Hi all!!

I am putting this up for a friend of mine that is needing a 1st time mum
If you would like to either email her, or me I can pass it on.

NEEDED: FIRST TIME MOTHER WITH NEWBORN INFANT
AGE: INFANT YOUNGER THAN 3 MONTHS OLD
FOR: OBSERVATION TRAINING FOR PSYCHOLOGY STUDENT AT VICTORIA UNIVERSITY
PURPOSE: TO LEARN ABOUT EARLY INFANT DEVELOPMENT
DURATION: 1 HOUR WEEKLY FOR 8 WEEKS
PLACE: HOME OF MOTHER AND INFANT
TIME: WHEN CONVENIENT; REGULAR TIMESLOT; PREFERABLY DURING FEEDING/BATHING/PLAYING
REWARD: MY UNDYING GRATITUDE

I'm a 26 year old International student from Singapore, currently enrolled in the Doctor of Clinical Psychology course at Victoria University, residing in the CBD. As part of my clinical training, I am required to observe mother-infant interactions in their home for 1 hour each week over a period of 8 weeks.

The purpose of the observation is primarily to learn about early infant development and how infants fit into the family, as well as to learn and practise naturalistic "fly on the wall" observation techniques as a trainee psychologist.

This will be done as unobstrusive as possible at a time that is suitable for you. In terms of privacy, I am bound to confidentiality by professional psychological ethics (set out in the Australian Psychological Society's Code of Professional Conduct). I will be presenting my weekly observations for 5 minutes in class every week; however all names and other identifying information will not be disclosed. Written consent will be obtained before observation and it can be withdrawn at any time.

Although this is not a research investigation, and is not in any way an assessment of the infant or the family, some feedback about the observation experience will be possible at the end of 8 weeks. The family will also have the chance to discuss the experience that has been shared.

If you feel that you'd be able to help a student out, or if you know someone else who might be able to help, or even if you would just like to know more about the observations, please do not hesitate to contact me (Annabel) at fengyi.chan@students.vu.edu.au or 0433 246 990.

Many, many thanks in advance!
