maybe try and express after every feed to see if you need that extra boost but def give the ABA or CHN a call i love the ABA they are all very helpful

Hi butterflies,
Firstly :hugs: cos it can be stressful.
I think you need to stop giving her formula. The more formula she drinks the less milk from you and that will decrease your supply.
If DD has been feeding well and regulary then she could be going through a growth spurt. Have you tried increasing your supply at all? I take fenugeek tablets and blessed thistle tablets when my supply feels low or when I want to increase my EBM storage in the freezer. They work really well. You could try and dream feed her (you prob know but you feed her when shes asleep) this works with my DD as she doesnt fuss then and is happy to suck away. You can increase the number of BFs per day or overnight this way and this helps build supply. I also have a water bottle that I carry around with me and I make sure I finish it inbetween feeds so Im conscious of drinking enough water.
Good luck butterflies

4 months is an age where they suddenly can be more aware of their surroundings and start to have preferences about how they feed. It could be that your supply is low, but it could also be that your baby would like the milk to come out more quickly or for the let down to happen sooner. The pulling off could be a sign of frustration.

The bottle delivers the milk very quickly and the 'let down' is instant so it side steps this feeding problem. But introducing a bottle will likely drop your supply, and your baby won't learn to adjust to your body, and you will start to lose confidence which increases stress and slows let down. So if you want to continue breastfeeding I'd try to steer away from bottles.

Call the ABA, and take the suggestions of the girls who've told you how to increase supply, and focus on being calm while feeding. Have a dummy ready and sit Baby up as often as needed mid feed. This stage DOES pass. My baby is only 2-3 weeks older than yours and he has come out the other side of it already.

4 months is a very, very tough age. DS was feeding every 40-60 minutes for a few weeks. I mean he was CONSTANTLY on the breast and fussed the entire time. It's very, very common. Formula may help in the short time but will hurt your supply. Drink plenty of water and make sure you are doing everything possible to keep your supply up. But at 4 months the supply should be well established. Honestly, it just sounds like an awful stage, DS was rotten for about 4 weeks. Good luck, as PP say, call the ABA and see a MCHN. :hugs::hugs:

Hi. I have been both ff'ing and bf'ing (from boob and ebm) since bub's birth 12 weeks ago. For various reasons. Of course supply suffers when topping up with formula but I have managed to keep the amount of formula stable all the way through and even reduce the amount some days. What I'd like to say is that JUST IN CASE the advice from ABA or a consultant doesn't work out for you, instead of going onto formula only, send me a PM. I can give you some advice on combining the both. It has been super-stressful especially since I have worked it out on my own (no support here) but I think we are doing ok. Hope everything works out the way you want, though.:)

hey

Great news.... my DD is back on fulltime BM no more formula was given :yelclap:She had only had 1 bottle and then i jst wouldnt give up and kept trying to BF. I knew my supply wasnt an issue but she did have wind and was a bit over tired so maybe that was the cause

But :fingerscrossed: she stays BF im not ready to give up just yet. I enjoy our bonding time:smiliedance:
