View Full Version : And so it has come to an end...

*sniff*

I thought I was prepared. I thought emotionally I was ready, as well as physically.

But now that I have really cemented the fact firmly in my head... I am a little teary that my twin breastfeeding has come to an end.

And an easy end at that.

I went away for a weekend, Mum looked after the boys... I was prepared to tell them when I came back that Mummy had no milk anymore (after slowly weaning them over several months down to a few feeds a day) but they haven't even asked me for milk.

I thought it would be a week of screams at night and only going to sleep when we were all exhausted. But they wake, I go in and lie them down and say "shhh" and they drop off back to sleep.

I am so so proud of myself for breastfeeding for so long. It was a rocky start, and the first three months were long and tedious with establishing our relationship. But we blossomed and I loved our snuggles together as much as they loved the comfort of milk.

I think perhaps the hardest part for me to accept is that it just cements that my little babies... are no longer little babies anymore. :crying:

Maybe I am now ready for number three?

Awwwww, makes me teary just reading.

:yelclap: :yelclap: :yelclap: :yelclap: :yelclap: :yelclap: AWESOME job though on feeding twinnies for so long. Even better that they happily weaned - DS1 was the same, and it makes it a little easier.

Good on you nomsie!
I must admit, I was very emotional when DS1 weaned while I was pg with #2, so I can totally understand where you are coming from.
You should be proud for feeding your twins as long as you did!

Now to add another bub to the nov 08 mums group! :)

Well thank you.

There is still the issue of drying up now... I pump when I get uncomfortable and massage in the shower as much as I can to avoid mastitis... the only other thing I worry about is going into the boys in the middle of the night because one is crying and picking them up and putting them on the boob without even thinking about it. (I have woken up several times sitting on the chair in their room feeding :o) I just think it would set everything back and it took me months to get to this stage.

I guess I will just have to keep my witts about me! :p (Yes, it IS possible, TYVM!)

I watched the extraodinary breastfed show on Lifestyle you and when this woman decided to wean her twins it was so heartbreaking them crying for more booby, was very stressful and even i cried watching the TV! You did give them the greatest start and they sound like they were ready if they weren't upset about it. You are my hero :D :hugs:

Eek Vee I watched that too, and was adamant that it wasn't going to be as hard as that! That was so painful to watch, I was crying too!
