View Full Version : Toilet Training - When to know when to Stop and Start Again Later???
My daughter is 22 months, this is our 2nd try. I put her in underpants all day (This is the 5th day) except for naps and overnight. For the previous 4 days she has when wet herself said oh oh or wet or wee to let me know that something has happened, and we go off to the toilet (too late of course) to go through the motions and get changed - up to 4 hour intervals. Today she has wet herself twice and not said anything in fact the last time, about 30 minutes ago she was happy to run around in her wet clothes, they were very wet. Previously she hated it and walked on her tippy toes with her legs apart because she didn't want it touching her....should I stop and wait a couple of weeks and try again? Or is this normal? She has not yet done anything on the toilet.

That's the point where I stopped with ds. When he didn't seem to even care that his pants were wet. He obviously wasn't ready and I was so stressed about it all the time! Your dd isn't even 2 yet so there is plenty of time. Just try to ignor anyone who has tt'd children super early, all kids are different, it doesn't mean it wont happen. I started again when ds was a bit over 2 1/2. It's so much easier once they have an interest in doing it! We has LOTS of rewards and LOTS of expensive licensed underwear!
Whn it's getting to you (and not to them) it's time to stop...the added pressure from you will certainly add to the stress and if it's not going to happen, it's not going to happen!
We started DD at 2 and then left it for 3 months and it took just 2 days second time round....she was definitely ready then!
Thanks for your comments I decided after the post to hold off on the toilet training. I wasn't getting annoyed at her it was more that if she wasn't ready she wasn't ready and I should wait. It turns out today for her first number 2 she told my sister that she had done a poo....all without trying so that was a real bonus.
I'll try again down the track.
Thanks agin :-)
