Does what we eat really pass through the milk and cause wind in babies?
When little miss Ivy has wind or gas pain people always assume its something ive eaten, they'll ask 'what have you been eating? you know you shouldn't eat ........'
I just eat what I've always eaten, if I stopped eating everything they say not to eat I'd be living on bread and water
So does anyone know if it actually true that certain food actually cause gas through breast milk and do you cut out certain foods?

Sure can. Nothing seemed to for DS.
DD however... cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, licorice (OMG, licorice. NOT eating it till she weans. Never, ever again! Worst night we've ever had!), plus a cows milk protein intolerance as well.
So I'm not having any of those at the moment :D

Hahaha that's exactly what I thought! If I stopes eating what people wanted me to eat I'd be having bread LOL
I never really bothered. I eat curry when I came home from the hospital. Eat chilli and garlic often. So much it actually comes out both dd and my pors  (so garlic does go through) eat peanuts(excellent fir your milk ) eat only fresh veggies every night and lots of chocolate and the occasional ice coffee
The curry did give her nappy rash but only that one time. And when she was younger I never could eat the combo of brocilie, cauliflower and cabbage. So I just would have two of the three. And I did have to limit the ice coffee down LOL
I'd say do what you feel and if you notice sometimes doesn't work limit it down and if you really like the food. Graduly build back up

It sure does with us too! I can't have orange juice or tomato based pasta sauce. Bubs also has a wheat protein intolerance so i have to have spelt bread and pasta. In has been so much better since i cut out trigger foods.

I have heard that it can but it's never been an issue with my 2.

Personally I have never had a problem, I know people who have said it does because they assume that something they ate yesterday has made their baby windy and grizzly today. IMO its probably just a coincidence most the time, nearly all babies get windy and grizzle, their babies, its what they do, unless you can record a specific pattern. Unless of course they are actually allergy or intolerance to specific foods which is a different story. Woman from all over the world breastfeed, woman from India dont cut out curries etc so why should there be a problem with us eating them, and that goes for all healthy foods. Yes we have to eat well and healthy, increase water intake, reduce sugars/caffeine etc. If your concerned about a particular food, keep a food diary and there should be consistent evidence.

It certainly can - it obviously varies from person to person, babies are individuals like the rest of us and so their digestive systems will react differently with different food.
I think the only way you will know what if any foods set your babe off is to try eliminating a food at a time to see if it is THAT food which is setting them off.
