hi my girl is 14 months old and is starting to look she is putting a bit of weight on and looking podgey. I usually give her 250ml bottle of milk in the morning with either wheatbix, porridge or a tub of yoghurt and for lunch i give her a sandwhich or something healthy to eat and some sultanas after that i usually give her a bottle of 250ml of milk and for dinner at about 6 she has vegies and meat and at about 8pm i give her another bottle of 250ml of milk. Because she looks like she is putting on weight since yesterday i am skipping the midday feed and see how she goes. I think she has enough food and a good appetite to be able to skip a bottle of milk at midday...

Do people agree with that!!! The reason why i am not giving her another bottle of milk at midday because she is putting on weight and plus it doesnt help when she isnt walking yet and being able to lose weight so i will see how she goes with that.

I think that, especially considering your bub isn't walking yet, 3 250mL drinks of milk AND porridge (with milk I assume), and yoghurt...well, that amount of dairy wouldn't do ANYONE any good in the weight department.

Toddlers, from what I have read, should have around 2 cups of milk a day...and if you want ot give cheese or yoghurt or something, then you just replace that with some of the milk. The 2 cups of milk includes milk used on cereals and things as well.

Angela,
I wouldn't be too concerned about bub looking a bit podgy! Babies/toddlers are all growing, and are supposed to put on weight.

I think that if she is eating well it would be fine to drop her lunch time milk though.
Just please don't be too concerned if she is putting on weight. That is not a bad thing.
As far as babies and toddlers go, I think it is ok to let them eat however much they want, as long as it is healthy. They know how much food they need.
