Prenatal classes too expensive

Im 5 months pregnant and have booked in to have my baby at a private hospital (really wanted my Obgyn to deliver him/her!) I really want to do pregnancy classes but they are over $300 at my hospital! Does anyone know if there are other classes available? I live in NSW in the inner-west - cheers :)

Just a suggestion but when I was doing my classes through the public hospital on the Central Coast of NSW we had a lady from the private hospital in the group. Maybe try just ringing your public hospitals.

My classes were only around $50.

Hi,

You could look up Childbirth Education Australia - see if they are in your area. They do antenatal classes. I've booked with them in Brissy, but I haven't yet started mine. But I've heard from a friend that they are very good.

The full course costs $190, but some health funds may give rebates.

Hi,

I did my classes through the public hospital at Liverpool and I know some private patients who attended the same classes (although this was over 2yrs ago, so it may have changed). From memory I think it was $70 for 6 weeks (2hr sessions) - I booked in through the ante-natal clinic - they're probably a good contact starting point for your local public hospital.

Thanks everyone, i am going to do the Childbirth Education classes, they are about half the price of the Private hospital and sound just as good! :o

WOW, I can't believe you"s have to pay for classes, when I did mine I didnt have to pay a thing.

I had no choice, my public hospital didn't have enough classes to go round - I only found out when I was week 23! Not happy, especially since I'd booked in a couple of months before :( .

I was glad I could get into the CEA ones, they include some postnatal stuff like baby massage etc, so it should be worth it.
