This may be a really silly question,
when breastfeeding with a cold does this mean I pass it on to my baby or the baby is protected from it?
Angus and I have had colds this week- not a really snotty yucky one, just a sore throat and the type that makes you really miserable. Hugh has been very unsettled the last couple of days and I'm wondering if this means he might have it too. He's been sleeping fine just grouchy when he's up.

Hi,

Yes it does, its called passive immunity and it is transfered to your baby via Breastmilk in the form of antibodies. Your body makes these antibodies in response to different "attacks" on your immune system these antibodies flow around your blood and end up being incorporated into your breastmilk along with other really useful stuff to help your baby develop to its optimal potential.

Cool isnt it:thumbsup:
