Hi I have a 7 week old son and he is bottle feed was wondering how long he should go for at night without a feed he is going about 6 hrs when he only starts to make a few sounds but won't cry, should I wake him or let him sleep longer I live in darwin and don't want him to dehydrate.

I have been told not to bottle feed under 3hrs,
and i have heard of bottle feed babies sleeping that long from an early age.
so if you are worried my gp told me to give my baby some cooled boiled water inbetween feeds if i felt bub wasgetting constipated. As long as
he is putting on wait and is o.k, take the sleep while you can i say.:)

My son started sleeping through at about that age... (shame he dosnt still do it ..grr) I would think that he would be fine to go that long at night with out a feed and not get dehydrated. During the day time is a different story but as long as his room isnt boiling hot or anything like that i would say he'd be fine.
Enjoy the sleep while it last lol
As long as he is drinking enough when he does feed I wouldn't think there would be a problem.
I have never herd of not feeding under 3 hours. DS was about 6mths before he would last 3 hours between feed.
Each baby is different and will have different needs. Feed him when he needs to fed.

My DD is 7 weeks old and the majority of her feeds are 3/4 hourly but late afternoon/early evening she has a long sleep - anywhere from 5-8 hours. If your little one is having a long stretch, it's because his body is telling him too. He will wake if he is hungry or thirsty. If you are concerned because you live in a hot area, perhaps discuss the situation with your maternal health nurse or doctor.
