I am 20 weeks pregnant and have recently developed really bad knee pains in both knees. I can barely walk-i have to walk with my legs apart and slightly bent so i look funny, i can barely stand up from any position remotely bent (standing from sitting position is so bad), they ache when i dont move and it feels like firey pain in both of them. Like someone is setting my knees alight. I dont know what to do they hurt so much. Even sitting here at the computer is hurting them. I get no relief no matter what i do-flexing and stretching hurts a lot too............my husband, who has done a Bachelor of Science (Sport and Exercise) says i have a fiar bit of fluid around them.

Should i see someone?
Should i get walking aids so i dont strain anything else?

I hate it, it hurts if i move, it hurts if i dont

OUCHIESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSs

I think you should see either your doctor or your midwife they would know what to do.

Clare I had exactley the same problem through my pregnancy, some days it hurt so much to go from a sitting to a standing position that Iwould almost cry. Even laying in bad at night seemed to hurt them. I didn't go and see anyone about it ( I probably should have though), However after I had my daughter 7 weeks ago the pain seemed to just disapear, my knees are now fine. (probably not much comfort to you as you are only half way through, but there is light at the end of the tunnel)

Ive actually had this before i got pregnant as well, just not occuring this often. DH thinks it could be arthritis.......Rang maternity and the midwife wants me to see a physio because she says knee problems this early could make things pretty difficult.

I thought it was better this morning when i woke up but as soon as i was standing for a minute or more or walking for a minute or more the pain started coming back........going to be fun tomorrow when igo to uni and have to walk from the bus stop!!! Midwife said get walking aids if they will help.......

Oh well 17.5 more weeks to go and it will get better!
