dreading that part of labour the most. bring on everything else - pain, long labour, whatever. but please god, dont let me fart or poo in front of him.

as for epidurals making it worse.....ive been saying no epi all along and that has just sealed the deal for me

Same here, that didn't happen to me.....
not that I'm aware of anyway

Now I'm hoping #3 will arrive in a fart and poop-free environment.

Me 31, DH 30, baby on the way and 2 cats who are going to get the shock of their lives

Off topic sorry! but Moxy you could be me! 31 here and two feline children who are in for a huge surprise! Maybe should start a separate threat for this the topic of pets lol. One of my kitty kids, in particular, is very clingy / possessive with me and I have no idea how he is going to handle a baby in the house!

:D me too, but i've heard midwives will often lie and tell you it didn't happen even if it did. DH assures me it never happened though. And he's a terrible liar!

That's reasuring.

I know for sure I didn't the second time because I was unceremoniously squatting on the bathroom floor in my birth suite and saw it all.... so undignified but nothing but baby and placenta. ;)

But my God my first labour, I was flat on my back with an epi and in so much agony I'm sure I wouldn't have known or cared what was happening down the the business end!
Now I wonder...
