doughnut - welcome and congratulations. iodine is recommended as it helps to regulate the thyroid and there is a higher chance of developing thyroid issues during pregnancy - can't remember why something to do with the hormones produced during pregnancy I think. I have a history of thyroid disease in my family so I make sure I get mine checked regularly, but forgot to tell my ob when I met him, so must remember that for my next appt. Blackmores pregnancy and breastfeeding has iodine in it.

Emma - hope your thyroid test comes back ok. some people develop a lump in their throat called a goiter when they have thyroid issues.

herewego - are you feeling better now? haven't started looking at maternity clothes yet, but can imagine the in between stage would be really hard. I agree with you on the heat thing, I am waiting to get warm, but am still freezing all the time as usual.

May - no ms for me. feel pretty lucky. Hope your scan went well yesterday, can't wait to hear all about it.

pigglet - wow 3kgs for twins, that is not much, but sounds like you find it hard to put on weight, although I don't think it really matters to much as long as the bubs are doing what they are supposed too. I did read somewhere, that you don't really start putting on a lot of weight till after 20 weeks.

Pls - congratulations, I will defintiely be interested to hear how many you have in there. My clinic are dead against transferring 2 till after you have been through about 5 unsuccessful transfers.

Zac - hello, glad to hear all is going well.

smiley - that is so exciting feeling bubs move and that DH got to feel her too.

Cazz - happy birthday for yesterday. Hope you had a lovely day. Did DH do anything special for you?

Peanut - wow, another announcement at the same time, shame, but at least you will have a pg buddy.

hello to everyone else.

AFM - still feeling pretty fine. stayed at M&FIL's last night as our floorboards are getting sanded and polished. they are nice, but kind of get on my nerves, they are obsessed with the idea that I am going to have a boy and carry on about it everytime I see them, (MIL saw a psychic who said we are goign to have a boy - I don't believe in psychics). it is so annoying, I just want a healthy baby, it doesn't matter what sex it is. I want a girl now though just to prove them wrong.

Jai - glad to hear you are still feeling well...looks like you will be one of the lucky one to escape the m/s. Don't you just love it when people focus on bub being a particular sex. I always say, "well you have a 50% chance of being right". But after what we have all been through, does it really matter what it is? As long as it is healthy!

Cazz - glad you had a great birthday! I have been thinking about quiche for the past 24 hours

Emma - I hope everything is okay with your results....maybe she was just measuring the actual thyroid. Yay for baby stuff shopping/investigating! Have fun, but don't faint at the prices!!

Herewego - OMG....that is very exciting that Dr Neppe wrote the forward to the book - yes he is my ob! My copy is about 5 years old......I will have to go to the book shop and have a read! When I was researching a bit about him, he seemed to have been everywhere - Royal Flying Doctors and King Edward most recently. He is also a consultant at Fertility North now as well....which is where I saw his card. I will have to buy a new copy of 'What to Expect" and get him to sign it....... he will think I am a freak!! By the way....I am loving kiwi fruit as well....was actually disappointed when DD wanted the last one yesterday!! I nearly said, "I flip you for it".

Smiley - hope you are resting up! So exciting that you can feel bub and that DH can feel her too. It is an amazing feeling. I have been feeling bub, but I think it will be a while before DH gets to feel it as my extra padding around the middle softens the blow a bit!

Peanut - glad your ob appointment went well! Your big announcements are getting mucked around . Hopefully you can do it next week!

Zac - glad everything is going well for you. your scan must be soon?

Hello to everyone else.

We had our scan yesterday and got to see our beautiful bub! However, he/she was a tad camera shy and just didn't want to play the game. 'It' was head down, with it's head tilted right back and with it's spine facing out...if that make sense. So it made it very difficult for the sonographer to see it's brain properly. They checked the limbs (ten little fingers and ten little toes :)), the heart, the stomach organs etc and all was good, but they want me to go back in 2 weeks to have another scan. Both the sonographer and the doctor (who was in the room the whole time??) assured me that they can't see anything wrong - they just can't get a good look at the brain with bub in the position it was in - so couldn't do the checks they need to do. Bub is measuring exactly 20 weeks (I was exactly 19 yesterday) - they said that is okay, as long as they measure a week either side of their date. So all good really - just need to go back to get the total story. DD came and said she saw it blink!!! I think it might have been the heart flashing away. And herewego - no there were no dangly bits I could see - but I don't think I would be able to make it out anyway....it all looks the same!!

May - your scan sounds amazing. shame he/she wasn't behaving, but that means you get to see bubs again in a couple of weeks. I agree, after what we've been through, it doesn't matter what it is, just healthy is all I really want. I mainly get upset about it as one of my Nana's played favourites with her grand children and it was really upsetting for me as a child and I don't want that to happen to our kids.

You guys all seem like you are getting so close when I have 31 weeks to go! And I feel huge. Just weighed myself and I have put on 2.5kg! In 9 weeks....is that strange? Im normally 54/55 kilos and it feels like I am HUGE!

Peanut - Aveda products are soooo beautiful aren't they? Sounds like a lovely day planned. Have fun!!

Jai - Thank you! DP bought me a digital SLR camera and some cooking books so I was very spoiled. I hope you have a girl now too! Would be great to prove them wrong! My Dad is convinced mine is a girl, I get the feeling he'll be disappointed if it's a boy :o

May - Yay for seeing your bub! Boo for it not playing fair! At least you get to go back and see it again soon!

AFM - I just had a strange experience. I went shopping & bought DP a few shirts, when the assistant said "is that cheque or savings?" I nearly started bawling! I had to stop & catch my breath. I just want to cry :crying: I'm thinking it might have been from my friend & her babies visiting yesterday. It was just so overwhelming, when DP got home I started bawling because I thought I wouldn't be a good mum. Damn these hormones are killing me! I was on such a pregnancy high! :(

Lulu - You tiny to begin with so that probably why you feel huge ...you skinny mini (not jealous much ;))

Cazz - is that why you got the ice cream ...i'm still thinking about ...oh hang on i think i still have a ice cream in the fridge at work) your going to be a great mum now tell those hormones to stop playing with your mind ...(but we have all been there i was there only last week)

Zac - happybirthday to you too (hope you see this)

21-05-2010, 15:04
Cazz - You poor lovie. Those hormones certainly do strange things to us. I am sure that seeing your friend yesterday with 3 children to look after (one being an active 3 year old) probably has played on your mind a little today. You will be a great mum....the best! It is natural to be a little anxious about the changes ahead...hey it is hard work! But the most wonderful experience. Just remember that the worst they can do is cry when they are new born (and boy can they do alot of that :hissy:).

I must admit I am pleased (probably not the right word, but you know what I mean) to hear that some of you are quite emotional.....I thought I was going crazy. I woke up the other morning after having a dream about a guy I used to go out with about 12 years ago. He was really mean to me in my dream and was cheating on me....I woke up and started sobbing!!!! What is with that??? Apart from the fact that I haven't seen this person in about 11 years, never think about him, don't give a toss about him??? I thought I was going around the twist....but just the hormones!! I guess we all thought the emotional rollercoaster ended with IVF....but it is just a different one!

Zac - Happy birthday to you!!! Hope you have a great day!

Hi lovelies,
We did the HCG level BT today.... YES we are pregnant (der we knew that) but stupid QML Pathology only ran the yes or no test not the levels... so im no further better off.Grrr Clinic are going to chase it up & see if they can run the quantitive test that they were meant to & get back to me on monday if they get any answers otherwise its off for the Scan to check heartbeats & how many on or around 9th June, which is the day after our wedding anniversary, interesting. So have another 2w4days till we find out 1 or 2 :hair: I'll be pulling my hair out well n truly out by then.thats a longer wait then my 2WW was. Our EDD is 26th Jan 2011 !!!

I just gave myself a heartache I pulled out the doppler to have a listen and I couldn't find the heartbeats but then I realised that they must be higher now lol found them baby 2 is on the right about an inch to the side of the belly button and twin 1 is about2 inches below the belly button lol what a nut thinking they were still down near the pelvic area

lulu2010
21-05-2010, 20:38
That's funny. How often are you checking? If I had one I think I'd have it permanently attached! Where did you get the doppler and how early in the pregnancy can you use it?
I'm feeling really paranoid at the moment. Had some cramping off and on. Had a tiny bit of light brown blood tuesday and the ob told me to come in and he did a scan to reassure
That there's a heart beat. And there was. Feel like I need another scan today.

Not really often to be honest ..i cant see what its called (sorry in bed and cant be bothered getting up) but if you look in the last thread i put a link to the ebay site where we all brought them from

I had brown spotting too ..i worked out that i got it the first two months when i would have been ovulating ..check your dates to my theory but i might help explain the brown spotting mine was more mucussy really but then stopped after about 4 days each time and i never got it again after the second month

lulu2010
21-05-2010, 21:08
Quick reply thanks. Yeah I just checked the dates. I think you are right and it did happen about a month ago too. And cramping? Today has been a shocker. I've been on the lounge all afternoon and evening.
That's funny that you all got them. I will definitely look it up.

Hi Guys
Up at 4am this morning, so annoyed. Its the first time I've had access to a computer since we moved house and I just wanted to post so i could see my ticker :).
Sorry for no personals but way to early for me to function properly. Hope everyone is well. I'm definately on the emotional thing as well. Been feeling abit depressed lately, no reason at all. Will post more when I'm feeling better.
 to everyone, am thinking of you all just feeling slack.

Dragon-I know all about the early mornings believe me.... it makes for very long days.
Emma- i think i'd freak too if i had one of those, get myself all in a panic when you couldnt find it.Your nearly half way does it feel like it??
LuLu-that must takle the wind out of your sails when you spot like that.Least its happened to others & we can bounse off each other.
Cazz-Im positive you will be a great mum,but i know its a daunting thought at times but it will come naturally when you see & hold that little bundle that will rely on you for every little need it has or wants.Chin up, bloomin hormones, making beautiful ladies doubt themselves in ways they shouldnt.

Thanks for the congrats guys:hugs: Well after a big stuff around cause QML pathology ran my HCG BT but only gave the clinic a POSITIVE result not the quantative as requested. So WFC rang yesterday & said congrats but we dont know the numbers.... so they chased it up & catherine just rang me back my levels were 510 for 16dpo.She said i snuck in early & got them cause they wanted them done monday:D so anyway there not going to bother re-testing HCG level ,just have to do ultrasound for the heartbeat & numbers on or around the 9th June.So the numbers dont really mean much to me...

Happy Weekend Ladies! (and Simon where ever you are) :flowerz:

PJ1M - That's fantastic that you ended up getting the quantitative results! They sound like great numbers Congratulations!! Now the dreaded 2WW until the scan! Thanks for your words of support. I'm feeling much better, won't be crying at any shop ladies today

Dragon - :smiliedance: for moving house! You did it!! It sucks to be up that early in the morning doesn't it? It usually happens to me when I get up for the loo then can't get back to sleep. I'm sorry you've been feeling down too. It really is just the hormones talking! They play nasty tricks on us.

Lulu - I had a little bit of spotting too and worked out that mine happened around when my normal periods would have been. It was never very much though and stopped quickly.

Emma - You sausage! I think I'd constantly have that thing attached so I'm kind of glad I don't have one. It would give me another thing to panic about! :p My miserable mood was def what brought on the ice cream! I don't think it helped much, but then DP came home & took me out for dinner and I felt much better. He's an absolute gem.

May - It's nice to know we are not alone in this! It's so supportive when others can relate and confirm that we are not crazy or plain miserable! I have been on such a preg high that feeling down hit me like a brick. I think seeing my friend with 3 kids was a little overwhelming. I have no idea how she copes. She must be a very strong lady. I can cope with one! One will be easy... :o
I've also been having stupid dreams! I think mine were caused by watching too many crime shows on TV. So DP has banned them now. I am only allowed 'happy' TV

AFM - Thanks so much for all your words of support. I feel much better today and I know it's just the hormones making me all over the place. I think it will help when I actually look pregnant too! ATM I just feel really podgy & fat!! Hurry up baby belly!

Lulu2010 - I'm similar to you, was about 55kg before IVF cycle (which is actually about 5kg heavier than my usual weight) and just had my first obs appointment (9wk) and I have put on 3.4kg! Obs didn't seem that concerned.

pj1m- It's awful waiting for that scan isn't it? I just had my second scan and this time it looked like a baby! First one just confirmed only 1 baby there and heartbeat/size etc. 2nd scan - baby was wriggling around and moving arms and legs! So reassuring to see it moving.

AFM, asked obs about iodine and she said if not eating much seafood I can take Blackmores I-Folic. My usual chemist didn't want to sell it to me because I am on elevit, but 2nd chemist said I wouldn't overdose on folic acid with the two and afterall the obs said it was ok. I was using iodised salt before so hopefully my levels were ok, but I found this info from NHMRC (http://www.nhmrc.gov.au/_files_nhmrc/file/publications/synopses/new45_statement.pdf) which recommends supplementing, so I figure I'll feel better if I know I'm doing what I can. And have finally found a way I can consume some vegetables without :barf: solution: vegetarian pizza!

Hey ladies, thanks for the bday wishes. I had a crappy day at work but a lovely night last night and today has been great. My mum came down we had a great day in the city together and...... picked up the bugaboo!! ( finally you all say!) Now DH has to put it together.

I got a great DSLR camera for my bday ( Cazz isnt that what you got??!) because Id love to take great baby photos. So now I have to basically do crash course in photography cause I think its gonna be complicated.

Anyway say the OB last week and he mentioned that they will measure my cervial length at the 19 weeks scan to make sure the septum I had removed a year ago wont give the baby issues. I havent thougth too much about it being a problem until today. I so hope its all normal becuase there could be issues with premi labour if its shortened. He didnt seem to think I had anything to worry about but its hard when they put an idea into ones head!!

Doughnut- I use iodised salt in everything. It feels and tastes the same and from the supermarket.

Cazz- Howd you go with the denim number? Is it over yet? Will check after this.

Emma- I dont think I could cope with the Doppler. I would be like you and freaking out if I couldnt find the HB. So glad you worked it out tho.

May- Yipee for a good scan!!

Dragon- Hope you are feeling perkier soon. its gotta be the hormones. Retail therapy help?

AFM- Sorry Ive already done AFM but I think on my bday morn the bub really arrived!! I am sure I didnt go to the bed the night before with my tum so out there???!!!!:smiliedance:

Hi everyone,

May suggested I join this thread.

We finally got our BFP on our 5 ET. I am now 9 weeks pregnant and very excited!!!
According to dates - we are due 22 December however at our first scan the sonographer's measurements dated us at 1 January, but then we had another US at the obstetrician on Monday and she dated us at 25 December. So we are due sometime at the end of December!!!

Hello to May and Jai - hope to get up to speed with everyone else soon too. Hope you are all enjoying the weekend

Hi Guys
Welcome EKmum!
Pls- great results! now the countdown to the scan, we are always counting down the days aren't we? So glad you are here.
Cazz- Yes it's quite annoying the nightly loo trips and then not being able to get back to sleep. Well I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling nutty:) . DH said something before and I just felt like bursting into tears. Well I'm showing past my usual belly. Oh and I haven't been having chocolate milk lately
AFM- Can only access the internet early in the mornings or late at night now bummer so can't stalk you guys as much. Hopefully will get a good un-interrupted sleep tonight. take care.

Morning :flowerz:

Doughnut - Mmm... pizza.

Zac - Glad you had a good birthday! :smiliedance: for picking up the Bugaboo!!! I got a DSLR too!! How funny. What kind did you get? I went for a Canon 550D. I've been testing it out at my mums farm. It's so funny how similar we are. Our birthdays are a day apart. Our bubs are due a day apart. We're both teachers, Love our furbabies, budding photographers and Bugaboo advocates!!

EK - Welcome & congratulations!! :sunshine: Sounds like you are getting a lovely Chrstmas present this year!

Dragon - I've cut back on the choccy milk but still indulging quite a bit. I decided that Milo was a healthier alternative than Oak ;)

AFM - Off to my mums again today for a birthday dinner with the fam. Working tomoz & then heading to my Gran's for a cooking lesson. I'm making caramelised onion & goats cheese tarts... YUMMMMM. I haven't felt bub for a little while & not really feeling preggers lately. Can't wait for my scan to make sure everything's all good!

HI all

welcome EKMum - congratulations and welcome to the insanity!

Cazz - happy birthday! All will be fine on your scan, movement was really hit and miss for me until this last week...soon you'll feel them every day and it does really help with the pregnant insanity lol

Dragon - bummer about the restricted net time....it must make it hard not being able to get a fix when ever. I am highly emotional as well.....all part of the joy. I seem to make it through to about 6am before i get dragged out of bed by my bladder lol

Zac - happy birthday to you too! My hubby is a photography freak...so i don't even need to own a camera lmao. I have a lil digital (that he chose for me) just incase a photo is needed when he is not there lol

donught - vege pizza is a great option. I really struggled with fresh vege smell early in pregnancy lol it does get better!

Cazz - emotional is normal hun...i am having lil tanty's far to regular and cry so easily its rediculous! I think pregnancy for ever makes us softer....before Elliott i was a horror movie buff....now i can not even watch them and that was 5 years ago...i can't help feeling sorry for everyone and it makes me cry lmao

pj1m - those results are great....glad you didn't have to wait till monday!

lulu - i am guilty of doppler purchase as well lol. When i was freaking out i was using it 3 times a week....now i use it maybe once a week....once i started feeling her move it slowed right down lol....but when i am bleeding...i always check for HB

Emma - i haven't found a brilliant pram answer for you ... still looking though. One gf said when she had to use pub transport she had a light umbrella pram and a sling....so one in each....not sure if that an option as i don't think you can use the umbrella pram from birth. They are cheap though so might be a handy helper?

AFM - no bleeding or spotting since Wednesday (yippee) and i even went for a very very slow walk in the park with DS yesterday (flat no hills) and loved being outside!

I am stuck in the middle of a stupid row between mil and step mil and spat it this morning....its rediculous! I wish they would both go to hell.. MIL at least means well (even if she is way overstepping the boundaries) Step mil is just being a cow and demanding to see us and have a roll in babies life even though DH's dad has no interest and we have only seen them 3 times in 4 years!!! Arrrggggggg, I know i need to :chillpill: but i am getting email after email and i want to :banghead: at both of them!

cazzstar
23-05-2010, 10:52
Thanks Smiley :) So glad to hear that you haven't had any bleeding lately! You even got to experience the outdoors! Yay! I'm so glad that everyone else is having these emotional outbursts too. It's madness for me. DP plays guitar & I sing, we used to bash out a tune every now & then, but lately I can't even sing a single line without sniffling. It doesn't even have to be a sad song! I didn't realise the emotional energy that went into singing before!

Your in-laws situation sounds frustrating. Could you ignore emails from them both until they grow up? Or better still, forward the emails to DH to deal with? Men usually have a lower level of patience for these things & he might put them in their place so you don't have to?! It's amazing that people only ever think of themselves isnt it? It seems neither of them understand that this is a stressful enough time for you without their bickering! Call screening I say! :hugs:

Boo hoo the weekend is coming to an end!! Only 15 school weeks till I am on maternity leave. The countdown is on! Tempted to put an end of work ticker!

Cazz- Tell me about the weirdness! Bub hub was destined to bring us together!!:detective:
DH got me the Canon EOS 1000D. The portrait lens takes really nice photos.

Smiley- Shame about the inlaws! I think I must be a rarity on here as my inlaws are fabulous, so generous and caring and have been a great support for us. Possibly on the interfering side but managable! Great news about the bleeding free days, that is excellent news.

Welcome EKmum! :wave:A Christmas baby, how lovely.

