Haha I was thinking the same. I'm on my phone while DDs on my lap watching the wiggles ( no cleaning happening ;))
I like to read. I miss not having the time to do it more often though. DF watches DD once a week so can go out of a night which is nice.

I love to read too along with baking and I really love going clubbing .
At the moment though I spend most of my time dreaming about when I can go back to work hahahahha!

I love reading my magazines and books , being on bubhub , and lastly but not least, watching day time tv , even if its taped on foxtel IQ and I have to watch Dr Phil and Oprah that night at 11 pm !
Oh , and a beautiful shower on my own for as long as I want when DS is in bed , instead of 2 minute day showers with him watching me like a hawk from hes bouncer !

i lurve my shower time!!!! there is nothing better than a nice long hot shower to get you going for the day.
gosh i wish i had time to read though. i used to read all the time, and i only realised the other day that besides text books and journals, i havent picked up a novel in nearly 4 years!!!
so i am inspired by you girls to take some time for myself and get reading.
can anyone suggest a good book to get me going?!
as as for clubbing...i would settle for being able to have dinner without having to worry about DS.
DP and i have decided that starting this week we are going to have dinner together every friday night. DS goes to sleep at about 8-8:30 so we are going to get a sitter and have a late dinner. I am really exciteed. it will be the first time we have been just the two of us since DS was born.
does any one else do anything similar?

That sounds wonderful what you and your partner are going to do ! We dont do a dinner but definitely cuddle in bed together to watch tv in peace as soon as DS is in bed.
I can recommend The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons if you havent already read it , AMAZING. While caring for darling DS it will take you away to a fantasy world during the day because you wont be able to stop thinking about Alexander ! :cloud9: I am obsessed with alexander. And you will be dying to get to bed that night to read more !

all this talk of chores is because talking about it is NEARLY the same as doing it!!! :D:D:D
i like reading too, i read all sorts of things from chick lit to history books. What sort of writers did you used to read?
I like yoga and running
I'm also waiting for DS to get a bit older and hopefully :fingerscrossed: sleep a bit less erratically so i can pull my sewing machine out

i used to read absolutely everything!!! Anything anyone recommended i would read. not a huge fan of way out sci-fi fantasies but it really does depend on the author. some can make an impossible theme seem so real and enthralling.
why dont you pull out your sewing machine and make some clothes for bub? i used to ave one and if i still did that is what i would try to do in my spare time. i would even make some extra stuff and maybe sell it online or at a market stall.
but honestly arent we all full of talk! i have all these ideas and never get around to doing any of them! sometimes i need a good kick up the butt to get going!
ive never tried yoga. i used to be really flexible but now i cant even get close to my toes. do you need to be flexible to do it?

Ooh I love reading too! I think last month I read about 5 novels. I have to dedicate a whole section of our budget to books!:o And then when I am sick of reading them I write instead:D
And I talk on the phone a lot in the day too:p My days are pretty easy-going. A bit of housework (just enough to stay on top of everything) and lots of relaxing and playing with the kids. Although of course when DH comes home I tell him about ALL the chores I've done!
Did you end up finding that book? I haven't read it, but I read Tully and Road to Paradise by the same author. That might have to be the next one on my list...

Reading rocks ! I love it , I spend alot of money on books too !

Well on Thursdays I have 3 hours to myself so I go op shopping. I get to enjoy a McDonalds breakfast or a chocolate milk shake on my own with the kids wanting some.
Hi everyone, can i join in here too? Most mornings i don't get my morning shower until about 8.30/9am once i've put DD down for her morning nap. Half the time i don't know where my mornings go either. I get Fridays to myself until i leave for work as DD goes into child care.
I really should get back into reading, i used to a few years ago. For a while i got into the Oprah bookclub books. I try to get DD out to some baby play things through the week which helps the days go. I also work 3 shifts a week in the evenings too. I love being home with our DD, some days drag but then others are gone before i realise it.

Welcome !!
I used to try and get into the Oprah book club books too but some of them werent my cup of tea ! I absolutley love being home with DD , but some days do drag and can feel slightly overwhelming trying to stay on top of the smallest things like housework dinner washing bottles etc . Other days fly just like you said, before you know it there in bed , another day down , same thing tomorrow !
In my 'me time' I love to do latch hooking.
I haven't read a book in over 5yrs, that is a mighty scary thought considering I used to read all the time.
I was thinking the same thing!!! The threads in here are all about housework
I LOVE reading in my me-time (I used to be a part of a bookclub, because I love discussing the books with someone afterwards :o)
I love going out with my girlfriends or my sister on a Friday night for a glass of wine or two, while DH spends time with DS. Sometimes DH and I go out to dinner and catch a late movie while my sister minds DS. It's bliss. I think I would go crazy if I couldn't do things like that, it really keeps me sane!

