Since introducing solids ds has lost interest in breastfeeding, unless he's really tired or upset. He must find food far more exciting - he's a big eater.

I'm noticing that it takes ages for my milk to let down - he's getting a bit frustrated (wriggling around like crazy) because he has to suck really hard for a good couple of minutes to start the flow. It's beginning to get a bit uncomfortable.

Any ideas/suggestions? Is this normal? I've always had lots of milk and a rapid flow so it's quite wierd for me.

ive had exactly the same issue although Kayden is almost 10 mths. it caused me real stress & worry cos i noticed his nappies were not as wet as they should have been. after talking to my mchn she suggested i wean him as she said it sounded as though he just wasn't interested anymore. he is now on 2 bottles and 1 bf & he is always soaked - however i am having a real struggle with the morning bf feed and i cannot believe how well & quick he drinks from the bottle (the little monkey would not drink from a cup)!!!!!

My son is refusing solid food, however I had a similar problem with the let down when beast feeding.
I found that it could take up to 10 min on some occasions and jm would get so frustrated and wriggle and pull away from the breast continually. I started to get really frustrated and stressed my self. I found that feeling this way was contributing to the slowing of the let down.
I started to try and relax when I was feeding, and not think about the let down and said to myself when it happens it happens. I then found that it came heaps quicker, sometimes straight away.
So try and relax when your feeding and don't think about it, then it will come.
Good luck

wattle, when my letdown is taking a while, i flip Spencer onto the other breast. it keeps him occupied until the milk kicks in.