AFM-Well put the bugaboo together this arvo:smiliedance: and we are rather proud of ourselves. I love that it has a bassinet as well as stroller, should last many years. The strawberry smoothie fatuation has started. DH and I went out for lunch today and he ordered a pepsi spider and I had a strawberry milkshake... How old are we??!!

Hi everyone,

Cant believe another weekend is over. Need a holiday!

Doughnut: I have my first öfficial 9 week ob appointment on tuesday so we will see what he says about the weight gain.

At the moment Im more concerned about spotting since friday - thankfully it is not red but Im having cramping as well. Hoping everything turns out ok.

Smiley girl: If I have the doppler now I wonder if I could pick up a heart beat this early? Havent found the link yet but will try to this week.

NEWS FLASH FOR NAUSEA!!!

A friend suggested blackmores morning sickness pills. OMG!!!! Do these things work! I totally wiped out my nausea that has been there constantly but alleviated a bit with the sea sick bands and accupuncture. But I would kill for these pills...they are awesome.

Zac- I think I need to google the bugaboo :)
lulu- hope the spotting stops and everything will be ok. I've gained lots of weight too :( I'm 14 weeks and I think I've put on 7 kgs.

EKMum - Welcome

Ok so the new pain in Emmas butt is our car we worked out on the weekend that to have two baby seats in the back and the attachment is where the hatch door shuts meaning i cant use the boot ...that said DH want to run out and buy a new car ...helloo where the heck he thought we would be getting the money from ..silly pickle

So now we have to go get an engineer to attach a steal bar behind the backseats hopefully he can do cause otherwise we are stuffed

Now if i hear one more word from you lovelly ladies about your weight i'm may have to come slap you ....your meant to put on weight ...WE are having babies ...now if you were like me a not putting on weight then freak out ..two babies no weight something to worry about ..i got told the other day that i dont look big at all and for someone that is having twins and is half way there i want to look preggers i still dont even get a seat on the bus LOL

Smiley - Glad things are settling down hopefully they stay that way

I think i found the stroller i want McClaren Twin Techno ..we told FIL that it is quite expensive eckkkk $700 and something but he said he didnt care just tell where to go get it ..ok then phewww one thing out of the way

Cant wait for my morph scan on Thursday just want to see how the babies are doing

:sunshine:Happy Monday everyone:sunshine:

Cazz - your shopping sads seem pretty normal altho I haven't had the tears yet, just random attacks of fury! I so want the baby belly instead of just feeling frumpy too.

Emma - your doppler experience! That's one reason I don't have one. That's so great about getting the pram you want as a gift.

Dragon - sorry you've been feeling a bit down lately. Is it just preggy blues or something that's going on for you atm? Hang in there:goodvibes:

Doughnut and Lulu - I started off at about 52kg but had to gain weight to get UTD. Since last November when I was up to 58kg I haven't weighed myself at all so I'll never be able to know what I gained during pregnancy but my OB hasn't shown any interest at all, so whatever...

Zac - glad you had a lovely bday evening. Woohoo for the Bugaboo! What colour/s did you get? How long before you are due will you stop working? I can't wait for mat leave either!

EKmum - congrats and welcome! Looks like a fab Christmas pressie is coming your way...

Cazz and Dragon - ugh I have trouble getting back to sleep after early morning pee trips too, so annoying.

Cazz and Zac - kinda funny and cool how similiar you guys are! How are you liking the DSLR's? I've been thinking of getting on too before bub comes. Will you use it manually or just on the auto settings?

Smiley - :yelclap:for no spotting and getting out and about! Sounds like complete garbage with your MILs, keep out of it as much as possible I reckon.

AFM - nice weekend. Had lunch with a friend with three kids, she warned me that I could deliver early - hadn't even considered that! Just want to tell work this week (Wed) and get that done. Am chubbing up but want a bump!

Emma - good luck with sorting out the car thing.....just another thing to have to sort out hey!! But yay for your pram....great that your FIL is so generous! I am with you with the heartattack witht he doppler.....I did the same at the weekend....could find bub...tried not to panic...had a walk around....tried again and then there it was, right up under my belly button. I only use the doppler about twice a week...but that was the first time I haven't been able to find the heartbeat (except for the very first use!). I am sure it is harder for you...you have to find 2 heartbeats floating around in there!

Can you please update the honour roll for my 'gender' to read A SURPRISE!

EKmum - welcome! Glad you joined us. Crazy about your conflicting dates...I thought with IVF they were always pretty sure of the due dates?? Anyway, bub will come when it is ready....what a beautiful way to end the year though!!

Girls I wouldn't worry too much about weight gain - everyone is so different. I have had friends who have put on 25 kilos and others who have put on next to nothing. I am sure our obs will speak up if they think there is a problem. Em - I am sure you are concerned especially as you have two little pumkins in there - but your ob is on to the thyroid problem....I am sure everything will be okay and you will have this beautiful basketball soon! I still have only put on half a kilo (after lossing 5kg at the beginning of my pregnancy) and I am fine according to ob. I must say though, that I am a weeee bit heavier than you guys to start with . Same thing happend with DD. And when you have bub you loose about 5 kilos straight away (with the weight of bub and the placenta) and then you pee like a race horse for days which helps get rid of the fluid....within 2 weeks of having DD I had lost about 12 kilos - so ended up much lighter than when I fell pregnant. But everyone is different - just enjoy your changing body and this special time in your life where your weight really doesn't matter.

Hope everyone is having a nice Monday :flowerz:

This is the pram we went with in the end ..i just send FIL an email i hope he doesnt fall over LOL

May - We are both silly sausages as Cazz would say ... i know if i can find the heartbeat its more me than them LOL ...but finding two is a little tricky i do ask when i have my scan what way they are so i can track them....I told DH to feel my belly the other day and he like i might hurt their heads LOL

Emma - just checked out your pram! Looks great! Not too big and bulky and has all the bits you need. It looks like it will do the twins right up until they are kiddlewinks (2-3ish). It is a good weight too - mine is 9kilos which is light and it is a single - so 12kilos for a double is brilliant. does fold down nice an compact?

We are silly sausages....sounds like your DH is a silly sausage too!! Hehehe - did you tell him he won't hurt their heads and it is probably a bum anyway!!! I wonder how much the twins change position...as in relation to each other. I guess there will come a point where they have to stay where they are...like head and tail or head and head, as there won't be any room to move! I have this vision of them all snuggled up together with their foreheads together....or maybe that is just in the movies!

Thanks for adding my SURPRISE!!!

May - It does fold nicely that was the selling factor really the wheels are the small ones.... those ones that are like tractors wheels are tooo bulky alright if you have a larger car ..which evenually we will get but it just no worth te refinance at the moment grrrrr thing is we went from a large car to a small car two years ago we thought we would be waiting for IVF (Donor Sperm) for much longer and then totally didnt expect twins LOL

The sonographer said they are head to head sort of and head being up near my belly button and the smaller one is kind of at a angle they are meant to be able to flip now at the stage we are at i was reading the other day ..i told then no flip cause you might tangle your cords around the your necks they have been told

no worries PT added at the same time so we doubled up LOL

Emma - bummer about the car!! My old car was like that (hyundai excel) but newer models have the seat attachment on the back of the seat rather then at the far side of the boot. I think it changed about 2000. It was a total PIA with 1 seat and i often had 2 kids in car seats and that was soooo annoying...but it was doable....you just have to unclip the seats to load and unload the boot. You may still be able to trade in and get a new 2nd hand car with the attachment in a better place.

hi to everyone else....head struggling to get all in order cause i just got home from hospital (again) after starting to bleed again this morning. They were on the verge keeping me in but i convinced them i would come back if anything changed then i would come straight back.

My goal is to stay out of hospital until next monday (after DS's birthday and party and DH's birthday). I am a bit worried as i have not finished birthday shopping yet and I have party food to plan and make....DH helping loads....but i am still stuck for ideas on what i can do for him...and he deserves to be spoilt!

Sadly, next time i go in, they have told me I probably won't be let out for at least a week...as stat's show the more "moderate" bleeds you have the more likely you are to hemorage. I so do not want to be stuck in there....i was doing fine until they talked about admitting me...then i cried lol

Spoke to my mum, she is going to pack a bag and be ready for if i go to hospital so she can be here within 48 hours max. DH is lucky that his job is flexible...he can take time off at short notice and make sure Elliott is ok and help mum settle in.

feeling blah...very resigned to the worst atm.

Smiley - massive hugs for you girl ..if you lived in Sydney i would totally do your shopping for you and bring it to you so you didnt have to stress over ...when i say me i really mean my DH LOL ...but i hope i settles and you dont have to go into hospital but maybe mum coming down might be a good thing if she can might help with day to day things

Smiley - sorry to hear that you are bleeding again and that you may have to go into hospital. It is good that your mum can come and help out.

Zac - happy birthday for the other day.

EKMum - welcome. great to see you over here.

Emma - that pram looks great. People keep asking me what we're going to get, but want to wait till after 12 weeks to look.

May (and Emma) - glad you found the heartbeat. I don't think I want a doppler, I think it would stress me out too much, and am sure DH would say no.

Peanut - when are you going to stop work? I was planning on stopping at 34 weeks, which is the recommended time at my work, but they let you work longer if your ob says its ok.

Cazz - hope you had a great dinner at your mums last night for your birthday.

Dragon - how annoying having restricted internet access. I have been waking up early to go to the loo and can't always get back to sleep, it's so annoying, and then I wake the dog up and she wants to be let out and hope into our bed.

lulu - glad you found a cure for your nausea.

herewego - hello. hope you are good.

hello to everyone else.

AFM - had a busy weekend. floorboards got sanded and polished on friday - yay. kitchen is nearly finished, just the painting to go. babyshower on saturday, and niece's 2nd birthday on sunday. plus made lamb roast and soup yesterday. better get back to work. finding motivation hard at the moment. DH and I have just booked to go to north Queensland for 2 weeks in June - yay.

Smileygirl - I'm so sorry to hear you are having more bleeding. It must be so worrying for you. At least you know your mum is on hand so you don't have to worry about DS and DH. It sounds like you need to plan plan plan what you're going to buy for DH (from the comfort of your bed) and then go out and buy everything in 1 go. Or better yet, order it online.

Emma - that sperm really didn't consider what kind of car you have before it decided to bless you with twins did it  BTW I've been meaning to ask - is there any history of twins in the sperm donor's records, or is it just a random sort of thing? I imagine that sort of info would be on their records.

Your pram looks like it will be nice and light to move around with.

Dragongal - I hope you're feeling a bit better today. I must admit I went to bed feeling a little 'unappreciated' and have been a bit of a grump all day. The weekend seemed to whizz past so I don't think that helped either!

Zac - are you finishing at the end of term 3? That's when I'll be finishing too. That will be the 2nd last week of October by our school calendar. It doesn't seem that far away does it? I keep telling myself that this will be the last time I write reports for a while, and it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling

Cazzstar - I hope you had a nice birthday dinner last night. You're certainly getting well cooked for this birthday!

Peanut - I'm sure work will figure it out for themselves if you don't tell them soon

May - almost half way there!! :smiliedance:

Lulu - congratulations on finding a cure for your m/s. I hope it does the trick from now on.

EKMum - hello stranger :p

AFM - very little action going on here. I had a busy busy day yesterday cooking, and I think I suffered a bit of burn out by the end of the day. DH HATES doing the dishing but I think I guilted him into doing them by telling them he couldn't have any dinner if he didn't want to wash the plates (this was after he said that he hadn't eaten any of the stuff I'd cooked - except the lunch, banana cake, and dinner!!) Anyway, I went to bed feeling a bit grumpy, and still feel a bit of a cloud above my head today. I'm brewing arguments in my head - poor DH, he's not going to be able to do anything right today

Herwego - Twins is not a genetic thing

One of the mods posted this just today ..she says it better than i ever could

Do Twins Run in families?

This is probably one of the biggest myths out there. If I had a dollar for everytime I asked "do you have twins in your family?" I think I would be close to a millionaire. (Well, a girl can dream ;))

While some families do seem to have a multitude of multiples, it's most likely more of a coincidence than a connection.

Certainly, with fraternal twins (two eggs released at ovulation and fertilised) it may be a case of hyper-ovulation; the tendency to release multiple eggs during ovulation. So, in a family where women have the gene for hyper-ovulation, it may be passed on from one woman to the next (hence, many twins in that family).

Because only women ovulate, this gene is only relevant on the maternal side of the family. Although there is a school of thought that suggests men can carry the gene and pass it on to their daughters. If this is true though, if someone came up and asked you if you had twins in your family because you have twins now, and you only had them on the fathers' side, it is irrelevant that there are a history of twins there or not.

Identical twins (monozygotic = one egg that seperates) is entirely a freak of nature, and no one knows for sure why it happens. It is thought that it is more prevalent in both IVF babies and older women, as these eggs are less stable.

What kind of twins are in the family?
If they are fraternal (dizygotic) twins, there is a faint possible yes.
Remember, ID (monozygotic) twins are random.

Are the twins in your family a result of assisted reproduction?:
Then no, you are not at an increased chance. With IVF and other assited reproduction methods, there has been a rise in the number of multiple births. But consider this: If your cousin was taking clomid and ended up with twins, then that would have no impact on YOUR ability for twins.

Whose side of the family has the twins?
Remember- hyper ovulation can only occur in women. Therefore, if the maternal side of the family has a history of fraternal twins, then you may be in for a chance.
If it was your fathers side (paternal) kiss that twin idea goodbye, as twins for you will be random.

Other factors to consider:
Maternal age, race, weight, diet, reproductive history (including use of assisted reproductive technologies)

Evening Everyone

Herewego - You sound like you have had a busy weekend! Get that whip cracking & make DH wash up the cheeky bugger ;) I know how the brewing arguments in your head go, sometimes it keeps me awake at night thinking of completely unimportant, random & petty things it's sooo frustrating!

Jai - You lucky thing! House reno's coming along & holidays planned! I'm jealous :p I love it when you get in those really productive moods, it doesn't happen very often with me though!

Smiley - That sucks that the bleeding has come back :( Just when you thought it had stopped too. I'm glad your mum is getting prepared to come help out, that must be a weight off your mind. It will suck if you have to stay in hospital but it would be enforced bed rest. I know when my BF had to go in for bed rest with the twins it was mainly because the doc knew she had a 3 year old at home. It's so hard to sit around home & not do the things you regularly do! I hope it stops for you & you get to enjoy the birthdays. Thinking of you lots :hugs:

May - You are so right about the weight gain. I was thrilled when my Obs said she does weigh women anymore because it means absolutely nothing unless they are quite obviously over or under weight. I love that you have been through this before and can be our voice of reason!

Peanut - I have heard that the random fury is quite common too! I have had that less, unless you count road rage which I'm terrible for. DP was stunned the other day when I hurled abuse at a slow driver ;-) I would love a bump too. We'll get there!! ha ha

PT - Nice work on the eBay Bugaboo! I keep looking on there too.

Zac - Forgot to tell you that I missed out on the denim Bugaboo on eBay. I was winning until the last minute too! Next time I just need to commit & wack in a high but reasonable bid straight up.

AFM - Had a lovely dinner last night with the fam. We had a blackout just as dinner was cooked so it was kind of fun eating with candles and torches! Made for a different night anywho!

Today & yesterday I have had really, really sore hips. Has anyone else felt this? It's getting so bad it hurts to walk. Might have to mention it to the Obs next time.

Cazzstar - I haven't had any hip pain but I have noticed that when I stand up after sitting down for a while I get a pain in my lower back, like a pinched nerve, and I have to hobble for a while :o It goes away once I've moved around a bit.

I have NO energy today. I woke up really early this morning so I think that's catching up with me. We're going to the in-laws for dinner tonight so I hope it's an early one. DH offered to make me a tea or a hot chocolate before, which I didn't want, and then he made himself a coffee. Cheeky bugger, he still doesn't think I should drink coffee because I never use to, even though the doc said it's okay every now and then. I just steal sips of DH's instead.

DH's friend just rang and said a job he was meant to do tomorrow has fallen through so he's going to come and do our pergola :smiliedance: DH is now hurriedly lifting pavers in preparation. I told him that now we can start on the sleepout (which will be the office - it just needs painting, curtains, and a bit of re-arranging) as the pergola will only take a day or 2, and then we can start on the nursery (which is currently the office) :yelclap:

Evening ladies! Sorry for crashing again! I just wanted to ask if any of you experienced AF type pains in early pregnancy? Today has been particularly awful, and I'm freaking out! I am 7w tomorrow, and got to see a lovely heartbeat last Thursday. I am counting down to this Thursday for another scan, but just feeling a bit yuck tonight. I have still had queasiness today, and the (.)(.)'s are still tender, it's just the cramps I feel so distracting.

Thanks again for your help, I am a self-confessed worry wart!

Hi guys
just a couple of pregnancy questions :) is anyone doing any sort of exercise? If so what type? I've been abit lazy since being preggers, just going to work buggers me. Also has anyone being told NOT to reach for anything? I'm not allowed to stretch or reach for anything, everyone keeps telling me this.
Now for a a vent:) I had a couple come into the restaurant for dinner. The lady was preggers, so I warmed to her straight away. Everytime I see pregnant women now I get kinda excited. Anyway as more people came in and I was running back and forth to the kitchen they made a runner :( why do people do that? I was pretty shocked! Anyway just wanted to share that, it's the first time it's ever happened, just didn't expect that one from a pregnant lady....

peanut22
25-05-2010, 06:08
Dragon - Wow, the preggy lady did a runner! That's unbelievable. Mind you, apparently ladies with prams are amongst the top shoplifters too. As for exercise I am walking the dog three times a week and doing a weekly pre-natal yoga class. The yoga class is totally about stretching and bending! They say that when you are pregnant, everything gets squished inside and that's why we get digestive issues and aches and pains. So it's really important to stretch everything out and give it all some space. It feels great actually. Stretching is something you really need at this time! The books just say to avoid overheating and ab work.

dragongal77
25-05-2010, 10:10
Thanks peanut:)
how's your little peanut going? Nearly 15 weeks now :) are you really showing yet? I started showing around 11 weeks. Has it sunk in yet? Have you bought anything? I think I will ask about yoga classes as i'm starting to feel like a slob. And apparently the more active you are the easier the labour ( so scared of that bit :) ) do you realise that once people find out you're preggers they love sharing their labour stories...and most of the people I know have had difficult labours. Are you going to find out the sex of your bubs?
Hello to everyone else.

peanut22
25-05-2010, 10:18
Dragon - ugh I so don't want to hear anyone's labour stories. Actually my friend who just had her first baby gave me a tip - that if any random people ask you if it's your first just say no bc otherwise they'll give all this advice that you don't want! Yes we are def going to find out the sex, can't wait. Scan is booked for 24 June. How about you? Yoga is great and so is brisk walking, I need to try to get out there every morning before work. Been a bit slack. I am showing but can still cover it with loose clothes. Just feeling really frumpy. Have you bought and maternity gear yet? Still really hasn't sunk in yet - you? I'm not going to shop till after the 19 week scan, dunno why really. Researching tho! Have you bought anything?

jai9
25-05-2010, 10:41
shy - I had cramping on and off from about week 4 to week 8. so I think it's pretty normal.

Dragon - I would not have expected that from a preggie lady. I could never do something like that. I take the dog for a walk about 3 times a week, but it is not a very energetic walk like I used to do, I tried that last night, but had to come home as started feeling sick.

Peanut - am going to have to start preggie yoga soon, it sounds really good. there is a class on saturdays near me

Cazz - good luck bidding next time.

herewego - sounds like you had a busy weekend like us. it will be great to get the pergola done and start sorting things out. I can't wait to start putting everything back in the kitchen so we can get the rest of the sorted out.

emma - wow I had no idea about all that info about twins, very interesting.

AFM - DH left for Melbourne for a conference this morning, gets back on Sunday, so hopefully that will give me a chance to get the house straigtened.

Ladies, for those of you due near Christmas, have people already started asking you about inductions and c-sections to avoid a Christmas Day baby? I swear almost everyone I talk to mentions it. I don't see it as a problem and it is really sweet of people to care, but I was just wondering if we were all getting the same reaction.

Hi everyone...happy Tuesday to you all!

Dragon - wow, they did a runner! So that really does happen.....I don't know how people live with themselves! I did pregnancy water aerobics when I was having DD and loved it - it was really gentle and great when the old belly got a bit heavy! Mind you I haven't even looked into it this time yet....must do that.

Peanut - yeah, block your ears to the horror labour stories!! It is really not that bad...I said to DH about 5 minutes after giving birth "Okay, so that wasn't too bad, I'd do it again"!!! I always think that if it was THAT bad, no one would ever have second, third etc children!

Positivethinker - that is weird that everyone is assuming you dont want your bub born on Xmas! Just tell them after what you have been through, you don't care when it is born....it is your little miracle!

Shy - I too had cramping on and off until about 10-11 weeks and still have a little every now and then. It was like AF craming. I think it is quite normal as everything is adjusting in there - but if it gets really painful or is accompanied by bleeding then contact your doc.

Herewego - how is Operation Pergola going? It will be great for you to be able to get the rest of the house sorted before you get to the point that you don't feel like moving!!

Emma - how are you today? When is your next trek to the hopital....next week?

AFM - I remembered this morning that I have to go for my first glucose test on Thursday morning - 20 weeks exactly. Does anyone else have PCOS? And if so, has your obs suggested early testing for Gestational Diabetes? My ob wants me tested at 20 weeks and then again at 28 weeks. I don't mind as if it is caught early it much more easily managed....but I find it strange as with DD's pregnancy I wasn't tested at all!!! And I had PCOS then. Just shows how different obs are...this one seems very much on the ball.

Yay Smiley...that is great news about your mum coming! When is E's birthday and party....will she be here for that?

I am sure you have it all sorted, but I have a couple of really easy (but very cute) kids party food ideas if you want them. You could assemble one of them while 'couching' it!

One is tiny teddys in cars - you get a mini milkyway and you melt a little chocolate and stick 4 smarties on the milkyway to make wheels and then with a sharp knife you make an cut in the top of the milkyway and you push a tiny teddy into the chococlate - so it looks like he is driving the car - I can email you a picture if you like. They are really easy and the kids love them.

The other one is you buy plastic 'shot' glasses and you set jelly in them and then when they are set you put a lolly of some description on top - to fit the theme, if there is one. For example DD had a Strawberry Shortcake party last year - so I set strawberry jelly and then put a strawberry and cream lolly on each one. They loved them!

Anyway - thought they might make your life a bit easier as they are quick and easy.

How is the bleeding? Hope it has gone. Rest up lovie.

Emma I get asked a lot 'do twins run in your family?' also.
The funny thing is my mum has twin brothers.. - Which are identical...
And most people dont know that I have had IVF (And I dont usually explain that to most people!!)
And its very very very likely that our twins are fraternal as we had two put back. (I would laugh very hard if they turned out to be identical!)
But yeah, trying to explain that twins dont run in the family is quite funny!
Emma I read approx the same thing you had posted.
That if twins did run in the family, it has to come from the mothers side and its fraternal twins - where you release two eggs in one go. :D - Its all very interesting tho!

On another note, I had my 2nd scan today. It was soooo cool! Sooo much better than the first!!
One of the babies was sooo active and wouldnt keep still to be measured!! It was soo funny! But very cute. Doc was trying to point out the legs and arms and they were moving all over the place!
the other one was much more mellow. It did a small kick and a wave. I think the hyperactive one prob takes after DH!

Hi Liv,
Im due the 16th of Dec!

Good afternoon all :flowerz:

May - I agree about the weight gain. I just think it's best to eat well and let nature do what it needs to do. Nice to know that much of it comes off quickly tho! I am also very glad to hear that labour wasn't the complete hell others love to describe, thank you.

Emma - your pram looks great! Hope you can get the car sorted.

Smiley - oh cr*p about the bleeding. So not fair. I'm glad your Mum is on the way tho. Pls take it easy and don't worry about anything you 'should' be doing.

Jai - my work has the same policy about maternity leave, 6 weeks before or longer with a doctor's note. I'm going early tho! Just bc we are renting while our house is renovated and the commute is horrible plus I am hoping to be busy moving back into our house in October. So I'm thinking I'll go about 8 weeks before. DH and I have a babymoon in Pt Douglas booked for July. I do my yoga on a Sat too, really nice way to start the weekend and just not up for it after work so it's perfect!

Herewego - about work finding out if I don't tell them. Funnily enough one of my teammates asked me yesterday if we're planning kids. I don't know if he was suspicious or just nosy! I just mumbled, maybe. I do that stupid argument building in my head too and get all worked up then explode, ridiculous. The progress on your house sound fantastic!

Cazz - Have had one sore hip for a couple of days and other random aches and twinges in the groin area. Sounds worth mentioning if it is so bad you can't walk though. Does anyone else sometimes get the worst pain on sneezing, depending on the position you're in (esp lying down)?

Liv - welcome and congratulations!

Muse - your scan sounds great. So cool that they have different personalities already.

AFM - tomorrow I finally tell my boss and team at work. So keen to get that over with now.

liv - welcome and congratulations. I am due 12th December.

Peanut - we are going to Port Douglas in June for our babymoon. Going to fly into Cairns and then hire a car and drive up to Palm cove and Port Douglas. have just started looking into accommodation there. It looks amazing, so hard to decide.

May - my sis did those jellly shots on the weekend for my niece's 2nd birthday and they were a massive hit with the kids and looked really good too.

Jai - we are doing exactly the same thing and staying in Pt Douglas for a week. Bring it on!

Hi Ladies,

Hope you are all well!!

Been super busy lately and was wondering why I had stopped getting email updates and then realied there was a new thread! Anyway, found you all now.

I will apologise in advance for not going back and reading the dozen or so pages I have missed, will just catch up on news as we go.

But I must mention that I noticed that PlsJust1More has joined us!! Congratulations, I'm so happy for you!

Congrats to all the other newly UTD ladies as well :bee:

AFM - has anyone else had heart palpatations? I figured it was normal - just the baby taking all of the blood or something (the little monster takes everything else lol!)

Anyway, DP wore me down after I had a particularly bad bout of them last night so I called the Dr today. I figured it would be a standard "its perfectly normal, just take it easy" response. but no, I got the " you better come in so I can check it out", followed by the good old blood test and being booked in to see a cardiologist on Friday!

I figure, it is all just super precautionary.. Has anyone else had this symptom?

Hi girls!

welcome Liv and congratulations!!

Peanut and Jai - very very jealous of your holidays!! Have a great time and tell us loads so i can live vicariously through you lol

Peanut - labour really not that bad for most people. I had a 6 hour labour with DS and he was 10 lb 4 oz! I did have a few stitches but seriously, once they put the bub in your arms you pay no attention. Your body will see you through and you'll be fine. If something does happen, you'll be in the right place for help. block your ears and try to think happy thoughts....i found accupuncture really helped with the mind set and also prepared me physically.

Muse - glad your scan was good....looks like you'll have one active and one relaxed twin....that should be fun!

may - E's birthday on friday and his party on Sunday so she'll just miss it. Love your birthday food ideas but sadly Elliott can't have anything with preservatives or colours (makes him hyper). I am keeping the food simple though....and its arvo tea and not lunch so not going over board. Dh going to do most of it for me...i spent last night making party bags on the lounge lol

Pos - i have never heard of people having c sections or inductions to avoid christmas day...i could see it happening though ... OB's would prob prefer it.

Hugs to everyone else....i can't see any further back without opening another page and it seems to crash when i do that lol

Hi everyone, Wow there is so much going on in this thread so please forgive me if I miss anyone.

Smiley - hope the bleeding stops for you and you get to enjoy you DS birthday. Great news that your mum is coming to visit.

Musebaby and Emma - It must be funny always getting those questions. I have a funny twin story for you - I had twins in my class (I'm a teacher) - a boy and a girl and another staff member asked me if they were identical!!!!!

Emma - Hope you get your car issues sorted out. I don't know if you have seen the Safe n Sound Compaq carseat which is specifically made for multiple births and small cars. I know it won't fix the boot problem, just a thought
BTW -Thanks for adding me to the role call my edd is 25 december and we are having 1 bub!

Positivethinker - Wow I can't believe people are saying that to you, I guess I should look forward to it as our due date is 25 December. We haven't told many people yet,

Zacaudrey - how exciting getting your bugaboo!

Lulu - I might have to try those morning sickness pills as I am really suffering with it at the moment.

Jai - sounds like the renos are going great! Lucky you booking a QLD holiday - sounds wonderful.

Herewego - Is your pergola up already ?- very exciting!

Shy - yes I do get kind of period pains - although they are a bit different and not so intense as what I get with AF. I have been also getting a back ache - I'm not sure if it is preg related though.

Dragongirl - I'm the same - buggered after work. I really want to do exercise but I have no energy after work. I am going to join the pilates classes at the hospital though and I try to take the dogs for a walk when I can (although sometimes it makes me feel sick and I have to cut the walk short). I asked my Ob if it was safe to do pump classes but she said to wait until after 12 weeks. I think I will stick with walking and pilates though - i dont want to jeopordise this bub and I don't think I have the energy to do a pump class:)
As for your pregger lady doing a runner - I can't believe it - actually I cant believe anyone doing a runner!!!

May - I have PCOS but no-one has mentioned having an early blood test yet. WHo is your Ob? (if you don't mind me asking)

Liv - hello and welcome. I am due on 25 Dec.

Peanut - good luck with telling your boss tomorrow!!

Sydneygirls - I haven't had any heart palpitations. Hope the tests clear every thing up for you and it is nothing too serious.

Hello to anyone I missed!!!

AFM - well I have to have my ten week BT tomorrow. I am really struggling with morning sickness and tiredness and have also been getting a few headaches. I feel really bad because I am so exhausted after work and on the weekends that I can't keep up with housework and other stuff that I should be doing. DH is wonderful though and is picking up the slack. I hope it eases in the next couple of weeks.

PositiveThinker
25-05-2010, 19:43
EKMum - I really think everyone is being supportive. But it doesn't help that my Aunt had a baby due 26th Dec and she chose to be induced so that the baby wasn't born on Christmas, now the family think it is the norm. Each to their own I guess.

Just found out I don't qualify for maternity leave and my bosses are not going to be compassionate and give me any :( Guess we will just have to figure it out.

On a plus though ... I just got my bugaboo ... what a completely awesome pram!

Hey girls ,

I am still lurking around.

Just want to say congratulations and welcome :D to EKMum, liv01, plsjustonemore, shy, lulu and musebaby. I hope I have not missed anybody. It's so nice to see so many BFP's.

Jai and Peanut - Port Douglas is just beautiful. It's been a while since I have been up there, but my brother goes up there quite regularly for work, I will ask him if he has any recommendation. Sooo jealous :).

Zac - Woohoo!! You finally got your bugaboo!!

PT - Sorry to hear you don't qualify for maternity leave. I remember you telling me a while back that was your concern starting this new job. I hope you can sort something out. Yay for getting your bugaboo!

EKMum - Goodluck with your BT tomorrow. Give yourself time hun my house went to wrack and ruin because of morning sickness and feeling tired, just catching up with it now, but it's not worth worrying about, nice to hear your DH is picking up some slack though as my DH did not do much extra all, its a been a bit hard for him because he does shift work and he hurt his back before christmas so has not been able to do much. His back is getting better though thank goodness.

Emma - I hope you get the car issues sorted. Goodluck with your scan on Thursday. I hope you get to find out what gender your little twinnies are.

Smiley - Sorry to hear the bleeding has returned. Lovely to have your mum coming though. All the best with E's party on Sunday. Sounds like your resting up well.

Sydney - I get the odd heart palpatation since being pregnant, but it seems to be when I exert myself too much and I get quite dizzy, maybe if it gets worse I should get it checked out also. I wasn't terribley concerned about it just thought it was associated with extra blood flow to the uterus as bub grows.

Dragon - I can't believe that pregnant customer of yours did a runner. Just proves you can't trust anyone

Peanut - Goodluck telling your workplace tomorrow.

May - What fab ideas for kids parties! I will have to remember those, they sound like fun.

musebaby - so glad your scan went well. The scans just get better.

Cazz - I have been having some very uncomfortable hip and lower back pain as well. Today it's been quite bad. I spoke to my ob today and he said it's perfectly normal at this stage and can get quite uncomfortable. I was really hobbling around today because of it. If it gets worse peanut said get it checked out.

I do apolagise if I have missed anyone.

AFM - I had my 19w+3d scan today. Bub was just perfect everything was spot on and no signs of abnormalities including downs. We are having a little GIRL!!! I was so sure we were having a boy so this was a lovley surprise not that I cared either way, I am just so happy she healthy at this stage.

Take care everyone

Hi guys
sorry in advance for no personals but once I read through I seem to forget what everyone had said and being on the iPhone it's hard to post and save. Hope everyone is doing well. I haven't been able to bring myself to buy anything for baby yet but today I got a present from elderly couple who have been regular customers for years and they are moving away. They bought me two baby blankets. Was very emotional receiving the gifts. Well there you go, my first baby things yay! DH started walking down the baby aisle in the supermarket looking to see if they had nappies on sale, though I still can't bring myself to buy anything yet. When did everyone else start buying baby things?

Morning All

I was really sick yesterday and was reading the posts but just couldnt be bother posting

Port Douglas girls i was up there last year i think and before that my friend lived up there so i stayed with her...Its really nice but some tips if i may...its a place for the older people if you know what i mean however i recommend doing tours sounds corny i know but i took DH on some tours i booked hes soo not a tour man but he really liked them i'll post the link to the sites i book through but we did a tour of the rainforest and our tour guide was amazing told us all these little things we wouldnt have known to go or see or what they were with out him and he took us to the daintree ice cream factory ...yummmmyyyy of course we did the barrier reef tour and even though your pregnant you can still get out there and swim ...i have a stack of photos on my FB if you want email me your names and i'll find you so you can have a sticky beak !!! we also did a tour of Kurunda which is the aboringal town near cairns and then caught the old mining train back down ..accom wise we stay in a cheaper place closer to the main road in town so we could walk to dinners and not have to worry about catching a shuttle to and from a resort if we wanted to go to a pub late or something

Hey Girls,

I'm crashing your thread, hope you don't mind :) You are all experts in early pregnancy now so i like to read all the posts but thought i might say hello. There are heaps of familiar faces in here.

We were tthinking about going to PD in late November but we might bring that forward and go for our Babymoon. Only thing is that i would want to do a reef tour and some snorkling so i hope they alow Pregnant woman to do it. Anyway we'll see.

Congrats Tezz on your Pink news :)

Ok lets see if i can remember everything LOL

Smiley - Soooo glad your mum is coming down i'm sure she will be a big help for you and E will love having Nan spoil him i'm sure

May - I have a scan on Thursday ...oh tomorrow!!! Its the morph one ...i'm not going ask or anything about finding out the sex cause everytime i do i get disappointed when they wont tell me

Muse - Oh they get more spinny (not really a word but i'll use it anyway) DH was like OMG they have spines ..i just cracked up last time they were moving so much she could get shots and she was like what have you been drink ..water i said and she said well must be something you ate dont eat that again i felt like telling her where to go

Peanut - Pls said she had the same pram when she had her twins and would recommend it so i'm glad i picked that one

Dragon - Must say though i dont agree with people doing runners i do wonder how desparate people can be and do foolish things ..i think i would much rather know that she feed herself and her baby ..but thats just me ..and someone mentioned a pram thing ..i remember when i was a teenager i must have been 16 my BF just had her first child and we were at the shopping centre paying our bills (we lived together and were struggling to put food on the table) that said he DD got the runs big time and we ran out of nappies so we were really desparate and needed to change her so we open a packet of nappies and wipes in kmart and took a couple and then left to go change her not the smartest or the nicest thing to do but the poor child had Cr4p coming out of everywhere ..anyway we got busted and the police took us back to the station but didnt charge us and said they totally understand why we did it but we learn a lesson never go anywhere unprepared

Sydney - At night i do get hear plaps ..hope everything is ok with you

EKMum - Exactly what we are going to get ..even before we knew we were having twins and i looked at them in the shops and they are really lush and soft but thanks of think of me really appreaicate it

Re Maternity Leave - Poo Bum to the ladies not getting any that sucks ..those near xmas if you can take annual leave up to January and then the new maternity leave laws kick in and then you can get the 19weeks !!!! Just a thought ..my boss even though he is a really arrogant C*unt he did tell me that he was giving me 10 weeks paid leave and i'm taking the year off also dont forgot the new IR laws that came in say that after your year if you want to take an extra year you can now without lossing your job just a thought too

Car sitution - Ok new plan is to get roof racks and one of those luggage pods for put the pram etc in ...i thought i much cheaper plan than a new car we cant afford

Re aches and Pains ..i saw some of you mention being achy

I'm am sooooooooooooooooooo sore everywhere from down low to my back it hurts to get up to walk and even sit ...and we have another 5mths of this but me not complain LOL

Re Excerise - Make sure you go to classes with a trained pregancy instructor ...not to scare you all but i was told exerising esp pilates and yoga in not good while pregnany unless you go through a pregnancy one cause they know what you can and cant stretch ..Just to so you i have a story to back this up but i'm not going to scare the cr4p out of you all just promise you go to a pregnancy one please

Emma- you sure made up for "not posting" yesterday :) thanks for the tip on exercise, it was me who was asking. I'm been told many times not to stretch so abit wary about what I can and can't do. Hope your feeling heaps better today. When's your next scan hopefully you can find out gender. I'm so excited about hearing everyones gender. But I'm wondering if a surprise would be good too :)
lissy- I haven't congratulated you yet! I was reading through a thread and saw you pop up and then I had to go back pages and pages to see what I had missed and saw you got a natural miracle. Sooo happy for you after all the crap you've been through! Huge congrats! Crash anytime!

Emma - thanks for all the tips on port douglas. I love getting info from people that have been to a place before. We will definitely do some tours, and it sounsd like there is heaps to see. I don't think we'll mind if the place is full of oldie seeing as we won't be partying or drinking, as long as there is some good restaurants that will keep DH and I happy.

I'm going to start preganancy yoga when I get back and the class is taken by a trained pregnancy instructor - or so the website says.

Lissy - congratulations on a natural bfp.

Dragon - that is so nice of your customers to do that. I made my first baby purchase last week, target was having a sale so i just picked up a couple of babygrows and bibs - felt so weird, like I was an imposter.

Tezzy - congrats on having a girl. that is fantastic news.

EKMum - hope the m/s and tiredness settles down soon. glad to hear DH is picking up the slack.

PT - bummer about not qualifying for maternity leave. did you change jobs quite recently?

AFM - had dinner with some gf's last night and I told them I am utd. they were very happy for me, it was so exciting. One of them had tears in her eyes - very sweet. DH told a couple of his friends on Monday and he said he got really emotional telling them as it was the first time he had told anyone - so sweet.

Hi ladies! Just wanted to say thanks to all of those who have helped relieve my stress! I feel much better. Luckily Monday was the worst day and they haven't been so bad since, touch wood! I haven't had much queasiness the last few days but I believe that can come and go. Have another scan tomorrow, cant wait! Only 26 hours to go!

Emma, All the best for your scan tomorrow! not long to go now!

Liv, :yelclap: glad to see you in here, even though I'm not due in Oct/nov/Dec these ladies are lovely and very informative! not long now til you're 12 weeks!

PS - Emma thanks for the tips on exercise, I have just been researching pregnancy exercise here in Adelaide. I was doing pilates as I have a terrible back, but last week suddenly got really nervous, as the exercises were starting to feel different. So I have stopped and now looking for somewhere to go who knows what they're talking about when it comes to pregnancy!

Emma-GL tomoz im hoping they give you the sexes..... how excitting.

Dragon-Im too in two minds of whether to find out the sex or leave it a surprise but i think id rather find out.Im like emma too organised.

Shy1-yahh a scan tomoz....cant wait to hear the results... wish mine would hurry up im nervous as all...

I contacted my trainer at my Aqua Aerobics class yesterday cause i havent been since i left for EPU & i was going twice or 3 times a week, she recommended i wait till 12 weeks to go back only because the neural development stages & she doesnt want me to risk it.Plus she suggested i stay out of the heated pools till after that stage too cause your excercising which raises temp plus your own body temp is higher now were pregnant so it could result in overheating at the crucial times. She said im best to go for a half to 1 hr walk instead at my own comfortable pace till after 12 weeks then she said shed be happy to have me back in class but with no core tighening excercises, thats what you have to avoid.I also found a pregnancy yoga class & it suggests the same.. starting after 12 weeks & no core training.I like that cause you can continue classes after birth with bub, they have mum n bub classes.Hope that helps some ladies q's. Looks like im a blimp till 12 weeks ... only 7 more weeks away:laughing:

Sorry ladies for crashing... it seems us newbies are gonna be dropping by reguarly asking q's !!!Its just we know most of you & you guys are that much further on ,we can all get support from you as well as ourselves LOL

I reckon the Jan/Feb/Mar thread will keep growing as more and more find out they are UTD, can you imagine a 6month due in thread! I can hardly keep up with everyone as it is!!!

I agree regarding the merging, cos most of us cycled together it's only fair we chat on the same pregnancy thread. I've been stalking most of the new year ivfers anyway hoping they can join us, it would be good if everyone could very soon.

Dragon - we almost need a Preggo chat thread just for anyone to chat about their pregnancy at any stage. I'm just going to crash all threads anyway :) Its funny because not so long ago i very rarely came into this sub forum because it made me too depressed. I can't believe i am actually here finally YPPEEE!!!

Happy Wednesday everyone:sunshine::sunshine::sunshine:

Sydney - good to have the heart palps checked out but am sure it won't be anything too serious!

Smiley - thanks so much for your labour experience, it's so good to hear that sort of thing. For some reason some Mums just love frighten the c^&p out of you! I am doing acupuncture but hadn't really thought about that helping so that's great to know too.

EK - the first 12 weeks are tough and you just have to drop your expectations on house etc and take care of yourself - it will pass and then you can take on more but for now, take it easy and don't feel bad about it.

PT - sux about no mat leave but glad you are loving the bug!

Tezzy - that's awesome that the scan went well, and that it's a girly bub:smiliedance:

Dragon - oh that's so sweet with the baby gift from your customers.

Emma - thanks so much for the Port Douglas info. I will check out those links. I've been there once before and thought it had a mix of age groups but prob lacks schoolies etc (yay). I wasn't thinking about tours but you've reminded me that DH hasn't been so I should be thinking of him instead of myself!

Lissy - OMG:yelclap:, I am so happy to hear your news. I remember you from the Nov thread and you were taking a break due to health problems. That is just fabulous.

Jai - there are plenty of great places to eat in Port Douglas so no probs there - esp if you like seafood!

AFM - told my boss this morning and she was really happy for me and made me tell the whole team at our meeting. It feels liberating to be 'out'.

As for the exercise issue - yoga is really good during pregnancy but as Emma said it must be be a special pre-natal class because there are some things that are dangerous. Stretching is great but inversions and some twists are not. Yoga actually has a series of poses especially for pregnancy that are fabulous and have been used for a looooong time. But I'd be wary of gym based yoga even if they say they are qualified in pre-natal. And, I would never do pilates even if they say it's okay. I did classical pilates for years and they absolutely forbid anyone who even 'might' be pregnant to participate because the core work is dangerous to the baby. Later on all the work on your back is not good either. A lot of the pilates offered at gyms is not really classical and some of those instructors might say it's okay but i wouldn't go near it. My two-cents for the day for what it's worth.

Lissy Loo
26-05-2010, 15:03
Peanut - Thanks so much!! Just want to mention something about Pilates. As far as i was aware it is actually quite beneficial to do during pregnancy and it helps with your pelvic floor etc. I do a weekly class at an Osteopath clinic and there is one pregnant lady (now 2 including me :)) and the instructor just tells her to change certain moves. It is run by Osteopaths so i trust they know what they are doing. I will be having a chat to them before i go to my class on Thursday because now i am a little nervous about it.

peanut22
26-05-2010, 15:34
Lissy - I'm sure that would be okay if it's run by oestopaths and I imagine it's quite different to classical pilates which is pretty full on. I would definitely be cautious of anything where you turn on your core muscles too much though (pelvic floor is good tho!).

Hi Ladies,

Lissy - congrats, when are you due?

Em - Yes, I have booked in for classes at RPA, apparently they fill up quick. They dont start till August though

AFM - heard back from my doc today with bt results. heart palps are not due to thyroid or anemia.. so still have to go to cardiologist on friday... oh well, best to have it checked out i suppose.

Hi everyone,
Just a quick one for me.

Firstly - CONGRATULATIONS Lissy!!!!

Thanks for all your positive words regarding housework etc - Im glad its not just me!!!

Regarding Exercise - for those looking to do prenatal pilates/yoga maybe check the hospitals. The hospital I am going to has prenatal pilates and hydrotherapy classes, which I am going to try out.

AFM - I forgot to go have my BT today!!! It was funny I was reading the posts on here and someone mentioned my BT and I was thinking I didn't have a BT then realised that I was supposed to!!!! I'm blaming baby brain!! Will go tomorrow instead.

Congratulations on having a girls Tezzy!!

Emma- I booked my birthing classes at 12 weeks and the hospital said it would be tricky to get me in at the time they like ( I think they want you to start at 27 weeks?) Aparently they book out quickly. Mine are 6 classes 6.30-9 on Fri night starting at 29 weeks. Cost me $230.00

Hi Lissy, congratulations!!

Dragon- Sorry to hear about the runners, unbelievable. I seriously dont know what they were thinking? Who does that?

AFM- I think I felt those flutters that everyone talks about today. I think anyway! How is everyone else going with that?

Hi to everyone, there are so many people here now I cant keep up!! Must be a good year for IVF babies! x

Emma, thanks for updating honor roll. I'm due dec 26 so will need to work out how to change that.

I saw my ob yesterday for a 9 week scan. He has taken me off the pessaries. Thank god! I hate those things. Today was a much more pleasant day not having to deal with the aftermath of last night's pess.
I'm hoping my bloated stomach might go down a bit but maybe it just won't get too much bigger for a while. Seems huge and clients are noticing. A couple of people have commented that I've put on a bit of weight!

My ob says I have to stay on daily clexane injections to 35 weeks. Is anyone else on clexane? The bigger my stomach gets the harder to get the needle in and the more bruises I'm getting.

dragongal77
26-05-2010, 21:25
Lissy- a general pregnacy thread would be excellent, having all the new year ivfers under one roof again would be great. It's just when you cycle you get to know a group of people so well it's just natural to share the pregnancy with them as well. And of course when you're still trying you do t want to venture to pregnancy threads it's makes you feel depressed. Don't get me wrong, any successful ivf is great news and you are truly happy for them but while you're cycling you can't help but feel why not me? That's why the mods did that poll and moved the pregnancy threads to a sub-forum.
Peanut- yep the present was sweet and I opened it and felt the material, it made me feel all mushy inside it was as soft as a baby :)
EKMum- we have an excuse now just blame everything on the pregnancy brain :)
zac- yeah i couldn't believe it either. How are you going? How far along are you? I think I feel flutters too but I'm probably just imagining it.
Pls- I think will find out the gender too. I'm too impatient, doing ivf has tested my patience to the max already :) did you get my reply regarding symptoms? How are you feeling has it sunk in yet? Can't wait to hear how your scan goes, oh and BTW this thread has a twin vibe to it :)
hello to everyone else hope everyone is doing well.

Hi Girls,

Just wondering if any of you have bought a Bump Band to put under your pants over your bump? I am thinking about getting one already as my tummy is bloated and popping out a little bit. I'm only just over 5 weeks and obviously don't want to buy any Maternity clothes just yet

peanut22
27-05-2010, 15:05
Lissy - do you mean the belly bands that you put over the top of your pants when you can't fasten the buttons? I know lots of ladies use them but I haven't. I'm 15 weeks today and still in my pants and think I'll just move straight to maternity gear very shortly. It's more tops that I'm struggling with cos I don't want to wear anything fitted - which almost all of my clothes are. I just look like I've got a massive muffin top so I'm only wearing shirts and loose tops. Can't wait till it's a proper baby bump and then I can stop feeling so frumpy and trying to hide it.

Emma - good luck today - thinking of you!

AFM - four weeks till we find out 'who's there' at the 19 week scan....

Afternoon Lovelies :flowerz:

Em - That's wonderful news!! Did you cry when they told you? Was DH there? So happy for you! I haven't booked for classes yet, but sounds like I should get onto it soon! Might phone up tomorrow.

Sydney - GL at the cardiologist tomorrow. Hopefully he gives you the A-Ok & tells you there's nothing to worry about!

EK - How did your BT go today? Did you remember to go?!

Zac - I felt kind of a scratching feeling quite early on but I haven't felt anything for weeks now. Can't wait for the scan on Monday. When is yours?

Lulu - :smiliedance: Yay for being off pessaries! I never had to use them but I heard how yuck they were.

Dragon - It's funny how we just assume that 'mothers' are good people. I can't imagine doing a runner at a restaurant! That's crazy. Imagine if you saw them in the street tomorrow!

Lissy - OMG!! A natural BFP!! Congratulations!! Incredible isn't it, that you went through so much with IVF for it to happen naturally. What date are you due?? You need a ticker, I'm surprised Em hasn't told you already ;)

AFM - I didn't work today, I went to a 'Biggest Morning Tea' at a girlfriends house with all the girls and their bubs. It was lovely. Out of the 9 or so of us there, 3 of us were pregnant/had bubs through IVF. How funny! We all agreed it was the new black :p I got a lift home with a friend & her hubby. As I went to get in the back she said "No sit in the front, DH always sits in the back with bub". It was hilarious to see this huge burly bloke sitting in the back so he could see his little girl, sooo cute!!

Great news Emma - 2 beautiful girls! Glad everything went well. How is DH with that news....wasn't he hoping for boys?

Sydney - good luck with your cardiologist appointment - hope it is nothing to worry about!

AFM - 20 weeks today! Had my first glucose test this morning....so much fun...not! It was fine - just boring sitting for 2 hours! Also I have a chest infection, so doc has put me on antibiotics.....feel a bit bad taking them, but they have assured me they are safe for bub. I feeling pretty crappy, so have given in and taken them.

Hello to everyone else!

herewego
27-05-2010, 18:49
Lissy - my pants are starting to get a bit tight so I've started doing what Emma suggested a while ago and that is I put a rubber band around the button, through the button hole, and then back over the button. It's working great so far! I bought one of those belly bands, but it's a bit big still - it forces my pants too far open.

Emma - yay for girls!! So it's not one of each then? ;) (don't worry - I know it couldn't possibly be one of each)

Cazzstar - that sounds like a nice way to spend the day.

A few of you have mentioned birthing classes. My hospital forms said to ring and book at around 20 weeks, but maybe I should ring and check soon. I might also check if they run prenatal yoga - I think I remember someone else from Perth saying their hospital does that.

Peanut - I'm having the opposite problem to you. My tops are all fine but my pants are getting tight. I just bought some leggings from Sussan and they have lots of loose flowy tops there, so maybe something like that is what you need.

Sydney - I hope your cardiologist appointment goes well.

Lulu - I was so happy that I got to stop pessaries after 8 weeks. They are such yucky inventions. What are the clexane injections for?

Zacaudrey - I haven't felt any flutters yet, but my ob said I probably won't feel anything until around 22 weeks because my placenta is at the front of my uterus. Maybe that is some early movement you're feeling.

AFM - I have been so tired these past couple of days  I had to make myself a coffee when I got up this morning and I got a phone call from DH later in the morning telling me how naughty I was for having coffee :shame: He says my baby will have to go through coffee withdrawal when it's born  I hardly ever drink it - maybe once a week or once a fortnight (except I also had one 2 days ago, but he doesn't know about that one.....)

We went to the in-laws for dinner on Monday night. My MIL had just been to Melbourne and she bought me a gorgeous little wooden mobile to hang above the cot. She's a HUGE Christmas fan, and makes up a stocking for all of us each year, but she announced that this year since there will be a grandbaby there'll be no more stockings for anyone except the baby  DH did mention that it will only be a month old so it won't even know what a stocking is. I don't think she's concerned about that though.

To all you bugaboo owners out there - I am constant pram watch at the shops, hoping to see the pram I've ordered. I keep seeing the same pram and thinking 'ooh that's nice, I wonder if it's mine' and every time it's turned out to be the bugaboo. Seriously, I saw about 4 of them in the space of an hour at the shopping centre this afternoon.

lulu2010
27-05-2010, 19:47
Cazzstar: thanks. They were yuck but all worth it. Not missing that evening task at all.

Herewego: after 5 transfers I had two really early pregnancies which stopped quicker than they got started. I also had 2 chemical pregnancies. They decided I had a blood clotting issue and tried me for one cycle on cartier which didn't help. Then the clinic said if they put me on daily clexane injections (blood thinners) then I would have a 75% chance of having a baby. It worked the first time! And now the ob says daily until 35 weeks. I heard that some women go straight into labor when they come off it.
My DP gives the needle to me each day. I can't do it and the bigger and more stretched my stomach is the harder it is to get in. Pretty bruised now but absolutely worth it of course.

Emma:congratulations! That's wonderful news.
Have you thought about names? Very exciting!

Hi everyone, I don’t have time to post very often but find some of the chat here very helpful.

Hello Liv01 - I’m due on a week after you (21st Dec).

Peanut – I am also getting hit with the bad labour stories, but my mum is always good to talk to - she says it wasn’t that bad and she had no pain relief etc.
Everyone with good labour stories like smileygirl, keep them coming!
EKMum I am also struggling with morning sickness and tiredness. I’ve given up on exercise for now and hoping I will feel better when I hit 12 weeks. I was hoping to do something like body balance classes, but am now a little scared of stretching.
Dragongirl – the runner story blew me away, but I guess there are those sort of people out there and becoming pregnant doesn’t change who you are!
Positive thinker- that really sucks about the maternity leave.
Tezzybob-congrats on the great scan result.

AFM, hopefully buying a new car tomorrow. Ours is just getting too old and not that safe. Am starting to stress a bit about spending the money but we really need to upgrade badly. By the way, is anyone else getting really dehydrated? I am often really thirsty and regularly wake up at night needing a drink. I try to drink regularly during the day, but still get thirsty at night. Have started looking for secondhand baby gear, like prams etc and would love any advice on what brands models I should look for.

Me too i keep a water bottle under my pillow so in the middle of the night it there ..if you do this make sure you use a pump bottle nothing worse than trying to unscrew a bottle lid

I saw those bugaboo prams for $700 in the shops the other day ..red & black they were

AFM - The scan went well but went for 2hrs ...i am bruised cause they are so active it was hard to get good shots of everything they needed the little one is still 2 weeks behind my due date and the other one is 2 week ..but with twins thats normal and at least they both grew two weeks since the last scan two weeks ago ..so really pleased with that

doughnut and cazz - what sort of car are you going to get? I am going to get a new car too as there is no way we can fit the dog and bubs and all our stuff in my corolla when we go to my parents beach house. Not sure how ambitious we are being, but are planning on going down after Christmas for 5 days and bubs will only be about 3 weeks old.

herewego - my sis had a coffee everyday during both her pregnancies and both her kids are fine and were really good sleepers right from the start. I don't think one every now and then will do any harm.

cazz - the morning tea sounds way better than work. I also have 3 gf's in my group of friends having or had ivf.

sydney - good luck with cardiologist appointment.

Ha ha. Thanks Em. Sorry the link didn't work. I won a new model dark grey Bugaboo with red & sand canvas toppings with lots of extra hoods etc AND a wheeled travel bag for $1077 the end price was. Pretty happy since buying it all new would have cost around $2500!

Jai - I was actually thinking about getting a newer model Corolla! We have one now but it's a 98 model. If it's too small for prams etc we might get a camry. I tend to like Toyota coz they are pretty reliable & cheap to repair etc. We'll def be getting a 2nd hand though. Would love a new one but just can't justify it!! What are you thinking?? I'd love an Suberu Outback, but they are pretty exy to run.

hi gang!!

Cazz - whoo hoo on the pram! I love ebay bargains :-)

Emm - whoo hoo, i told you the other week i always thought of them as girls lol Congrat's hun!

herewego - a coffee everynow and then is not harmful. It's just "over consumption" that is an issue. I have not had coffee since starting IVF other then decaf....it would prob give me the jitters lol

Donught - i am always thirsty at night...and during the day...i always have my drink bottle with me.

Lissy - omg congratulations!!! I am so happy for you hun, hope you stay and hang out with us :yelclap:

Sydney - i hope the cardiologists went ok today...stay in touch hun:hugs:

EK - lol on baby brain...it's going to be with you for a long time!

Zac - yippee for flutters!! Kicks are not far away now lol

Lulu - i was on Herparin, 2 injections a day, I was going to be on longer but i started bleeding at 18 weeks and they got me off it really quickly so try and control that. I found the bruising hard (although i had devel a nice lil fat roll over the IVF months lol). The bruises took about 4 weeks to go away! It's a bit diff to clexane but similar purpose. I have heard of lots of success with it and think i would not have got preggy without it.

Dragon - how long till your morph scan?

Peanut - whoo hoo to count down to the morph scan!!

Birthing classes - I am all booked in for July 10, a full day class on a Saturday. We can't do nights and its easier for a full day of child minding! We are public and it cost us $85.

AFM - well, I am hanging in at home, just. I started spotting again last night and have been terrified ever since!

It's my gorgeous big boy's birthday today and he got a bit spoilt lol I always start shopping early and got some bargains and he ended up getting everything he wanted lol However, his pride and joy is a $25 box of star wars lego...he is a boy of simple pleasures!

DH had today off so has gone to collect him from school and take him to the DVD store to pick a movie and then we are having a pizza and movie night :-)

I have to hang in here at home for another 2 days so i can make sure E's party is great and its also DH's birthday on Sunday!! However, am taking no risks and if the bleeding kicks in, then i'll be off :crying:

Glad to hear everyone is doing well, i love how busy it is in here atm....sorry if i missed anyone on personals!

Dragon - I'm so impatient too, it's killing me to even wait for the 19 week scan to find out the sex...if I had to wait till birth, argh. I want to get organised and start chatting to him/her by name too.

Cazz - yay for the boo! Your scan is sooo close now, sooo exciting.

May - ugh the glucose test sounds awful from what I've heard. Does everyone have to do it?

Herewego - I def need flowy tops, will check it out thanks. Am loving the leggings too. I am a pram stalker too, I think I'm frightening the Mums!

Doughnut - love the good labour stories!

Emma - that's really great news that both bubs have grown nicely since the last scan.

Jai - have totally had the non-pregnant feeling, still have it really even tho my belly is starting to suggest otherwise. I psych myself out before every scan, get convinced that there's nothing going on.

Smiley - I'm doing the one day class too, prefer to knock it over rather than have to drive in after work for three weeks. Sounds like E is having a great birthday and I am so hoping that you get through the party (and longer) for him:goodvibes:

AFM - I'm bored with this stage! Hurry up 19 weeks. As for the new car talk - I ordered one before Christmas and still don't have it, grrr.
Have a great weekend everyone...:sunshine:

Cazzstar - congratulations on the bugaboo!! How exciting. Do you have to pick it up? I think my car is going to be fine with 1 child, but if we want to go anywhere with the dogs we're going to have to take DH's Pajero. I can really see why mum's favour stationwagons and small 4WD's. The Subaru Forrester is the quintessential 'Mummy's car' and I can see why. If you're after a toyota, my sister bought a Rav4 about a year ago and that's a really good size - not too big and bulky, but big enough for 2 kids and the pram.

Smileygirl - I hope DS is having a great birthday, and enjoys his movie night tonight. I hope all goes well for the party.

Jai - I've hardly felt pregnant EVER, so don't worry about lack of symptoms. It will put your mind at ease once you have your scan on Monday though. I say you should hold a glass of wine, wave your hand around a lot, and no one will know. Or, you could dilute it (or beer) with lemonade and have a few sips over the evening.

LissyLoo - it may not be a fashion statement, but the rubber band does the trick doesn't it?

Peanut - before Christmas!! It must be a special car!

AFM - I've just been sitting under our new pergola enjoying the beautiful weather :p I was doing some reports but my laptop got a bit warm in the sunshine so I put it away and got my Marie Claire out instead

I hope everyone's having a good Friday :flowerz:

Smileygirl: I agree, I wouldn't have got preg without the clexane.
I'm pretty bruised right now. Might end up putting them in my bum if my stomach gets too tight.

Emma: they are really cute names. I'm totally stumped on a girl's name.

Cazzstar: well done on the ebay purchase. What a bargain!

Is anyone having their baby(s) at rpa?

Hello everyone, yipee for the weekend!:smiliedance:

Emma- Congratulations on your news! Girls, how lovely. Glad to hear that they are going well and you have put on some weight! Yeah we are going private so I suppose that is why the classes cost so much.

Cazz- Nice one on the bugaboo! I couldnt open the link either. DH and I put ours together on Sun and then took pics of ourselves with it! It was hilarious. It is such a great pram tho and the swivel wheels at the front make it really easy to steer. Got my 19 week scan on Wed.

Herewego- Pergola in the sun with marie clare sounds lovely. I have the crappy job of proof reading everyones reports. its a bit of a bore!

Peanut- what car did you order?

Smiley- Enjoy your weekend, I am sure it will be a huge success. The kids at school love star wars lego too.

As for the car talk... We bought a subaru forester last sep. We totally love it esp the leather seats. its not too big or small but feels really safe too. Ours took about 3 months to arrive.

Feeling lots more of the fluttery feeling. It lasts up to 3 sec and is a really different feeling. Everyone says you will know if when it comes and that is so true. I just knew it was that!

Cant remember if I told you all but DH broke his right hand 2 weeks ago and cant do anything! It is plastered from fingertips to nearly elbow. He is having surgery to it on wed so will miss the 19 week scan. Mum is coming down from noosa to come with me. I will get a dvd but feel bad for him. He has come to every appointment so far :( We just need his hand fixed!!

Hi Guys!
Weekend again!
Emma- Congrats on girls! :yelclap: I'm secretly hoping I'm having a girl too but now that I've said that I'm probably having a boy  (DH wants a boy)
Smiley- I hope the spotting eases soon. Gosh you've had a crap time with it. happy Birthday to Elliot! and DH of course. I won't know when my next scan is till I see the doc next week. On this subject there seems to be so much going on with everyone and I'm only seeing my doctor every 4 weeks and that's it! Is this normal? I'm going public though that's probably why :(
Peanut- I'm the same, I'm gonna find out the sex ASAP so I can start talking to bubs by name. My bubs will have two names though an Aussie one and a Vietnamese one :)
BTW I was talking to bubs today and this thought entered my mind..... I can't imagine myself as a MUM :( I've always been just an auntie for so long......
Hope everyone is well and enjoying their weekend.

Smiley - Thanks :) Your a melb girls aren't you? Where are having bubs? Sorry about the spotting

Jai 9 - We got a Nissan dualis (http://www.nissan.com.au/webpages/models/DUALIS_model.html#/special-offers) – Nissan have a special on it at the moment. DH likes it because you are sitting up high like a 4wd (but we got 2wd model) so get good forwards vision. I like it because its got the highest safety rating you can get and I think it will be easier getting things (and babies) in and out as you don’t have to bend over so much. It was also cheapest of all the comparable vehicles (eg Honda CRV, Subaru Forester, Suzuki Grand Vitalis, Toyota Rav4). I was initially looking for a near new car or demonstrator, but ended up getting a new one as only the 2010 model has the full 5 star safety rating (last year’s model only has 4 stars like most other small vehicles) and there are not many 2nd hand ones around (car hasn’t been around long). Word of advice to everyone buying cars – if you are buying new, don’t let them pressure you into the after sales package (rustproofing, paint protection etc), I read some stuff on buying cars before going to the dealer which gave advice on negotiating price etc and these all strongly advised against these add-on items because they are unnecessary (eg Nissan website says their vehicles already have special scratch proof ‘self-healing’ paint) and can sometimes interfere with the manufacturer’s own finishes. After I signed the contract with the salesman, these 2 ladies from ‘after sales’ gave me the real hard sell on buying this stuff, I kept saying ‘no thanks’ but OMG  they just kept going and going!!!!

On drinks I recommend soda and lime – its good if you have m/s and some people will just assume you are drinking vodka.;)

Peanut – can’t believe you still don’t have your car so long after ordering ! Did you order a special colour or something? I picked one they had in stock so should get the car on Monday! Woohoo!

Cazz – congrats on the bugaboo win! I’m now spending time everyday on ebay looking for prams etc.:smiliedance:

Zac – wow flutters! DH asked me yesterday if I’m feeling any flutters yet, sadly no for me.

Dragongal – I am also finding it difficult to picture myself as a mum, particularly the idea of being ‘someone’s mother’ seems so weird! I think I will feel different once I can hold my baby.

AFM, now we have to build a carport to house the new car! When are all these big expenses going to end???!:(

morning all :-)

dragon and doughnut - it is hard to imagine those moments before it happens....but once you hold the bub, thats it...and you can't imagine it being any other way! If it makes you feel better I can't imagine having a girl lol...i always pictured myself with 2 boys and as yet i can not get this lil girl into my "future"...i have been having full on crazy dreams and i still have 2 boys...i wonder if the ultrasound was wrong lol

Lissy - yep, I'm a melbourne girl. Having bubby at Monash as they are the best for high risk around here. They have been taking very good care of me :-) Where are you having bubs?

Zac - your poor DH! I hope the surgery goes really well....will they not let you move your scan to the day before so he can come too?

Lulu - where is the RPA?

herewego - new pergola with a magazine sounds lovely....just imagine those days over summer when you and bubs can sit out there together:cloud9:

Peanut - omg, what car did you order that takes that long? We are umming and ahhing about a new car but might wait a year as our bank balance is still in the negative after the IVF!

AFM - Elliott's birthday was a huge success. His bio dad is gracing us with his presence today...for the first time since March! E not overly excited but i know he'll have fun once there and its only for the day and not overnight.

DH and I will be sorting out the final stuff for the party tomorrow and cleaning the house....well, i'll be folding laundry on the lounge and DH will be doing the rest lol

Looking forward to mum getting here on Monday.....

Lissy- tell me about it. My niece is 18 ( my sister is only 2 years older than me) and last year she was having a rough time and left home and there was a rumour that she was pregnant :( geez did that depress me that my baby niece whom I had a big part in raising was going to be a mum before me. Glad it didn't happen though phew!
Doughnut- becoming a mum has eluded me for so long ( been married 11 years, together longer) it's gonna take a while to get be able to picture it, mind you I've been ready to become a mum since forever :)
smiley- ummmm.... Sometimes they can be wrong you know. This lady was telling me a story about when she was having a baby and there were 3 other ladies having babies the same day. Well they all turned out the opposite sex to what they were told. Not that they weren't happy but quite annoyed that they now had to dress their son in pink or had blue for their girl which isn't too bad :) regarding dreams, I did have one dream with my baby (girl) in it and I left her out at sea :( had to swim out to get her and I don't know how to swim :(
peanut- my due date buddy- how are you going?
happy weekend to everyone else

Hi Everyone
Wow so much has happened I havent been posting for a while so have just spent a while catching up. So much happening!

Looks like I am finally starting to get over the m/s, just vomiting in the mornings now.

We have our 16 weeks scan on Monday and I really want to find out the sex, but its just at the docs and his scanner thing isnt as good as the specialist places like SKG etc so am keeping fingers crossed.
Has anyone else found out at 16 weeks? my placenta is laying across the front so will that effect the view?

I hope everyone is doing well and bubs are happy:yes:

Sydney - ohh bugger...i hate it when that happens! Glad to hear that you got good news from your cariologist visit though!!

EKmum - Happy birthday to you! Hope you have a great day....this time next year you will be getting 'mummy' presents!

Smiley - hows the washing going....just saw your FB post! Glad E had a lovely b'day and is looking forward to his party! I hope the visit with his bio dad goes okay for E. It must be hard for E (and you and your DH). 2 sleeps until your mum gets here...woo hoo! You hear alot of stories about the sex revealed at the scan being wrong....I would get them to double check too!!!

Mrs Day - hellooooo, lovely to hear from you, but sorry you are still puking! Hopefully that goes soon. You are in Perth right? What hospital are you going to?

Dragon and Dougnut - I agree with smiley....once they put that bub in your arms you can't remember what life was before that moment. It is all a bit scarey and daunting thinking ahead, but you were born to do this and look at what you have gone through to be a mum. I remember a moment the day our DD was born when DH and I were staring at her and my DH said that he "felt like he would jump in front of a bus for her and I don't even know her yet!!" It was funny but very cute and very true!

Cazz - well done with the boo purchase! What a bargain. With teh money you saved there you can buy all the other stuff you want!!

Herewego - I bet you are making the most of your new pergola this weekend....lovely weather for it! So when does operation sleep out/study start?

Zac - yay for the flutters....amazing isn't it! It is hard to comprehend that there is a little life inside you moving around!!! Poor DH - hope his op goes okay and he is on the mend soon!

Jai - how are you going lovie? Did you manage to fool everyone with your drink last night?

Peanut - wow...that is a long wait for a car! I am not sure if everyone does the glucose test...I know I didnt last time! I think most doctors screen you for it - so you just do the one hour test (blood, drink, wait an hour, more blood) and then do the 2 hour test if that one shows anything 'suspect'. Apparently the two hour test actually gives a better reading......mind you this is what I have heard form friends....so not mediacally based info - lol! I just went and had it done - I guess we get so used to bloods with the IVF that 'whats another one' hey!

Hello to everyone else!

AFM - having a quite weekend to get over this bl#*dy chest infection! Sort of feeling better. I have my mum back in hospital - but I can't go and see her as she is in the respiratory ward and I don't want to give my cold to her or any of the other patients. So made a pot of pumpkin soup this morning and sent DH, DD and thermos full of soup off to the hospital to see mum and feed her - lol! Apparently the food at Royal Perth Hospital resembles cardboard!

May - Yes im in Perth, we are going to Galliers (private part of Armadale) and seeing Dr White. They are both about 5 minutes from us so works out really well. Had hospital tour last week and was sooooo happy!
Were are you going? and who are you seeing?

Hope you get over the infection soon, its awful feeling sick during this time, be so much nicer to be shopping :D

Evening Lovelies :flowerz:

It's a lonely old weekend for me since DP is working the entire time. He's only been home to sleep

Mrs Day - Great to hear from you!! Sorry you have been so sick still but hopefully it's clearing up soon! I stopped being sick for a little while but it still creeps up on me some mornings (or nights). I went to my 16 week scan at my obs & she didn't have a good enough machine to see bub really well. I'm not sure if they will be able to tell you the sex. Hope so though! We find out on Monday!!!!

May - Hope you get rid of that chest infection soon! It's so hard to shake illness when you are preggers hey? I got sick when I was just pregnant & it took twice as long to recover. Hope your mum is ok. You are doing well making soup while you are sick!!

Sydney - Bash that computer :geek: I hate it when that happens. Glad to hear that your cardiologist appointment was ok!!

Smiley - How frustrating would it be to be stuck in hospital with a whole bunch of pink for a little boy! I'd get them to double check too!! And maybe take in a couple of white suits just in case! ;-)

PJ1M - I didn't know you had twins! How old are they? I can't believe they got the sex wrong!! You went allll that time thinking they were boys!

Dragon - I think it's pretty normal to have wacky dreams when we are pregnant. I've had a few nasty ones too. It's probably got to do with anxiety about the future? I went through the 'OMG Can I really be a mum' thing last week too. It's normal to be scared! I think we'll be fabulous mums :hugs:

Smiley - Sooo glad E's birthday went well! Is his party on Sunday? Make sure you take it really easy & don't put too much pressure on yourself, he'll have lots more birthdays that you can run around for ;-) Only 2 more days until your mum arrives!! Yay!!

Doughnut - I was spending hours & hours on the internet looking at prams. It was driving me nuts! Now I'm not allowed to look in case I find anything better than the one that I won! The Dualis looks fantastic!! What colour did you get? I'd love one but we just can't afford to buy new. DP isn't a permanent Aussie resident yet which means we can't get a loan so will have to pay cash up front. Eeeeek!

Lissy - I know I said it before, but I'm still blown away by your natural miracle!! Soooo happy for you!

Zac - Yay!! Your scan is Wed! But you want a surprise don't you? I love love love the Foresters, but as I said to Doughnut, we'll be buying outright so can't afford a newbie. DP is English & we are waiting for his permanent residency so unfortunately can't do loans :( That sucks that DH won't be there for the scan. Poor thing, how did he break his hand?

Herewego - We are going to pick up pram in Sydney tomorrow morning! Can't wait! You have the Corolla don't you? I saw a really cute one on carsales.com, I'll FB it to you. Do you think it's big enough to fit the pram in? Our furbaby is pretty small, she usually just sits on my lap when we go anywhere. I really like the Rav4's too but am trying not to get 4WD because they aren't as fuel efficient etc. I live in the sticks so do a lot of miles...

Peanut - What kind of car did you order before Xmas?? That's such a long time!! I know how you feel, I'm getting bored being pregnant & not really being able to feel anything. Can't wait for Monday!!

AFM - Going to pick up our pram tomorrow so pretty excited! Absolutely can't wait for the scan on Monday. Can anyone else not really feel bub moving yet? I'm 19 weeks on Monday & still can't feel much but I guess the scan will put my mind at ease!

herewego
29-05-2010, 20:33
Hey there girls

Cazz - I messaged you back about the Corolla. I think it's Jai who has one.

Doughnut - I think the Dualis has been advertised on TV recently. Is it a hatchback? I remember seeing it and saying 'ooh that looks good' (and it's very well priced) and DH said 'what are you talking about? You don't need a new car?' I can always find an excuse.... It looks a similar size to my Mazda 3 so there's probably not much point in swapping.

Sorry girls - I've read through all the posts and now can't remember what everyone said. I had a late night last night and now I'm a bit brain dead :dizzy: I don't know how it's possible to wake up feeling hungover without drinking a thing! Ooh, that reminds me, whoever mentioned lime and soda - my friend put me onto them a while ago and they are soooo good. Not too sweet either.

We've had a friend stay for the weekend so DH had a boys night in the shed last night and then today him and the house guest built a dog kennel. They love doing blokey things together  They've got a little bromance going on :p Anyway, they've gone off prawning now so this is the first chance I've had to sit down at the computer. My dad called round this afternoon and asked how long until my next scan. He was telling me that they schedule it so that there's a bit of time before the 20 week mark which is the cut off time for a termination! He was telling me about the things they could find and I was like 'yeah I'm trying not to focus on that...' and he said 'it's good to be prepared' and I was like 'um, no, I don't think I could prepare myself so I'd rather not worry about it.' Talk about optimistic thinking!! Just what I wanted to hear!

Dragongal – That could be why I also sometimes can’t get my head around it fully, DH and I are celebrating our 11th Anniversary soon, so more than a decade of just the two of us.

Smiley – they do get the scans wrong sometimes –I’m going to try to buy ‘gender neutral’ gear b4 the birth just in case. But I assume most shops will let you exchange gear for a different colour if your little girl turns out to be a boy.

May11 – so sorry to hear your mum is in hospital and you can’t visit.

Cazzstar – I picked white as I thought that the most practical (cooler in sun and easier to ‘touch up’ little scratches) :sunshine:. Buying a car is definitely an unwanted extra expense after IVF. We probably went a bit overboard getting a new car (which wasn’t the original plan), we used ‘extra’ money from our home loan for it, so our house will take a little longer to pay off.

Herewego – yes its a hatchback, and would be similar to a mazda 3 in size. I like small cars, so much easier to park. And it has the same fuel efficiency as other small cars like the mazda 3 – which was another selling point for us.

I also can’t bear thinking of anything being seriously wrong with bub. The thought of starting again is gut wrenching and I’d rather stay positive and just deal with any bad news if and when it happens.

hi gang

just a quick one from me.

I started bleeding again last night but made the call not to go to hospital as it seemed the same as the last few times. It stopped after about an hour without major blood loss.

Anyway, its started again this morning so i am hanging in to see how i go but i think i'll be back in hospital tonight:crying:

I am taking it really easy and just waiting and seeing a little to try and help DH get ready for the party. I have to decide whether to go or not, and I am leaning towards not and heading to the hospital when they go to the party.

I don't feel like i am "taking a risk" as the bleeding is light...but I'll be going to get checked over later.

hugs to all, if i do get admitted DH will be bringing me the laptop so i'll still be in touch....prob every 5 mins due to boredom!

Smileygirl - Oh no so sorry to hear the bleeding has started again. Look after yourself!
I'm glad the birthday celebrations went well for your DS!

Doughnut - enjoy your new car! It is so nice when you get a new car, but I know what you mean about spending money after IVF!

Herewego - just stay positive, don't worry about peoples stories about things going wrong. Just remember things going wrong are always just a small percentage.

Cazzstar - how is your new pram? It must be so exciting buying baby stuff!

May - thanks for the birthday wishes - I was wondering how you knew it was my birthday but then I realised it was from FB. I'm a bit of a dope!

MrsDay - good luck for your scan on Monday!

Dragongirl - you will be a wonderful Mum I'm sure! I know what you mean about being an aunty for so long - I became an aunty when I was seven! One of my nieces and one of my nephews have already had children - which was hard at first. Finally it is our turn!

Jai - I don't feel very pregnant - just feel like I am sick all the time. Good luck for your scan!

AFM - I'm a bit annoyed because I have managed to pick up a cold which to add to the tiredness and M/s just makes me feel even more crappy. I no I shouldn't complain but I am really hoping the tiredness and M/S eases soon!

Morning Ladies

Liv - Congrats and welcome ...the weekends can be quite on here!!!

Smiley - Oh noooo... i hope it stops again keep us posted on how you are going and i'm sure if you are bored there will be one of us here to keep you company

Lulu - RPA has to take you if your in the area thats how public hospitals work unless you choose to go private then they can say no ..but public have to ..Just like Randwick had to take me if i had an address of the next suburb over being Redfern then i would have to go to RPA not Randwick but i planned it so i could go to Randwick

AFM - DH's nan is sooo excited we are having girls she had 6 boy greatgrand kids already and was so hoping for girls

Looks like i'm not going to do the birth classes as they are all at night and its just not possible for DH to be up late and then have to get up early and drive a truck its too dangerous ..so i figure i have friends with 1000's kids etc they can fill me in ..and i dont remember them doing any classes either!!

Smiley-Take care hope you doing ok & they let you out again real soon but least your in the right place if something was to happen.

Cazzstar-My twins are now 17.Plus i have a 21 yr old, & a 14yr old. 2 of each. There all very excited to be OLDER brothers n sis's which is good,i thought they'd be disapointed at me.

EKmum-Ive woken to a stupid cold today too, felt like death warmed up... DH not happpy. As if M/S isnt enough.... & of course you dont feel like eating when sick so then nausea is gonna be worse.....:hair:

Emma-Ohh how cute.I have to empty out our office/spare room for the nursery... everything will have to go downstairs in the lock up/storage room.Only going to leave the bare minimal in there like spare bed & required office stuff.Bubs will be in our room in cot for awhile.Might have to look for a corner office desk for the loungeroom instead.Hoping i can convince DH of moving but i look at the effort & think i cant be bothered... plus DS & his GF reckon there moving out early next yr (when bubs is due approx) so bubs can have their room im guessing. They want to go back down the gold coast to her family but she has to finish her traineeship here on the 1st jan 2011 first. So who knows what may happen, until thats sorted then poor Stavros doesnt have his own room.

Smiley – hope the bleeding stops for you so you can relax.

Emma – just hang onto your receipts, swapping colours for baby gear must be a relatively common thing!

Liv- great news you are moving into the ‘safe’ zone with your pregnancy!

but having the nt scan on friday and for some reason that really scares me can someone explaine how it works and how they work out the risk?[QUOTE=liv01;4815921]

Didn’t the doctor give you an info sheet on the NT test? You should be able to get a fact sheet from them. I also found this info online info, which seemed to be similar info to the fact sheet i got from obs.
http://www.babycenter.com.au/pregnancy/antenatalhealth/scans/nuchalscan/

Basically, they look at all your risk factors (age, blood test results, scan results) and combine them into a risk score which will tell you the chances of your baby having Downs. It is only a screening test so they can't actually tell if the baby has Downs, but if you have a high score, they will counsel you about what the next steps are - you can choose to do nothing or have further testing (CVS or amniocentesis) these will confirm if the baby is actually Downs, but these procedures carry a slight risk so that's why they give you the non-invasive screening test so you can avoid these if you are low risk. just ask lots of questions if you don't understand anything at the scan.

AFM, i've woken up with a cold too and feeling worse for wear. heading back to bed shortly.

:sunshine:Happy Monday everyone :sunshine:

Lots to catch up on!

Zac - the Forester is great, I looked at those too. Glad you are really happy with the Bugaboo.

Dragon -. How will you do that officially with the two names (one as a first and one as a second name maybe?) and which one will you use? I have a cultural issue to take account of in naming too - DH has a Japanese father and English mother so our surname is Japanese. I'm totally Anglo so peanut will be 25% Japanese and 75% caucasian and we want a first name that together with the surname reflects his/her cultural heritage. So we're going for a classic English first name. Oh and we are both hoping for a boy but feeling a bit guilty about that.

Lissy - don't apologise, we love having you here! I'm so pleased you turned up cos it's funny but a few days before that I was thinking of how sad it is for people who end up giving up on IVF and whether they announce it on the forum or just drift away and I thought of you and how you were on a break and hoped that wasn't going to be you. Then you popped up with your BFP:smiliedance:.

Smiley - hope you made it through the weekend and that the party was a smash hit. Yay for Mum arriving today.

May - I love your story about DD's birth. Sometimes I think this can't be real cos I just can't imagine the baby here in our lives so it's good to know that others feel that way too.

Cazz - good luck for the scan today, so darn exciting!!! Can't wait to hear how you go. Yay for the pram. My OB said not to expect to feel movement till at least 20 weeks and my SIL was telling me last night that she didn't until about 24 weeks! So don't worry at all.

Herewego - ugh we don't really need to hear things like what your Dad said, just block it out and keep up the happy thoughts. The odds are waaaaay in your favour.

Liv - welcome and congratulations:yelclap:.

Emma - that's lovely that nan's excited about the girls. While the scans can be wrong it's rare at 19 weeks. My OB told me that the guy I'm seeing has never got one wrong at 19 weeks so I'd be fairly confident. On the other hand, if yours wasn't entirely sure I'd be asking for a recheck (but it sounds like they did double check one of your bubs and since they're identical I'd be pretty comfortable with that).

AFM - to those asking about my car, it's a VW Tiguan, not a special order or anything. It's pretty standard to have to wait three months these days as the dealers don't carry much stock and usually have to order from the factory unless they happen to have floor stock to your specs. But yeah, five months is ridiculous. I'm not too bothered fortunately as I don't drive much during the week at the moment and we use DH's nice car at the weekend. Actually we'll still want to use his car when peanut is here - is it a pain to move the car seat?

Sorry for no personals. Will do tonight.

Just got out of 12 week scan and we have been classified as high risk. 1:60 chance of downs. So now we have to decide what to do. A bit sad and worried.

jai9 - Sorry to hear that you are high risk. Whatever you decide to do will be best.

I have a question for you all in terms of hormones and irrational behaviours. I have had crazy hormones and go off on irrational tangents and get cranky over nothing. Today I wrote a scathing e-mail to my builders (I really think they deserved it, but DH thinks otherwise), now DH has to calm to waters. Is anyone else behaving strangely or is it just me? I keep telling DH it is a pregnancy thing and we all go through it :)

Jai - bear in mind that altho it's classified as 'high risk' the chances of downs are still only 1.67%. So the odds are really actually very good. I've heard of loads of people who've had 1/40 and higher risk who've gone on to amnio and got the all clear. I really think it will work out for you too:goodvibes:

Jai - I am sorry you didn't get better news lovie. Did they talk to you in depth about the pros/cons of further tests as yet....or do you get to speak to the doctors again?

Thinking of you :hugs:

31-05-2010, 14:52
Jai - I'm so sorry you have to go through all this extra worry. I think I said once before that my friend's sister had a 1/47 chance so she had an amniocentesis and it came back negative. I hope that gives you a bit of hope....

PT - I just spat the dummy at some of my students, and I drove home thinking 'poor kids - they really copped it today.' The thing is, there's not 1 particular thing that's on my mind or anything, so it feels hard to rationalize these little outbursts. I guess pregnancy is our rationalization

May – How are you feeling? Has the chest cleared up yet?
Lulu – we are at RPA too (public though). You shouldn’t have any problem getting in if you live in the area. You must be close to us, we live 800m walk from RPA!
Cazz – Great work on the bugaboo purchase. I’m an ebay girl too. Good luck with the scan today
Herewego – wow.. your Dad has an interesting point of view.. Maybe he doesn’t want to get his hopes up. I prefer to look on the brightside too.
Smiley – that sucks! The baby can hear now can’t it? Tell it to stop kicking the placenta!! Seriously though, can stress bring on the bleeding. Got my fingers crossed for you sweetie.
Em –congrats, how wonderful.. two girls!
Jai - sorry to hear your news about the high risk of downs. Not the kind of stress you need.. Have my fingers crossed that everything works out for you :hugs:
Positive thinker – I have builders in my house too. I’m sure they deserved it, regardless of the hormones! (PS I’ve been a little cranky too, builders will do that to you at the best of times!)

AFM – lots of updates, so bear with me.
Cardiologist – its a bit of a long story, so I’ll hit the important bits. 1. I’m fine, 2. You shouldn’t lie on your back from 18-20 weeks pregnancy, as apparently the placenta and baby can squash some arteries or other bits which can cause palpatations.
Booked into Hospital on Friday - I found it a little overwhelming to be honest. Think it is starting to sink in.. Has anyone else felt this way?
Felt the baby move for the first time on Saturday night - I can feel it moving now actually, while I’m typing. Maybe its waving hi!
Had 19 week scan today – everything is fine

Sydneygirl -

Cardio - Mmmmm i always find myself on my back during the night or very close to being on my tummy even with a 1000 pillows (pre UTD i was a tummy sleep) but good tip ...glad your ok

Hospital Booking - We booked in at 12weeks it hits me in waves at times sometime i forget i'm pregnant and then i go to squeeze past something or try to get on the bus without looking like a fool and then it hits me again ..oh thats right i'm pregnant and then its oh that right there are two of them ..eckkkkkk wtf ..oh back to earth all good ...LOL

Baby Moving - OMG isnt weird...wonderful but weird once you feel it once you start to feel it all the time i they say that when you walk they are meant to settle down and you are meant to get more movement at night but its 24/7 in my belly party

19 Week Scan - Glad all in good

Now question for everyone ...does anyone know when they start to turn around ours are still with their heads near my belly button and i was wondering at what point they start to turn to be head down

Hi guys!
Peanut- DH just asked me yesterday of I'm gonna call our baby by it's English name or vietnamese name and if I'm gonna speak to it in english or Vietnamese? Both... That's the way I was raised and I always felt I had an advantage in knowing two languages fluently. Some might say bubs would get confused but they are very clever and the first five years is when they learn things very quickly. I think my bibs is going to have a very long name on his/her birth certificate cos it's having two names and two surnames :)
jai- sorry to hear about your NT results, but it's just an indication, what's your next step are you going to do an amnio? Hope everything is going to be fine for you and bubs. I still don't know what my risk is yet will find out on Thursday.
PT- I think most of us have irrational days. Some days in so happy others I feel do depressed and just feel cranky at everybody and everything(DH cops most of it :) )
smiley- promise you will go to hospital straight away if it gets worse, thinking of you xxxxx
doughnut- hope cold goes away. Wow you've been together as long as we have. If you don't mind me asking, was yours a male or female factor? And how long have you been doing IVF?
Sydney & lulu- RPA is an excellent hospital, DH had two transplants done there and a few other ops, I know the hospital pretty well :)
and sydney, if you shouldn't lie on your back how are you supposed to lie? I can't lie on my side for very long anymore :(
welcome liv :)

Dragon - as i saw your post i just finished reading this statement

Lying on your left side is the ideal position for sleeping since it prevents the weight of the baby from obstructing the blood flow through the vena cava and aorta, both of which lie slightly to the right of your spine.

I'm totally avioding working this afternoon ..i ready to go home now please ..only 1hr to go

Oh and on the subject of how long everyone has been with their DH's or DP's 15yrs in December he keeps saying he needs a medal i keep saying i need therapy!!!

Sydney - glad that the cardiologist appt was good. how exciting feeling bubs move.

doughnut - that car looks really nice. but I think we want something a bit larger.

May - waiting for my ob to ring me so will have a chat to him about further tests.

herewego - I remember you saying that about your friend. DH is very positive and is sure everything will be fine, but I think we will probably end up having an amnio.

peanut - that is one of the cars on our list. might have to start looking soon if they take that long to come. not sure if we would go for petrol or diesel though.

cazz - I have a corolla. it is sedan so not big enough for our pram, dog stuff and luggage when we go away, but if you get a hatch you can usually fit heaps more stuff in. hope your scan goes well today.

smiley - sorry to hear that the bleeding came back. what did you decide to do in the end.

herewego - not what you need to be hearing from you dad, but being a dr I guess he feels like he should be honest. sounds like you dh had a great weekend.

dragon - I have friends who have been taught 2 languages from birth and they don't seem get to confused. prob going to have the amnio. good luck with your results.

emma - sorry, haven't got that far in the baby book yet, so not sure when they turn around.

hello to everyone else. hope all of those with colds get better soon.

afm - waiting for ob to call. rang work and said i wouldn't be in for the rest of the day. was planning on telling work, but not sure what to do now. DH thinks I should still tell them. think we will have an amnio, but not sure yet. will have to do some research.

Hey girls - on the sleeping on your back issue, I bought one of those body pillows and it is really good. Dragon - I have some friends that have a slavic mum and german dad (I know  ). Seriously, when they were smaller (they are 8 and 10 now), their Dad only ever spoke to them in german, (he spoke to everyone else in english). Anyway, they speak fluent german, no problem. I wish one of us (me or DP) could speak another language, I think it is such a great gift to give a child.

The cardiologist said lay on your side, preferrably your left side (like em said). It must have been those blood flow thingys that Em mentioned that the little monster was squishing causing the palps.

Jai - I know it is easier said than done, but try not to get too upset. From the info that people have been saying eg minibar, there is a really really good chance that everything will be ok. Try to stay positive if you can :)

Hey girls, I am joining the head cold group=sux big time.

Jai- Sorry to hear your news. Hopefully you and DH can decide what you want to do with confidence. I too have had a friend with high risk and she had the amnio. All fine and she is nearly due.

Sydney girls- Glad to hear good news from the cardiologist. I have been forced to sleep on my side for ages now as it feels weird to sleep on my back. I cant get used to the body pillow tho, it seems really high!

Emma- WIll check out what to expect when you are expecting for the turn around. I am sure that book has a website you can look it all up on too.

Herewego- I am so looking forward to having a break from the loonie parents I deal with and some of the teacher aides. I just dont care anymore, been there 5 years and I am so ready for a break! Dont feel bad, I feel your pain!

Dragon- Good luck with your results.

AFM- Tried to change the scan so DH could come after surgery but they are booked for weeks. So it will be mum and I. I did have a laugh with him, saying that I can now find out the sex and keep it my secret but he knew I was only kidding. I am so up for the suprise!

Emma - I'm reading what to expect when you're expecting.

Cazz - congrats on a girl. that is fantastic news.

Minibar - thanks for jumping in. glad to hear that all worked out well for you. Am very hopeful that everything will be ok for us. the thing I find the hardest is the risk of miscarriage associated with the amnio, it took us so long to get utd, I don't really want to jeopardise it.

Zac - shame Dh can't come with you. am sure you're mum will love being there. hope you feel better soon.

herewego - have never heard of a body pillow but might have to check it out as I get bigger. am still sleeping on my stomach though, so not sure how I'm going to go when I can't do that anymore.

sydney - sounds like your scan went well which is good.

Feeling more relaxed about everything now. spoke to my ob and he said most of the time it turns out to be fine, and that it is up to us if we have the amnio. we have a few weeks to think about it which is good.

Cazz- wow congrats on a girl. That's what you were hoping for wasn't it? Me too :) but like you said if it's a boy well probably keep it anyway :) I think theres more chances of a girl if you did ICSI ?
Zac- where did you hear about the Vicks? I'd like to know too cos I've been using it and sniffing it to help me with my nausea :( ummm better check now, I thought it was safe cos it's so mild and everyone uses it for babies.
Jai- glad you are feeling ok. Try not to worry too much xxxxx
Emma- thanks for the info, guess I better start getting used to sleeping on my left side.
Sydney- there's so many different inter-racial relationships now it's great to know lots of languages. I know of another couple too. Dad spoke to them in Vietnamese, mum spoke Japanese and when mum and dad spoke they spoke English so the kids were fluent in 3 languages. Someone asked me once that when I think, what language do I think in :) just depends what I'm thinking about haha....

hi gang!

Well, I'm still on the lounge....yippee!

Cazz - congrat's on a girl!! this is a very pink thread lol

Zac - not sure on vicks. i had a strepsil when my throat was really bad but felt so guilty lol Your mum will love the scan, shame for DH....it will be all good!

Syd - so excitin having a surprise!! I can't wait to find out in a few months!

jai - hugs, i hope things are fine. I have heard of lots of high risk people that are just fine :hugs:

dragon - i have a friend who did that...she only spoke french and hubby spoke english and her kids are doing amazingly well! The 5 year old fluent in both and her 3 year old is almost there too....such a wonderful gift for your children

Sleeping girls - i have a body pillow and i love it....but still struggling to sleep. Am looking at a bed wedge...but not sure yet.

AFM - well, i am still home and my mum is here! I am still spotting but not bleeding so i am staying put for now. Mum is being a dictator and making me take it extra easy lol

Elliott very excited to see nana, but remembered that i said if i had to stay in hospital then nana would come and totally freaked out at bedtime:gloomy: Seems i can't win! Anyway, i said he could sleep in our bed tonight to prove i wasn't going anywhere...hopefully that helps. Poor lil man.

So, hoping i get to stay a few more days if not even longer...wish the spotting would stop.....need some peace of mind...but, at least mum is here to help...and has had a bit of a run down today of what happens.

hugs to any I have missed....i might be a bit mia this week with mum here but i promise to let you know if anything happens!

Jai - I'm glad your ob was able to put your mind at ease a bit.

Zacaudrey - if you're not sure, try ringing health direct. They are really helpful, and can advise you on what is safe to take.

Cazzstar - another girl!!! Congratulations. DH so desperately wants a boy so hopefully we'll buck the trend

Sydneygirls - I'm glad the cardiologist cleared things up for you.

Smileygirl - I'm glad your mum's there to ease the load a bit. Hopefully that bleeding stays far far away. Is it just because of the unique position that your placenta is in that you're having all this bleeding? It's just that my sister had placenta previa and she never experienced bleeding, so I'm assuming the 2 don't always go hand in hand?

AFM - I've had a headache all afternoon so I'm going to have an early night I think. Sorry for no more personals....

I've got test in 2 weeks and have started to think about what I would do. Its all very hard, but still a low overall percentage chance. Good luck.

Sydneygirls - we are local too - just near enmore theatre. When did you book in to rpa? Are you using your own doctor?

Cazzstar- congratulations on your little girl.
Looks like it might be all girls here. I'm going to find out.

Is there more of a chance of having a girl with ivf?

I'm spotting and cramping again. Started last night. This is the 3rd episode in 2 weeks. Ob says its fine. He says I can come in for a scan anytime to see the heart beat but I was only in there a week ago so I feel a bit silly asking to come back again.
I'm 10 weeks and 2 days and go from feeling really positive (when this isn't happening) and planning for the baby to come to worrying that I'm going to lose the baby. Its horrible.
It seems to last about 3-4 days and then go and its not red.
Stressful!

I wrote a big post early and before i could post it BH crashed ..grrrrr hate that

Zac - I used vick in the early stages or pregnancy when i had bronchitis the doc never said i couldnt its mainly sugar in those things anyway ..feel better soon

Dragon - I think its great your kids will know more than one language ..i know english and slang does that count LOL

Now who told you the IVF cause mainly girls thats crazy talk ....the sex of a baby starts are a girl and is determined by the sperm only so if your DH has strong sperm he will turn the baby girl into a boy .. i know there is a gender selection thing the americans do for those people who want to have one or the other but i think it dangerous as i believe it tampers with their cromozones (Ph sp) and that to me seems wrong

Smiley - You rest up please no over doing it ...you keep your butt on that lounge

Cazz - Welcome to club pink!!! once we pop these babies out when i go up your way we will have to catch up and meet

Lulu - Hang in there if you are really worried just go in for the scan bugger what they think if it puts your mind as easy i say do it ..i went into the clinic and had some tet when i had the brown spotting early on

Happy Tuesday everyone :flowerz:

Jai - Just wanted to say that I wouldn't worry too much about the risk with amnio, altho I totally understand about not wanting to jeopardise this hard won pregnancy. I have several friends who did the amnio with no issues at all and another friend who worked as a nurse for an OB for 4 years and said there was never one single problem in all that time. This friend had an amnio herself just for reassurance. If you get an experienced and skilled person the risk is actually a lot less than the general risk of 1%. I got the petrol Tiguan, DH managed to get a very good deal on the top model. he reckons they are taking so long with delivery bc they aren't going to make any profit on it!

PT - totally with you on the random fits of rage! Bit embarrassing at times really, getting so worked up over nothing but oh well, we have a good excuse.

Sydney - so glad your scan went well and that you got the all clear from the cardiologist. Good to know that about back sleeping. That must be so wonderful to be feeling bub, how fantastic.

Emma - your 24/7 belly party sounds awesome!

Dragon - so cool when kids are raised with two languages. My friend's 4 year old was spoken to in English, Cantonese and East Timorese from birth and is now fluent in all three, it's just great. :fingerscrossed: you get your girl and we get our boy but we'll all be totally infatuated when bub arrives either way I'm sure.

