Hi there,
I know there's a thread a few pages down dedicated to this from about a year ago, but I'm interested to hear more experiences on Peninsula Private if anyone has any. I read somewhere about a birthing pool? Does anyone know if this is accurate or not as I didn't see it when I went for my tour nor did the midwife mention it.
Thanks in advance!

It's not a birthing pool, just a bath for pain management during labor. They insist you are out of the pool for delivery. Cheers.

Wonderful hospital, had both of mine there and loved it, infact I did not want to leave either time :). As PP said no birth pool - they do not cater for water birth at Peninsula. There is a rather large spa which I spent the bulk of my first labour in, sat in the dark no jets going just the hot water, the mobile air and gas machine and some aromatherapy oils burning. If you are after a water birth Frankston hopsital have a water birth unit with a birthing pool. My friend looked into it and basically you have to be low risk, be part of the midwife program (ie check ups etc...) so if you already have an ob be aware they wont be able to do your delivery there. Once bub is born part of the deal is you are transferred to Rosebud hospital for your recovery period. My friend enquired about being transferred to Peninsula which is possible but a lot of red tape, you then have to go in under an ob - hence pay the ob's fees have ambulance transport for you and bub. It was all a bit complicated so she just went to peninsula and had a non water birth. Sorry about the essay!!

The Hospital itself is great, facilities are great, most midwives were excellent, nurturing and very helpful, however, I had a major issue with one of their midwives, which even cause my husband to call management and report her. Her name is Jenny, so if you get her as your midwife, run as fast as you can, she was condescending, rude and ignored the fact that as a Strep B+ patient I needed to have a penicilin IV as soon as my water broke, as a result my baby had major complications and was treated for sepsis with toxic antibiotics. A nightmare! She was disciplined and retrained apparently since but i would not trust my pregnancy or baby to her in a million years.

Hi Ladies
I'm hoping to go to PPH (only 6 wks so haven't decided on an ob yet), do any of you have any opinions/information about the ob's based there? I had surgery for endometriosis under Dr Luiz there about 9 yrs ago and I wasn't impressed with him (basically he stuffed up the surgery causing me to have more surgery 6mths later - and his whole solution for endo was "get pregnant").
I've heard good reports about Brett Marshall and Melwyn D'Mello, but I'm looking for someone who will let us be really involved in all decisions, etc (eg: not someone who just tells you what to do), any advice?
Thanks

I used Dr Brian Fox, a GP who practices obstetrics and delivers at PPH. He was great - very friendly, relaxed, experienced and always had time to answer questions. If you don't want a lot of intervention or don't need a specialist, I would highly recommend him. Not only is he a fantastic doctor, but you'll save a lot of money (I was out $500 out of pocket). If you google his name, you'll find a few reviews/feedback about him which are all very positive and a true reflection of what he's like. He's based in
Cranbourne Road medical practice in Frankston. Good luck!
