I didn't finish Year 11 or 12.
I am applying to uni once i finish my diploma in children's services. And i'll be applying for the bachelor of early childhood... maybe primary teaching, but im not sure yet, because the bachelor qualifies me for kindergarten to year 2 teaching (which is all im interested in doing). I know that i can get into the bachelor course because i have completed the diploma, and i will have had relevant experience by then.
BUT, i think it is different for every subject... they used to have "mature age" student, where u could be over 21 and you could still get in, regardless of whether or not you completed year 11 and 12. But i don't think they have that any more? From memory i think its just referred to as "alternate entry" but like i said, i cant be sure.
Best off finding out which course your interested in doing, which uni's do it, and what the requirements are for getting into it
Good luck :hugs:

In WA we have something called a STATS test (Special Tertiary Admissions Test) which I did and it got me into uni. It was a test on one day (cost a little bit) that tested areas you would need to be competent in for uni. Call your local uni or ones close to you and ask them whats available-i just checked the QTAC website and you guys have STATS over there as well.
Some unis have Tertiary Preparation Programs that prepares you for university first. Some places you can do a certificate at TAFE (ie Cert III, IV, diploma-the level depends on the state you live in) that will satisfy entry into first year university. The Q-TAC website says that some TAFEs have a Certificate IV in Adult Tertiary Preparation that you could look into doing.
Anyway this is the QTAC website if you want to take a look yourself-tells you all about uni admissions for all QLD universities http://www.qtac.edu.au
Goodluck!
My advice is to contact the university you want to attend and talk to the faculty office about the best way to go about getting in as it depends on what course you want to eventually do. The only place I know about in any detail is The University of Sydney where they have a centre for Continuing Education (http://www-secure.cce.usyd.edu.au/cgi-bin/WebObjects/CCE.woa). Basically, depending on you desired degree, you take one of their courses (Maths, English, Psychology and so forth) and upon completion (which can be one or two semesters later) you can apply to the uni on the basis of those results.
You can also use these results to apply to other unis around NSW - not sure about interstate, though.
Many other unis offer these schemes. Call up and ask or at the very least set up a meeting with someone that can help.

If you have a look on the TAFE website there is a description of all the different ways you can obtain your year 11 or 12 qualifications. A UAC guide might tell you? or visit the website of the uni you are interested in.

open uni australia dont require yr 11 or 12
www.open.edu.au
it depends on where you are. If you are willing to a lot of places do the senior equivalence then you get a rank not an op and you can use that, just like an op to get in.
or there is the mature age option at most qld unis, you would have to do a test or something like that i think and it goes on work and life experience as well i think.
but like others suggested definetly get in touch with the unis and talk to them about what your best options are. i am in the same situation at the moment, so ill be hoping on the fones soon.

If you are over 21 you can enter Uni as a mature student. They look at your work experiences and life skills. They also look at previous study besides school that you have done. Why dont you ring the uni that you would like to enter about further info as they can tell you step by step what to do?