Herewego - I must get on of those body pillows, at the moment I just use DH which is pretty comfy for me but maybe not him so much:laughing:. Hope the headache has gone.

Zac - sorry about the cold, rest up as much as you can hon.

Cazz - woohoo!!!!!! That's fantastic news for you and DH, just what you ordered!

Smiley - so glad to hear Mum is keeping you under control and you're still on the sofa!

Lulu- sorry about the spotting, it's hard enough to get used to the idea without that extra doubt in your mind. Sounds like your OB is not concerned but I hope it stops soon for your own peace of mind.

AFM - just got a lot of crampy discomfort in the belly at the moment. It's all digestive stuff that's really annoying me. DH scared the c(&* out of me at dinner the other night announcing that his parents are coming from Brisbane for the birth and staying with us for 6 weeks. Yikes it can't be true. We will have just moved back into our house and have a brand new bub, I need some space. Is that mean? I'm happy for them to come for a week or so but the thought of birth till Christmas with us is scary. I'm going to email now and get to the bottom of it. DH probably has it all wrong anyway...

dragongal77
01-06-2010, 10:27
Emma- I didn't say IVF gives more chances of girls I said ICSI :) apparently when you do ICSI they choose the strongest looking sperm and the girl sperm is usually better looking :) correct me if I'm wrong though I just thought I read that somewhere that doing ICSI reverses the chances. Normally the ratio for boys is higher. Oh and I think zac was talking about vicks vapour rub, which I have used a few times wonder if it's safe?

gottabecrazy
01-06-2010, 10:39
I did know what you meant habit of writing IVF i guess ..but as i said all sperm is girl sperm as it starts out ..dont quote me on it ..but it was what DR Howard said to us..something about X and Y blah blah ..i'm sure there are two sides to this one but just going off what the doc told us

They do use ICSI in the US as i was saying to malnipulate to sex so basically they change a babies chromosomes to get the desired sex they want ...which i dont like the thought of personally

If you ladies arent sure on the vicks sitution call mothersafe

http://www.sesiahs.health.nsw.gov.au/Mothersafe/

they will tell you what you can and cant take

peanut22
01-06-2010, 10:48
Quick biology lesson :D - woman are XX chromosome and men are XY. All eggs are X chromosome (girl only) whereas sperm are either X or Y. If an X sperm fertilises the egg you get an XX (girl) and if a Y sperm fertilises the egg you get a XY (boy). So it all depends on which sperm gets there first. I don't know whether ICSI has any impact, from what I know they just choose the best looking swimmer!

peanut22
01-06-2010, 10:53
Oh and a quick google suggests Dragon is right, the ratio of girls with ICSI is slightly higher than in nature. But in nature it's is about 105 boys for every 100 girls because more baby boys don't make it so it balances out in the end. So ICSI is probably closer to 1-1. Apparently boy sperm swim faster but girl sperm is stronger so maybe that's why it's chosen more often for ICSI...?

He said 10% of women experience this and I can come in any time.
I can't believe that the baby looks like a baby this week when it didn't really last week.
Relief!

Just a quick update to everyone, regarding hormones and craziness ... it paid off this time! The builders admitted they were wrong and are going to fix it, DH now doesn't think I am so crazy :)

Hope everyone is having a great day!

There is a girl on BH who went to the states for ivf sex selection and she was saying they sort the sperm into the male and female ones - apparently they look different, and then only use the sperm of the desired gender to fertilise the eggs. it's not 100% accurate though.

Peanut - good on DH for negotiating a good price. I think we will use a car broker as DH is not a negotiator and neither am I. hopefully you can find out how long the inlaws will be staying for, but 6 weeks with a newborn sounds like a bit much.

lulu - glad to hear you could get in for a scan and that all is well.

And my google came up the other way and i also saw some post on Wikianswers that said they same as Dragon ..like i said there are two sides to this no one is right or wrong ...and i choose to go with my Dr who i feel knows more than Dr Google to be honest

Lulu - glad everythig is okay....sound like you have a great OB!

Peanut - ohhh dear....visitors straight after you have bub!! My worst nightmare! I don't think you are being selfish at all. I hope DH has it wrong. If not, is it possible for them to stay elsewhere? For me, those first few weeks were the most 'fragile' of times. It is a time for you and DH to get to know bub and work out how this parenting thing goes (DH kept asking for the instruction manul....must have left it at the hospital ) You are tired, sore, emotional, overwhelmed and totally in love with your new bundle!! For me, having house guest would have just been the pits....but I guess it depends on your relationship with them and what sort of house guest they will be? Good luck with sorting it out - and don't be afraid to stand your ground....this is your time!

Jai - It sounds like there are heaps of people who have had great results after having high risk results. If you are really concerned about the amnio, just remember that you dont have to have the amnio.....it is only a suggested test. What ever you and DH decide to do will be the best thing lovie :hugs:

Sydney - yay for your scan! And yay for a surprise bub (we didn't find out either). Good tip about the sleeping on your left side. I had heard of not sleeping on your back - but I thought it was when you are much further along. I am a tummy sleeper usually so have been trying to get used to sleeping on my side - with a pillow behind me and and a pillow in front of me....wedged!

Emma - about your head up/down question....I know that DD moved around right up until about 34-35 weeks?? She was even transverse (sideways) at about 34 weeks from memory? But with two in there I would think that moving that much would become alot harder a lot earlier on. I think with a singleton....they can become 'engaged' in their ready to go position from around 34 weeks......but saying that some are still not engaged at 37-38 weeks? Sorry, that has probably been no help at all

Smiley - so pleased you ave your mum hear to help out! Poor E...he must of thought Nanna=Mum in Hospital. Take it easy lovie!

Herewego - hows the head today? Hope it has eased off.

Cazz - Yay for a little bundle of PINK!! So happy for you......little girls are made of sugar ans spice and all things nice! I must admit, while I really want the surprise on birth day....I am getting so jealous of you girls that know! I think I secretly want another girl(ohhh - did I just say that!!). So have you talked about names yet? This is really turning into a 'girlie' thread!!

Zac - hope you are feeling better today. Not long until your scan...woo hoo! Are you going to have a 'surprise' as well?

Dragon - I so wish I could speak another language...it will be great to teach bub while they are so young. I have good friends who are Dutch and they speak to both their girls (4 and 3) in Dutch at home. The gilrs speak both English and Dutch fluently. It is funny though sometimes as the gilrs will come out with a Dutch word for something while speaking English. They got very frustrated with me one day because they were looking for their #$%*&^% after swimming....little did I know they were saying 'towel'!

EKmum - how are you going lovie...hope the cold is better today!

PT - Well done.....the hormones have come in handy!

AFM - well I think I am finally feeling human again after having this bl&&dy cold and chest infection. Last day of antibiotics! We have an OB's appointment tomorrow - DH is coming as he is on holidays. Funny, the ob's office rang this morning to confirm the appointment and then said "oh and a friendly reminder that your $2000 mamagement fee is due tomorrow as well"....ahhhhh! So friendly of them....bugger, I had sort of forgotten about it...or thought it was further away! Then we have our 2nd go at the anatomy scan on Thursday....lets hope bub plays nicely this time! I think Imight be looking for those 3 lines or a dangly bit!!!

Emma- it was just something I read and thought I would share cos I did ICSI and hoping for a girl. I did put a question mark at the end of the statement. And silly talk or not there are all sorts of different statements and views out there. Who knows what's true or not anyway. I wasn't trying to start a debate on it just sharing something I had read :)

May - glad you are feeling more human. Good luck with your scan.

Positive Thinker - I threw a wobbly with my builders last week and all of a sudden (today!) my bathroom that they have been working on since the beginning of March is finished!! Hooray! I say through a wobbly whenever you want.. at least if you are in the wrong you can pull the crazy pregnant lady card  If you are right, they may get their a's into gear!

Lulu - we are public with RPA, so just filled in the form on line and faxed it to them to book in. Here is the link to the page.

Smiley - glad your Mum is with you. Hope E is feeling better too.

Oh yeah and a tip for the ladies approaching the 19 week scan.

I drank bucket loads of water thinking I needed a full bladder. :( Was busting to go to the loo by the time I got there, only to find out that they were running late...

So, I went to the loo, (was only supposed to let a little out, but good luck with that ). I came back and kept drinking water and ended up drinking another bottle of water before I went in (about 600mm). That was plenty of water apparently..

So, the moral of the story is, you don't have to be busting, just have a couple of glasses of water before your scan.

May11
01-06-2010, 17:13
It is funny how we all get told different things....I was told to have an empty bladder for my 19 weeks scan. I asked if maybe I should have a full bladder for this next one (will be 21 weeks) and they said no as a full bladder can push on the uteris and obscure the view?

01-06-2010, 17:46
Sydneygirls - yay for getting your bathroom finished! That wobbly really did the trick. When I had my u/s they said to drink 500ml of water 1 hour before my appointment, and that seemed to work fine for them. It was good because I wasn't overly busting either. They said to do the same for my 19 week scan.

May - ooh, do you think you'll cave? I was telling DH last night that there are mainly baby girls on this thread. He said that a guy at work's wife is about to give birth and he asked if they know what the sex is. The guy said no, and they were loving the anticipation of knowing that they'll find out soon. I think DH is having second thoughts about finding out now... He's always been the one who's wanted to know, so I said he's still got 3 weeks to make up his mind. Part of me would like the surprise, and the other part of me would love to be able to go out and buy baby clothes!

Jai - how are you feeling today? Has your ob given you any advice about having an amnio?

Lulu - your ob sounds very caring. I'm glad he was able to put your mind at ease.

PT - it would be a very stupid builder not to admit fault to a hormonal pregnant client  I'm glad everyone is realizing that you're not crazy :p

AFM - I've been feeling so lethargic these last couple of days. My body seems to be tired for a couple of days after a walk, even though I usually walk the dogs all the time. I've still got my headache as well - it's sort of like a hunger headache but it doesn't go away when I eat, and believe me, I have been eating and eating these last couple of days. Wingnut must be going through a growth spurt. According to What to expect..... the baby is now the size of a turnip

A quickee from me as I had today off and basically slept all day. question tho....

Dragon - hey DDB! I did read a research study showing a slightly lower incidence of boys with ICSI so for your sake I hope there's something to it:goodvibes:. I'd like some boy vibes over this way! I'm feeling good, just impatient for some more action, esp. that 19 week scan. After that I'll feel like I can go shopping and call bub by name. It just feels like nothing much is happening at the moment, still not into maternity clothes, still not really feeling pregnant. I've been having a few stomach aches but nothing much else, how about you?

Evening Everyone

Peanut - The wait for the 19 week scan is sooo long a wait isn't it?! How much longer do you have to wait? I love the idea of being able to identify with bub now. We think we have named her already ;) I'm still not feeling particularly preggers but getting there. I can't wait until I can wear the maternity wardrobe my mum got me!

Zac - Thanks lovely! Yes, we think we have her name. Not certain yet but DP's already calling her that to test it out. We like Olive Mae.

Herewego - I had lots of headaches & sometimes still do. I spoke to Obs about them & she said they are totally normal & hormonal. She said don't wait to take panadol, take it straight away to knock it on the head otherwise they can last days. I was trying not to take Panadol but she says its absolutely fine & safe.

Sydney - You crack me up with the full bladder scan! You must have been busting! I remember having one before & having to leave half way through to go loo. After that the doc said I didn't have to drink a gallon just a glass or two!

May - This thread is definitely girly so far!! We really wanted a girl too so we're thrilled! I had a dream it was a girl & gravitated towards girls things in shops etc. Do you think you'll cave & find out at your scan?? I'm so rubbish with surprises! I had to know!! You have just reminded me! We'll have to pay our 2k at our Obs appointment too!!! :crying:

OOOOOH gotta go ladies!! Grey's just started!! Will be back later for rest of personals!!!!!! xxxxxxxxx

Sydneygirls-thanks for the link. My ob's rooms apparently sent this request in to rpa 4 weeks ago. They haven't heard back and the number I have never gets picked up. Did you get notified somehow that you were accepted?

Zacaudrey – sorry to hear you have got a cold too. :dizzy:I’ve just guzzled a couple of big glasses of OJ hoping that will help.
Jai – it is a small car, I think if you had any more than 1 child (eg child + dog or 2+ children) it would be a squeeze. I think it should work ok for us.
Dragon –my problems are female related and supposedly easy to fix, but after multiple attempts with clomid + prog + AIH we decided to try IVF and were lucky to get BFP first cycle! Still can’t believe it really and I feel incredibly fortunate.:cloud9:

Peanut & cazz- I've started wearing maternity clothes already :) I think I'm enjoying that bit the most cos I think I always had a protruding belly anyways haha. DH woke up this morning and felt my stomach and looked abit worried. He felt my stomach had shrunk so now I've been told I need to EAT! Quite funny!
Peanut I get those stomach aches too. On send the girl vibes my way and I'll send boy vibes your way. I know we shouldn't be picky and be happy that we are even preggers but we are allowed a preference too aren't we? DH so wants a boy but I wanna please myself :) who cares about him anyway? :)
zac- everyone keeps asking me why I wanna find out and why I don't keep it as a surprise. I wish I was that strong haha
cazz- I've had plenty of headaches too but have been too scared to take anything for them.
Doughnut- that's great you were successful on your first IVF cycle, it's so good to hear of short & sweet journeys.

:sunshine:Happy Wednesday all:flowerz:

Lulu - that's so great that your OB is so responsive and that everything is looking good with bub.

PT - sometimes this hormonal stuff prob just makes us more assertive than we would normally be! Well done...

May - thanks so much for your thoughts re the parent-in-laws proposed visit, it's great to hear that from someone who's been through the new baby stage. Hope your OB appointment goes well today.

Sydney - yay for the bathroom, we should be more assertive all the time! Thanks for the tip on the 19 week scan. I remember reading that once pregnant you don't need to drink water for a scan bc the amniotic fluid serves the same function...? I wasn't told to drink anything by the ultrasound place but will have a little now I've heard that.

Herewego - :laughing:What to expect and their vegie comparisons. I can't really picture a turnip well! Surely your whole belly didn't disappear? I'm feeling huge today.

Zac - hope the scan goes well today and your secret is safe!

Cazz - 3 weeks tomorrow till the scan, it does feel like time is dragging at the moment. That is so cool that you can call bub her instead of it and I LOVE your name, it's gorgeous. I really like Oliver/Ollie for a boy but it's pretty common now while Olive is something different and you can call her Ollie too, so cute! Are you not in any maternity clothes yet?

AFM - well I clarified things with the MIL and all good. Bloody DH scaring me for no reason. The inlaws are doing the grey nomad thing from October and will hit the outskirts of Melb in early Dec (they'll stay in a park but visit bubs and us) and MIL asked if it would be okay if they came to stay with us for a few days over xmas. Now we just need our renos finished so we can move back home.

My car has arrived finally and I get to pick it up in a few days, yay.

cazzstar

Peanut - :smiliedance: Yay!! Your car finally arrived!! That's awesome news!! *Phew* the inlaws aren't moving in! My inlaws are all in England but DP's father has threatened to come stay with us for 3 weeks over Xmas. I know it sound awful, but the man is the biggest d!ck I have ever met & told DP I'll be moving to mums if he does come!!

Peanut & Dragon - I'm wearing maternity pants and some tops if they are underneath things but they are too loose to wear on their own & look a bit funny. You know the elastic gathering at the sides on the tops? They hang pretty loose. I have to wear bigger sized tops to fit my (.)(.) in so regular tops are fine for now.

Dragon - It's not silly you have a theory on ICSI boys vs girls! For your sake I hope you are right! My BF has the same theory only she thinks boys because apparently they are the faster swimmers. I read a few papers on it before we started (because we wanted a girl too) and came to the conclusion that the difference is so tiny it's basically 50/50. Saying that, out of the 5 people I know doing or have done ICSI 4 of them have girls and the other had twins (a boy & a girl!). How funny! :p

Jai - That must have been tough news to hear :( I know of quite a few people who had the same scare, they did the amnio & everything turned out fine. I'm sure it will for you to. I'm glad you have some time to think about it. Which way are you leaning?

Smiley - Yay!! You get to hang with your mum! Poor Elliott, sounds like it's a lot to process for him. I think you are doing really well! :fingerscrossed: you can stay out of hospital for a while yet!

Lulu - Sounds like you have a fantastic Obs! That's awesome you can get in so quickly.

Better scoot ladies! Off to lunch with a mate, can't wait!

oh & Peanut - I'm glad you like our name! :) We picked it a long time ago before we even started IVF. It feels kind of funny calling her that before she's born but DP can't help himself & I must admit when I think about her I always think of her as Olive. DP wants her nickname to be Ollie and I quite like Libby so she might get all sorts! Have you thought about names at all?? x

Peanut - glad to hear you sorted things our with your P'sIL visiting. yay for your new car arriving.

doughnut - yes, the dualis does seem a bit small for us. will have to go test drive some cars when we get back from hols.

herewego - spoke to the ob on monday, but won't see him till we get back from hols. He basically said, have the amnio if we would terminate if the baby had downs, but don't bother if we wouldn't. DH and I have decided to have the amnio, from what I've been reading the risks seem quite low, but it will still be very nervewracking.

dragon - haven't bought any maternity clothes yet, but I too am looking forward to wearing them.

cazz - I had the worst headache yesterday and held off on taking the panadol and when I finally did, it only numbed it a bit, think I will take it earlier next time.

sydney - yay for getting the bathroom done. do they have much left to do. the painter is coming while we're on hols and then the kitchen will be all finished, and only the laundry left to do, and we're just going to put an ikea one in ourselves.

afm - last day of work for 2 1/2 weeks. Yay, off to queensland on Monday - more yay, so looking foward to the warm weather. am feeling much more positive about the amnio and the downs risk now after hearing what everyone has to say.

Heya chickadees. Some good news with our scan, all normal and some gorgeous face shots where there are smiles ( or looks to be ) happening! Just picked up DH from the hospital, his op went well and we just watched the dvd.

It was hard having the sonographers know the sex and me requesting them not to tell me! My mum loved it all, so that was nice. So names.... Cazz I love Olive. Such a very nice vintage name. Is she after anyone? We have been so worried all these year TTC that someone would take our names! Boys are either Oscar or Elijah and the girls are Elkie or Violet. No one has pinched them yet!!

Jai- Enjoy coming to Queensland. It is very nice up here but still suprisingly chilly.

Peanut- Enjoy that new car smell. I love it!

Doughnut- I went for it yesterday and ate 3 raw garlic cloves. I think it did the trick as today I am loads better. Stinky tho.

Emma- I told them straight up that we didnt want to know the sex and I dont think I could have worked it out anyway, so many bits everywhere!

02-06-2010, 18:23
Cazz- olive is a beautiful name! And
Zacaudrey - I love your names too. Especially Violet.
Massive drought of girls names that we can agree on. Boys names seem so much easier.

02-06-2010, 18:30
Zacaudrey - I'm so glad everything went well. I've heard that the 19 week scan is really detailed because they look at every part of the baby's body - all the organs etc. I'm glad you didn't catch a glimpse of any parts of the anatomy that you didn't want to see!

Lulu - I read somewhere that there are more babies with downs syndrome born to younger women because they are more likely not to get screened for it. Obviously quite a few of the older women who get screened and get a +ve result decide to terminate.

Jai - I think what your ob said was good advice. That's basically what my ob said to me before I had the nt scan. He said if I'm not going to act on bad news then there's no point finding out.

As for names - I've had Adam picked out as a boys name for ages, and just recently I've decided I like Erin for a girl. There's still a long way to go and lots of potential changes of mind though!

