I read on a post last week that vitex can help to regulate your cycles. Is anyone taking this and able to provide advice?
When should you start taking it? I am 3 DPO and pretty sure we missed O this month. Should I start now or when my AF arrives?
Also, the instructions say you shouldn't take whilst pregnant. Should you therefore stop taking it once you think you have O'd? Of is it OK to take during the first couple of weeks?
How much do you take?
Anything else I should know?
Any assistance appreciated!
hey - i was taking vitex to help regulate my cycles as well, however it didnt do a thing for me at all.
Some women stop taking it once they have O'd but i kept taking it anyway, and planned to stop taking it as soon as i got that BFP.
I ws taking blackmores brand, and was taking 3 a day. its about $11 - $12 for a bottle of 40 tablets.
It can also take upto 12 weeks to work, but some notice a difference after 3 weeks.
here is a link to the blackmores site http://www.blackmores.com.au/Products/Detail.aspx?ProductId=1912

I started taking it after hearing of its surprising results. Within a month I was pregnant after 18mths of trying and not having a period for 3 months beforehand. The liquid form is meant to be the best. I took it twice a day with juice, although the taste is not so good. It cost me around $15 a bottle from the health food shop.
i started taking it after hearing good things about it too... and it is fantastic!! although iv heard that the liquid is best and the tablets dont work as well or as fast. it taste HORRIBLE! but im kinda use to it now, i take 2mls with alot of juice!! i wasnt getting a proper cycle. it was up to 72days apart.... since taking it i had been having 26day cycles!! i had to stop taking it for a few months (my son was in hospital) and my cycles went all out of wack again... but iv just started it again a few days ago hope to see awesome results again soon....
i started somewhere in my 72day long cycle, and always kept going even after ovulation....
I took vitex to regulate my cycles after breastfeeding. I fell pregnant within a few months of starting it and kept taking it up until my BFP which was around the day AF was due.
I was told by my natropath that its safe to take during the luteal phase and therefore during the early weeks of pregnancy if you happen to fall pregnant during that cycle.
Good luck - personally I swear by it but of course I don't know what the outcome would have been even if I hadn't taken it.

I dont know anything about this stuff, but would it be good for me to take as I've just come off implanon and havent had regular (or really any!) cycles for years? I've had AF once since having it removed (removed 2 weeks ago, AF one week ago but intermittent and mostly light, stopped now). Should I give it a go?
Alatariel: i would give it a go... but use the liquid as it is directly into your system and works better than the tablet form, i take 2mls every morning in a bit of lime cordiel (the only stuff i can find that covers most of the taste!)

Mmmmm.............this looks interesting.
Where can you get liquid Vitex? I'm going to give it a go!
i just get mine at my local health shop... the liquid 50ml (i think its 50) is about $15 and the 100ml is $21. i ge tthe big one so i could be wrong on the little one...
Hi Ladies,
I take Vitex in the liquid form also. I have a thyroid problem which throws all your hormones etc out of whack, so took it to start getting things back in order - and to get on with Bub Number 2!
It tastes pretty yucky :barf: however, it's a small price to pay.
I got my bottle from the local health food shop. It's full name is something like Agnes Castus Vitex.
Hope this helps.
