Hi,

I recently had a stillborn baby at RPA Hospital, and want to try again within the next 3-6months. After seeing afew dr's and OB's i am getting confused with the treatment i should follow for my next pregnancy. Unfortunately the cause of death of my baby was unpreventable, however i found that with this pregnancy it was difficult having to see different ob's each time i went in for an appointment as i was a shared care patient.

Therefore for my next pregnancy im thinking of going private that way i will have the one OB throughout my pregnancy (hopefully)and i wont need to explain my medical background each time i go in for a visit. Dr Gil Burton has been referred to me and was wondering if anyone has seen Dr Burton during there pregnancy especially with a high risk pregnancy?.

I am going to be very nervous throughout my next pregnancy and i really need a OB who is going to be able to support me throughout the 40 weeks.

I am also currently insured through HCF and was looking at having my baby at either the Mater or North Shore Private, as im new to the whole private medical system can anyone recommend which hospital is better to go with and also any costs involved with having a baby at either one of these hospitals.

I am also curious as to how much Dr Burton charges if anyone could also help with that i would be very grateful.

Apologies for all the questions i just wanna make sure that im organised for the next pregnancy and im aware for what im up for.

Thanks for your help.

I'm also high risk and will be delivering at North Shore Private. My OB is Robert Ford and I think he is very thorough and knowledgeable. You may want to have a consultation with a couple OBs (that's what I did) and see who you feel more comfortable with. I think the initial consultations were around $200 each, but I thought it was worth it for my peace of mind.
The reason I chose NSP over the Mater was because I am having a scheduled c-section and the new recovery room at NSP will allow my baby to stay with me during the recovery period. Also, the public hospital is just across the street so if there are any serious complications requiring the baby to be transferred it would still be very close by.
I have also heard good things about Dr Burton, but he had planned to be away around my due date so that didn't work for me.
