Hi, Im not really sure what to put this under, so I hope this is ok.

My son is now 7 weeks old. I have been feeding him EBM (as I have been unsure of my supply, we will be bf again shortly), and I have been giving him 1/3 formula to 2/3 EBM (only due to short supply but its better now, so we are just about to give 100% EBM). I have noticed the last 2 maybe 3 days his poo (sorry TMI) has been a little on the green side, like an army green. It was a mustard colour before, constantly. I was just wondering what may have caused this, if changing his food could have had anything to do with this, or whether it might be something I am eating? I would love some advice?! (Oh and we havent BF'd 100% yet, but was breast milk 100% until a few days ago).

Thanks in advance :)

I remember DDs nappy contents was always a different colour (exlusively BF) ...I think it's probably what you're eating:detective:

Green poo is usually because of sugar. So, it's either too much sugar in your diet, or he's getting too much foremilk.

If you've been expressing in small amounts before a feed, or between feeds, I would suggest it's probably all foremilk that he's been getting in the ebm, which is high in lactose (milk sugar).

Perhaps try balancing when you express (some before a feed, but mostly after, so that he's getting the right foremilk/hindmilk balance).

He has gone back to normal now, so Im thinking it may have been too much sugar in my diet. Wow I didnt know that! I did have a little splurge the other day come to think of it :o Thankyou for that, I know what I can keep an eye out for now!

The formula feed bubbas I've looked after have always had more rainbow poos than the breast fed ones, so it might have had something to do with the formula top-ups too. My DD is BF but still has the occasional green one.

If your little man is happy and healthy, then there probably isn't anything to worry about

Mandy - My bubba gets army green poos now that I started giving him a couple of bottles of formula a day too! Oh and they STINK! YUCK!

He is getting EBM for all his feeds except 2 as well... *GAG*

Pretty sure it has to do with the formula top up. :) Could be sugar too once you are giving him all EBM...Oliver gets it if I eat to much sugar too!