That sounds like so much fun, I really need to start one up again. Except the people I know here are somewhat less interested in reading books :( It would be a club comprising of just me and my sister
I would LOVE to see a book club on bubhub
:iagree: Brilliant idea!!
I actually like that a lot of the threads here are about housework because reading them either a) motivates me to get myself into gear and do something or b) makes me feel better that I'm not the only one who just can't be bothered cleaning 24/7!!
For my me time, I go to gym (I actually love this because the kids go in the creche and I get loads of time to myself and then get a lovely looooonnnnnggggg hot shower in peace there too!!), I've recently learnt to knit and I adore reading.
I've just finished reading a brilliant book called Still Alice about a Harvard professor who gets Alzheimers. Don't know what to do with myself til tomorrow when I go get something else to read!!

Oh my god I am so glad someone gets it !!!!!!!!!!!! Alexander is amazing isnt here.
I am still totally in love with a complete fictional character, Im telling you that book I will never forget . My husband is Russian, and I was adamant we were calling our son Alexander after the book and he was happy with this due to it being a Russian name but at the last minute he really wanted another Russian name so next bub , if your a boy , you are going to be Alexander for sure !!!!!!!!
It's ok ladies, i'm in love with a fictional character as well. His name is James Fraser, from Crosstitch :bee: After I read that book, I wanted to fly straight to Scotland in search of him
I'm going to have to read The Bronze Horsemen

Ooh this might just be your next book crush :D
Crosstitch (otherwise known as 'Outlander' in the US) is about an English woman from the 1940's who falls in love with a Scottish Highlander warrior from the 1700's. Haha, sounds far-fetched, but it's great and it's loved by many. The highlander is called Jamie Fraser and he even has a fan club on the internet
The genre is confusing...it's romance with some segments of action, a dash of science fiction (obviously with the time travel part!) and some historical themes as well. It takes ages to get into - it took me a month to get past the first chapter because I thought it was boring - but once it gets going it's hard to put down. Some critics compare it to Mills and Boon books (admittedly, there is probably a bit too much sex in it), while others are obsessed with it. I enjoyed the storyline, and found it quite interesting due to the era it was set in. Oh and I fell in love with the protagonist :D
I'm definitely reading the Bronze Horseman next - I need a new crush too!!
ETA: Sorry about the long description - my post kind of sounds like a book review! :o

The woman travels back in time by accident right , and in current life she had a hubby etc, in past life she meets Jamie ? I loved him ! And it continues on with sequels ? Am I right or just waaaaaaaaaaaaay off and tripping !
Oh bellini please please read it , we can start our own little book club on bub hub , because trust me you will want to discuss every little part once you begin reading it and I love talking to people about it !

I would be in a bubhub book club for sure !
I started one years ago before I had DS , and it continued all the way till I had him , its sort of fizzled now !
I have great memories of our debates over book choices while eating a meal or having a coffee, they were fun days :D We didnt let anyone in unless they were truly a diehard book fan ! I wish I had more time to read but I still squeeze it in anytime I can among the other things I do at night when DS goes to bed.
Once he hits the sack I literally run around the house doing last minute things, then run to my bed, jump in and spend my time reading a book , magazines, doing crosswords, filling in hes baby book ( god Ive made it into a bloody novel that baby book ) watching tv with DH etc ..... I could read more but then feel like I am missing out on my other little enjoyments

Oops must have missed this post.
Yes they do. And you *have* to start with the first one (Crosstitch) otherwise they don't make much sense.
You don't have to read past Crosstitch though, it's perfectly good as a book on its own. As the series drags on, the books become long and tedious, IMO :o Although many fans would disagree.

ok so it took me three days to read but finally done.
doesnt everyone love a strong masculine character with a gentle side!!! i really do believe we only fall for alexander because of where the story is set. oherwise for the majority of the book we would be convinced he was a player...and just getting amusement and an ego boost from having a young girl chase him.
and tatiana...extremely dumb but even more lucky.
loved the book though...hated the ending!!! fancy leaving me hanging like that!

off to ge the next book along today. wont start reading it for a couple of days though cos i need sleep bad.
ds slept through to 5am this morning...took him to bed with me last night and kicked out dp cos i needed the sleep. was so tired i was feeling sick all the time. one good sleep and now i feel a million dollars!
the zumba thing i need to put aside for now. dp and i have decided to do ballroom dancing together. thought it would be good to do something to keep the relationship close. we both have our individual activities, dp plays tennis i and i do volunteer work, but we want to set a good "family' example for ds.
has anyone read 'shindlers ark'?
