View Full Version : having another baby after a premmie
So my partner and I just found out we are expecting our second bub and whilst I am over the moon I am starting to feel some mixed emotions. We dont know what caused my waters to rupture early and its left me feeling so unsure.
Does anyone have any advice for a pregnancy after a premmie? anything the Dr's told you would increase the chances of a full term bub? how to strength the c/s scar? i really want to try a VBAC provided all goes well.
or just any tips on maintaining a sanity lol im still in the first trimester and feel like my brain is going to explode with all the worry.
TIA

Hi , it's a hard one but from
what I have learnt people can have 4 kinds and the 5 th one be prem , or just one or a few prems. Try and enjoy iiur pregnancy , the antenatal clinic or your ob will be aware of your past and keep an eye on you.
Good luck :)

Hi:wave:
My daughter was born at 32 weeks. We were the same, had no idea why my waters ruptured early, and I was concerned it would happen again with my second pregnancy. From 32 weeks, I started getting prepared. Well DD2 was overdue! I was trying for a VBAC and they were only going to give me until 41 weeks and then a repeat caesarean, and so we started really trying to bring on labour! She was 5 days overdue- and huge compared to my little premmie, it was such a different experience!
As far as the VBAC goes, my only advice would be to have really good support around you and do a lot of research so you feel 100% positive. My VBAC failed, but I was still a bit unsure and so I did panic when they suggested going for another caesarean due to failure to progress. Perhaps if I had have been more confident I would've succeeded... who knows?
Good luck and try not to stress too much:)

get good medical care.
I went public and was scanned every 2 weeks up til 32 weeks.
Also rest heaps and if you think something is wrong, dont wait, go straight to the hospy.
I had my first at 29 weeks and made it to 35 with my next one.

My best friend had her DD at 33 weeks. She was breach so had her delivered by c-sec.
I'm thrilled for her as she just had a successful VBAC with her 2nd baby 2 weeks ago at 38 1/2 weeks:smiliedance:. Another little girl...just gorgeous and perfectly healthy.
I agree with what has already been said. Lots of rest and any doubts about how your feeling, go staight to your GP or hospy. My friend had a wonderful GP that fit her in at anytime she was concerned so that helped keep her mind at ease.
Congrats and good luck :)
