Gay Surrogacy

Hi all,

My partner and I have been together for nearly 16 years and are contemplating surrogacy as we would dearly like to have a child one day.

We have researched options available to us (we are gay males in Victoria) and are considering a surrogate either in Australia or India.

Have anyone gone through this? We hope some of you can share your insight and thoughts.

Hi, not sure what insights you're looking for and I've not been in your situation. I'm in a same sex female couple so a bit easier for us, but wanted to say good luck and let you know two gay male friends of ours just had a beautiful baby with a friend of theirs as surrogate. Hope you have the same joy soon. I presume you dont have a friend offering, in that you're looking at various countries/options. I think its pretty easy in oz to get eggs donated but maybe not so easy to find someone to carry the baby. Have you considered asking any friends or family? Have you got plenty of cash? Thats a rhetorical question, of course. You dont need to answer. But if you do I believe you can pay women in india to carry. $30,000 comes to mind but I'm not sure if thats an accurate estimation or how'd you'd go about hooking up with the right woman. I presume you've looked into this a little as you've already said you're considering india and have done some research. Whatever you chose you're sure to get flack from some. Be prepared to be given unsolicited advice and to have people tell you you're doing the wrong thing/taking advantage of women/being unfair to the child. Some people are just opinionated and rude. Let it wash off you like water and know you are doing what you need to do to bring the love of a child into your family. Good luck.

i haven't looked into surrogacy very much, because its not something i personally could ever do. (that said, i am considering co-parenting with a gay couple once i've finished uni)

but i hope you manage to find a cheap, relatively painless way to get your own child/ren :hugs::hugs:

Thank you all for your kind comments and goodwill. We are in the very early stages.

Ideally we would like to have a child in Melbourne, however we would need to find an egg donor and a separate surrogate who can assist us become parents.

We are also still investigating the options in India.
