I am currently enrolled in my last year of my Bachelor of Social Science degree externally through SCU, Lismore. I am doing my last external subject, Managing Change through them this semester for my HRD major. I still have 4 subjects left to go but am doing 3 internally at a local uni from 1st year psychology with the hopes of going on to study 2nd year psychology next year.

I really thought my problem subject this semester was going to be Statistics - but I am right on target with it and keeping up  (much to my surprise). My problem subject is turning out to be my last external subject. I have done the majority of my degree externally (18 subjects) and so it is my "usual" mode, however since doing internal uni subjects (and really enjoying it) I am struggling to get motivated to do the Managing Change. Maybe because I am finding it really dry  and my focus has shifted from wanting to do HRD work to Psychology and so have no interest in it.

I've been trying to get into the first assignmnet but honestly - arrrrggghhhhh - we have to write a report on why, how and what we would recommend for Mitsubishi to downsize...I don't know about you but I have no interest in car manufacturing and I am just lacking the oooommmppphhh to do it. I've been reading and googling etc etc to get some background info but it is boring me to tears.

I can't drop the subject because then I won't get the Social Science degree (as this is compulsory for my HRD major) and as I am only 4 subjects off finishing my degree giving up is not an option. ARRRGGHGHHHHH.

Anyhow thanks for letting me have a whinge :banghead: :banghead:

Vent away, sounds like you need it!! :hugs:

Could you maybe look at the assignment from a point of view that WILL interest you? What am I trying to say - perhaps look at it from a psychology mindset? That is the end of my advice LOL I don't know exactly how you would write it from a psychology viewpoint, but just thought I'd suggest that. Hope it helps!

Well, maybe, erm, um, perhaps, if they - nope, um, well, ..... why do people rely on cars so much? Why does this country rely on car manufacturing so much??

Yeah I suck   Don't take any more of my advice :D

you could somehow link car manufacturing to pscyhology by looking into the emotional part of buying a car and who is more likely to drive what sort of car

I am having the same issues with motivation and I can't even use the "but it's so boring" excuse.

I'm meant to be a third of the way through my dissertation. I haven't even looked at it since May ... any work I have done towards it is long forgotten which means I'll have to go over the whole lot again :banghead:

My advice (which I should take myself!) is to go to the library with only the materials necessary for that assignment. I have found that even when I have everything at home, the distractions are too available - TV, internet, phone ... heck, I even start cleaning the house to get out of writing the essay. Pack your bag in the morning and go to the uni library or even your local library (if they have desks you can work at). Stay there for at least 3 hours a go (half an hour is always spent faffing around getting everything in order and getting into the swing of things). You'll often find that however mind-numbingly dull the assignment is, when you have nothing else to do, you'll really get into it.

Best of luck!
