View Full Version : Where to shop for new baby in Melbourne
Hello Everyone,
I am a new mom and new in Australia - we just move over in Melbourne for a couple months and I'm now 22 weeks pregnant. Could anyone recommend the best place where can we shop for the new baby?
Many thanks in advance.

Depends which side of melbourne you're on. The One Stop Baby Shop in Seddon (West) is good. Cheaper than the big Baby Bunting type places, and the staff are v. friendly and helpful. It's never crazy-busy either so you always get one-on-one attention
Congrats on your pregnancy by the way! :yelclap:

Places like Big W and Target have good quality, reasonably priced clothes so we get most of DD's stuff from there. Kmart has cheap clothes but I find most of it shrinks and isn't very good quality. Then there's places like pumpkin patch and specialty kids stores which are scattered here and there, but they're usually a bit pricey. Pumpkin Patch have gorgeous clothes though.

there are baby markets around melbourne. Also you can pick up a free magazine called melbournes child there are lots of ads for baby and children stuff. Also go to any newsagency or bookshop and buy a book called "bargain shoppers guide to melbourne" this is a bargain bible not only does it have baby stuff but all sorts like household goods, furniture and most importantly clothes and shoes! welcome to melbourne (and australia)
I agree that Baby Bunting is great, especially for prams and all nursery products. Target, K-mart, Best'n Less, Big W and David Jones are great for clothes and have all brands between them.
If you're from the UK, then a Mothercare has opened up in Chadstone and Doncaster dhopping centres. They have gorgeous clothes.
Thank you everyone for the suggestion.
I'm living in Melbourne CBD - will start to search the shopping list. So excited!!

baby gallery is great.
We are moving over from London in August and I wanted to know the best stores for large items like double buggies and car seats cause I beleive I can't use my maxi cosi car seats when i get there?? :(
I had a look at the Mothercare website for the new store in Melbourne and the range seemed really limited.....Is there a Halfords type store??
Thanks.

Mothercare here is very limited compared to London and its a lot more expensive too. I got some little tracksuit pants for my son that were $22 for 2 here, on the UK Mothercare website they were 6pounds for 2! Which was about $12 at the time. Grrr....
For prams and car seats I found Glen Huntly Baby Carriages on Glen Huntly Rd good, they weren't that helpful but cheap and good range. Not too far from CBD.

Lydiak - no there's no Halfords type shop here. You need to get car seats and prams from somewhere like Target or Big W. Baby Bunting is a big store with lots of choice of seats and prams too. You could also search online - I think there's a couple of baby stores online which are reasonably priced.
Hi all,
I just got a car seat from Baby Bunting yesterday - so happy that now we could tick out some of our shopping list now.
Thanks all