DH did his food shop for work on Monday (which work pays for) and he came home with sooo much chocolate and lollies for me. I seriously think he's turning into a 'feeder.' I think he wants a fat wife! The funny thing is, the more chocolate there is in the cupboard, the less I tend to eat. Reverse psychology I guess. I've still got most of my easter eggs in the cupboard. Maybe some chocolate will lift me out of this grumpy mood. I've felt so tired and hormonal these last couple of days, and have had such a short fuse. Who would have thought that something the size of a turnip could sap so much energy.

Em – Yay for your girls, was it the 19 weeks scan you found out?
Jai – sorry to hear about the scan, extra stress is not nice! Hope it all works out well for you.
Smiley – look after yourself and rest up, thinking of you.
Sydney – congrats on feeling a movement, how exciting! We have been told I wont feel anything for a while due to the placenta being anterior (lying in front of the baby)
Herewego – thanks for the tip on the pillow, I was thinking of getting one, I have a ‘body pillow” in the back of the cupboard somewhere do you think that will do the trick?
Cazzstar – congrats on finding out about your little girl!
Lulu – so happy you could see little bubs, its such a relief isn’t it. Remember this is your little one, go in as much as you need ( I did for the first 9 weeks –I had miscarried in the past)
Hugs to everyone feeling bit under the weather at the moment with the colds going around.
AFM – think I am starting to get over the m/s just sick in the mornings now (a lot better than it was) 16 week scan went really well everything looking perfect, however we couldn’t see the “bits” so another 3 week wait for the 19 week can. Zac - OMG!! That's awesome! Violet was on our girls short list and if it was a boy we were going to call him Oscar (Eli was on the short list too!). How funny! We also freaked about peeps stealing our names. Especially since we told a mate that was having a baby how much we loved 'Olive' then, a few weeks later they said they were going to use Olive if it was a girl! I told him I'd kill him & he said "well, first in best dressed". Thankfully they had a boy so we still speak to them!

So glad your scan went well today! It's great you got some good pics, I preferred our 12 week one for pics. We didn't get any good face shots this time & the ones we did get look freaky!

Herewego - Thanks! I love it too! Adam is lovely, I used to have a crush on a boy named Adam! I wish my DP was a feeder sometimes! He's the health food & portions police so it's boring ;-)

Lulu - My friend has a theory that you can think of lots of names of the sex you are having but none for the other. So, we came up with lots of girls names but our boys list was really short & we couldn't really agree. You must be having a boy!!! ;)

Jai - Yay!!! Holidays!!! I'm jealous :p Hope you have a wonderful time & come back feeling fabulous. Spoke to my Obs again about my headaches & how I feel guilty if I have to take panadol a couple of times a day & she said get into them. It's perfectly safe & there's no sense having a headache for ages!

Zac - love your names too, especially Elkie! I love names that are not very common. Glad your scan went well and that DH's op went well!

Herewego - Love Erin....growing up I was always going to call my daughter Erin and then my cousin went and had an Erin! Adam is lovely as well.

Jai - enjoy your holiday....time for some rest and relaxation!

Mrs Day - hi there....glad you are starting to feel a bit better.

Emma - you are very quiet today???? Hope all is okay with you.

Hi to Dragon, lulu, Peanut, Smiley, Ekmum and everyone else!

AFM - Had my ob appointment today...all went well...I really like my doc. DH came today and even he said that he was really impressed with him. My gestational diabetes test came back 'all good' - so now just have to get through the 28 week one. We talked more today about the possbile c-section.....looks like we will gothat way, but going to wait to make that decision. Jai - sorry to hear your news, but glad to see you are feeling better about it. Enjoy your trip to queensland - sounds wonderful - I'm very jealous!

Cazz - I love your name too - and I would be absolutely furious if a friend stole my name!

Zac - your names sound great too. Glad your scan went well.

MrsDay - glad to hear your M/S is getting better! (Gives me hope!)

Herewego - glad to hear your DH is looking after you with lots of chocolate!!!

Peanut - woohoo on getting your new car - very exciting. Glad to hear you sorted out the inlaw situation. When I read your post about them staying for 6 weeks - I thought how thoughtless of them, luckily that wasn't the plan. I don't think I could cope with someone staying with me with a newborn!

May - good to hear your Ob is looking after you. Where are you having your bub? Good luck with your scan tomorrow!

doughnut - glad to hear your M/S is easing

Hello:wave: Emma, Smiley, Dragongirl, Lulu, Sydneygirls and anyone else I missed.

AFM - my cold is getting better and it seems to have got rid of my M/s, although I think it will probably return when the cold goes. Still really tired though - can't believe how tired I get, it's really frustrating. On the panadol/headaches topic - I have had a couple of bad headaches and have taken panadol, the dr reassured me it was fine. I know you can't take nurofen though!
I told my boss today that I was preg, she was very happy for me (usually she doesn't show much emotion so it was nice). We have been slowly telling people - told family and some close friends on the weekend - so I hope nothing goes wrong in the next couple of weeks!

Hi guys!
Cazz- thanks for the reassurance that I'm not silly :) did you get my reply to your pm? As I said though it wasn't my theory it was just something I read. And then you go on to say that you usually think of names for the sex of the baby you're having... Well I've got a few boys names picked out but can't think of a girl's name :( . Having said all that I honestly don't really care what I have just a live healthy baby is all I can hope for. BTW Olive is a gorgeous name, really cute. At least now you can talk to your bubs by name.
Zac- congrats on a great scan! I think every good scan we have makes us feel more excited. It's good you didn't see any "bits" cos you didn't want to know but maybe cos there are no hanging bits :) haha
lulu- that's a hard one. My doc asked me before I went for the scan if I would consider terminating my baby, and if I didn't I shouldn't bother doing it. I know with scan it gives you are high or low risk rating and it's an indication and even if you get a high risk your baby could be fine and vice versa but does an amnio confirm it definately? I personally don't know if I could cope with a disabled baby. It would be a heartbreaking decision though, let's just hope none of us have to make that decision. I will find put my results tomorrow.
May- can't wait to see my tummy move. I think I have felt my baby move but don't know if I'm imagining it.
Mrs day & ekmum- yay for ms easing, it's horrible.
Hello to everyone else

Ok just a little rant from me :) just found out my brother who has two kids with ex-wife whom he deserted and has nothing to do with the kids. He has a baby girl with his new partner whom he only had cos she wanted one to help her visa application. They flitter from place to place, obtain goods by deception. Well guess what? They're accidently pregnant :( because he "forgot" to use a raincoat once...arrgghhh it ****es me off that they didn't even want it. She was just asking me the other day if she would be entitled to the baby bonus cos she's not a permanent resident yet and if she was she would start popping them out.

Zac - Glad they didnt spill the beans

May - Yes i am very quite nothing really to say

MrsDay - Yes it was the 19wks scan it took us two hrs all up cause they were moving so much

Sydneygirls - I always drink heaps and they still say haven't you dranking anything the scan before last she wanted to do an internal to check the cervix cause my bladder wasnt full enough ...i do have a retroverted uterus so i wonder if that plays a part in it??

as it seems you cant express an opposite opinion or rather a quote from your FS without being assused of calling someone "Silly" which Dragon i never called you i said that i thought based on what my FS told me about ISIC crazy based on his experence i also went to back you up by say that even though my FS said this they do do GENDER SELECTION with icsi so maybe this is where the stat comes from and that i personally do not like gender selection as it plays with chromosones and i dont agree with that ...others do i dont..i also said i choose to believe my FS over a google article cause let face it our pregnancy symptoms could also be a sign of cancer so how reilable it that ..again never called you silly so the little snide remarks and "oh did you get my PM's" where you have been obviously b1tching about this instead of saying it straight up to me and really childish

So i wont be posting on here very often as it has just been turned into school yard bullsh1t and i dont want a part of that crap ..

I wish you ladies all the very best

Emma- excuse me, I was only answeing cazz's post to me. She sent me a pm asking me how I was going with my pregnancy cos I'm such a worry wart I replied to it and never got a response back so I asked her if she had got it.
We are all here to support each other through our pregnancies. I find that the info that I learn from you guys is wonderful. I just can't believe that a simple statement about ICSI and girls has caused this, now THAT is silly! I think you're offended when everyone kept backing up my theory, which I have said numerous times I read somewhere and as you said if we can't share it here then what's the use or does that only apply to you? At the end of the day it was only something minor and I didn't realise it was
something big until I read your post this morning. This thread us for support and the sharing of info and also I have found the friendships to be so valuable but if it has come to something ugly then I won't be posting either. You continue your posts cos you are such a great source of info for everyone.
To everyone else- I hope you have a wonderful pregnancy and will pray for everyone's safe delivery of their precious bubs. We've all been through hell and back to get to this stage and you have all been very precious to me in my everyday life since I started this cycle and I couldn't have gotten this far without you. Lots of xxxxxx

Sorry to butt in here Girls

I just wanted to say that neither of you should leave the thread. Sometimes we just have to agree to dissagree. I don't really know the story, i think i read a couple of posts maybe so sorry if i am sticking my nose in where its not wanted. Can't we just blame it all on the Preggi Hormones or Moaning Hores as i like to call them:laughing: No seriously though, please don't go anywhere.

Lissy- that's ok you're not butting in. This forum is to me, for support. I have learnt so many things and different ways to cope while cycling on here that I wish i knew when I first began my journey. The unconditional support I get from people going through the sane thing as you, especially when I don't know anyone else personally doing IVF means so much to me. You guys, which I wouldn't know from a bar of soap have become such important part of my everyday life. But if it has turned into something ugly then I don't need to be a part of that. I think we all have enough stresses already :) don't worry I'll still be lurking and checking up on you guys, can't get rid of me that easily haha

Emma and Dragon - i really love both of you being here.

Sometimes, we will disagree...and sometimes...preggy women will say things that come out wrong or take things wrong.

I don't see where either of you have tried to offend the other.

Let's put this one down and move on.

hugs to all:flowerz:

Morning all:rain::gloomy:

Hate to see this lovely thread turn sour on a misunderstanding. Emma and Dragon please stay and play:shakehands:. It's just a little misunderstanding and happens so easily - I can understand that Dragon felt a little upset by Emma's posts but totally get that there was absolutely no intention of that, nothing more than a quick reply that maybe could be taken as a little harsh but wasn't meant to be at all. We're all victims of our mad hormones at the moment so this kind of thing is gonna happen sometimes. Let's move on hey...:flowerz::sunshine:

Anyway

Cazz - I'd be moving in with Mum too if a 3 week stay was on the cards, esp if your DP's father is such a pain. Yep, we've had names for a while too - Ted and Lila (Edward George / Lila Alice). I can't believe your friends would have stolen your name, that's so not cricket.

Jai - I know the amnio will be nervewracking but I would do the same in your shoes I think. Would just want to know. The risks are very low, I know you will be fine! Just make sure you rest up for two days afterwards. It will be so reassuring for you and you get to know the sex early too (if you want to!).

Zac - so glad the scan went well, the smiley pics sound wonderful! I just don't know how you could be so strong, not finding out:yelclap:. Really like your names

Herewego - Adam was on our list too, love it - really strong and classic. My DH is a bit of a feeder too, it's quite annoying at times!

MrsDay - I'm also waiting impatiently for the 19 week scan, it's excrutiating isn't it!

May - good luck with the scan today, hope bub is more cooperative. So cool to see your belly move!

EKMum - The tiredness is so hard - but hopefully when you hit 12 weeks it will lift. It was like magic for me!

Dragon - I can't believe people would bring a child into the world for the baby bonus. How can they possibly think that they will make a profit???

AFM - three weeks today till the 19 week scan. Got the day off tomorrow and going to visit the maternity shop as I'm down to just a few flowy tops and leggings. Time to bite the bullet.

Back on sleeping positions - does anyone know if there's a point after which you should stop sleeping on your belly? I stopped for a while cos my bb's were too sore but have started again and it's comfy but I wonder if I'm squashing stuff...?

Hey Everyone,

I have to say I completely agree with Peanut. I logged on this morning but was too stunned to post. I was stunned that such a small, insignificant, off the cuff question turned so nasty. I think we might have lost perspective

I would like to think that we can all feel comfortable and safe to mention anything on here without fear of being judged or belittled :( We all have our own opinions & that's what makes us fabulous! :flowerz:

I also think it's safe to assume that no one here wants to offend anyone! Sometimes those damn pregnancy hormones get the better of us :o So I hope both you lovelies stay with us!

Peanut - I don't think we'd still be talking to them if they stole our name  I'd like to think they were winding us up but it didn't come across that way. I love your names too!! I know a little girl named Lila and she's absolutely gorgeous! It's such a pretty name.

Jai - Hope you are enjoying day one of your hols!!! :sunshine:

May - I can't believe you can see your belly move!! That must be amazing! I love that Maltesers ad where they put the ball in their belly-button & the bub kicks it off. Sooo cute! Every time I see it I tell DP that I want to be able to do that! Can't wait to hear the results of your scan today!

Zac - Post some smiley pics on FB for us!!

Dragon - Your bro's partner sounds like a muppet!! She's obviously not very good at Maths! ha ha. Isn't the stat something like a million dollars to raise a child? A 5k baby bonus should come in handy then ;-)

AFM - I'm having the laziest day ever. I've already spent half the day looking at chests of drawers online for bubs. My BF gave me three big bags full of 0000 & 000 baby clothes the other day & I want to be able to start packing them away! Can anyone suggest a good place to look? I kind of want some that will be ok for when she's growing up too.

Has anyone thought about who they want with them for the birth (if anyone)? I'm really close to my mum & always thought I would like her there too but having second thoughts lately. Maybe it's just a time for DP & I? I spoke to my hairdresser the other day & she went in with her BF's birth! It would have been an amazing experience for her!

Cazz - I have been looking on gumtree and eBay for baby wardrobes. I was thinking of one of those half size ones that have drawers on one side and hanging space on the other, but I don't think they'll see the baby through to childhood. I was going to see what ikea have. All the wardrobes i've seen at baby shops are around $1700!

I'm at work so will post more later

I agree too but that was just how i was made to feel that my opinion didnt count and that Dragon was 100% right and i was wrong ..i think someone even said i was wrong i was tad offended that i was dismissed in such a manner and then i let it go and didn't bring it up again but then every other post was in around about way saying i said it was silly ...moving on now to better things ..i have apologsied from my mis understand in what i read into it that offended me and will not be bring it up again

Draws!!! i think posted some pics of what little start we have done with the girls room we got 4 drawer dresser from Ikea for about $250 (had to put it together myself ..nightmare) but check out the photos it might be something you might like

Emma - I'm really sorry you were offended. I'm sure no one meant that at all, I certainly didn't. It's just that I think we all felt a little protective of Dragon cos we could see how your response might have come off as a little gruff, even though I never thought that you meant it that way at all. So we were just making her feel better, no way did we want to then upset you:hugs:. Argh just one of those silly little things. We all love the support here and I'm sure we all understand this stuff happens and get on with it....

Ohhh dear my lovelys....lets not loose the love!!!!

We are all here to support each other.....but misunderstandings are bound to happen with the written word!
I would totally miss both of you if decided to lay low....so STAYYYYYYY!!!!

Cazz - we bought a pine chest of draws from a discount pine place and stained them the same colour as DD's cot - but if you were going for white etc you could always paint it? From memory we paid about $200 for it - but it will do through to adulthood. We also bought a change table that is actually draws and a cupboard with a change mat on top (from baby on a budget) which could also be used in a bedroom down track. As I said, we went with the wood theme though - so more versitile for us down track (we have lots of wood furnityre already).

Yep - it was amazing to see my belly move - however it was only a tiny 'blip' - dont think it would have moved a malteaser though! I love that ad too. I just happen to be looking at the right moment. Feeling lots of wriggling though.

We just came back from our second scan - it was better than the first - but bub was still being a bit of a monkey! They saw all the important stuff though and all is good. We didn't cave....so still a surprise for us!

Em - saw your pics of the starts to bubs room...very cute! I guess you are going to need double the storage space too! I was telling hubby all the names people have suggested so far and I could remember Shannon....but what is your other little cherubs name? Sorry....just call me scatterbrain!

Dragon - wow your brothers girlfriend sounds like a piece of work...but as Cazz said....she needs to do the maths! Frustrating that people accidently fall pregnant though, especially after what we have all been through!

Peanut - yay for your car....ohhhh new car smell! And I love Lila...such a pretty name!

We have a few names sort of picked out.....but girls i need your opinion on one. What do you think of Macey for a girl...is it too 'out-there'? I like names that are not common, but dont want to lable the child with a weirdo name either.

:hugs: to everyone!

gottabecrazy

May - Yep Shannon picked by DH (that was either boy or girl) and we have Taylah (picked by me) ..i like Macey i like kinda out there names DH on the other hand doesnt hence why he picked Shannon

I had a boys names picked out really at first (really only had the one thinking it was one at the time) and hadnt really thought of any girls names but if anyone like them feel free...we are struggling to come up with middle names ...we were going to go with a family name but they are all so ..whats the right word historic ..mmmmm old fashioned ..thats it ... i'd love to blend a few names but they just dont work ..and i'd love to use my nans name (R.I.P) but she hated her name for the record it was Theadora Judson ..Thea for short ...she hated it!! I think they wanted a boy LOL

Boys
Lucas
Logan

Girls
Rose
Brianne
Lily

Cant remember to rest of them off the top of my head ..but i had Brianne from when i was a little girl (it was a combo of my pop's name Brian and my aunt that passed 4mths before i was before Joanne) but DH's cousin has a daughter called Brianna and it was too close (she didnt steal it either so i think she has good taste)

Maybe Taylah Joanne or Taylah Rose ..mmmmm not sold on that ...Shannon Rose or Shannon Joanne ...mmmm not sold on that either

Picking names is hard work

May - I think Macey is a really sweet name. It's definitely not too out there. I hear all kinds of wacky names at school. The worst I think was Karisma, followed closely by Parriss (yes, that's how it was spelt).

I checked out that Baby on a budget online. I hadn't heard of it before, prob coz it's a Perth thing but it seemed to have lots of King Parrot stuff which I am leaning towards.

I so thought you'd cave at your scan! Good on you for staying strong! Sounds like you have a little wiggle worm there. Lookout when they come into the world!! ;)

naming babies, is very very hard! Agreeing with husbands on names is even harder lol

Our current list is:

Zoe
Tali
Maya

but it may change

middle name will be Violet (after my grandma)

I'm so glad that we don't have to chose boys ones as well!

We are hoping to have 5 that we both like and then we can decide when she makes her grand entrance!

Anyway...I went and saw my accupuncture guy today and had a really good chat (he is also a life coach). He thinks he can help with the placenta...and so is starting me on herbs and then another treatment next week. I should have seen him sooner but tbh I could not take on another "thing" to do. I feel a bit better already and a bit more centred emotionally.

The good thing is, that between meeting my inde midwife yesterday and all the thinking I've been doing I finally feel comfy with a c sect and a natural birth (although my pref def natural) and will be doing some planning with DH to make what ever happens special and sacred :-)

love all the names coming through....keep them up!

When you say you looking at king parrott are you talking cots?? i was looking at something like this (but i want to find it cheaper)

http://www.babybunting.com.au/index.php/cots/97057.html

Smiley - Ahh good needles LOL when you said on FB needles my first thought was getting blood taken ..re the C-Sec or Natural take your time deciding and do what you think is best for you and best for the bubs ....and yes picking names with DH is hard

Hi Girls,

Just wanted to join the names chat, we haven't had any serious chats about yet given that i am only 6 weeks but am starting to think about it a little more
This what we have at the moment:
Girls:
- Charli
- Chloe
- Ruby ( don't think DH likes this one though)

Boys: we are finding this hard
- Lucas
- Liam

I'm sure we will think of more later on
