interested in how other people went from full nappies to night time training, did your child let you know on the first night?? were they already trained during the day?? how old were they and how long did it take???
DD1 is 4 1/2 and still in nappies of a night...she wets three to four nights out of the week. I don't think you can 'train' them as such...unless you go along the lines of waking them to go to the toilet before you go to bed, withholding liquids etc. and I don't agree with that.
So we just make sure DD1 goes to the toilet just before bed, encourage her to drink lots of water through the day (she used to not drink much and then guzzle of a night...bad habit she got in to and took a long time to break due to her stubborness) and we wait until she's ready. One week straight of dry nights and we'll get rid of the nappies.

i guess im scared of confusing her...everyone says that nappies at night conuse her and i felt like we were starting tt again everyday, because she goes soooo much during the night. and i know what you mean about withholding liqids.......she is such a drinker!!! i HATE saying no
my girls are both day trained and they both know they have to wear nappies at night. I'm just not keen on getting up and changing sheets in the middle of the night...they're not ready, they don't wake up.
In my experience when a child is ready to tt it's easy....but if they're not it's hard and confusing. My girls know that when they wake up they are to take their nappies off, and they go on as we tuck them into bed.

Same in this household. DD is 4.5 and still in a pullup at night. Some nights she's dry, some nights she's wet. She just gets up in the morning and takes it off. DS is 2 and a bit and we're doing the day time toilet learning....with mixed results! It's not something I'm overly worried about. It will happen.

my ds is 2 and is fully trained during the day but not at night... I was advised to keep nappy at night till u get at least a week or 2 of just full dry nappies ... With me dd we stop giving her liquid at a certain time and did the whole waking up thing ect that's more stressful on both parent and child I think so we are trying a different way with ds.... Hopefully we will get it right with baby 3 lol

Night and day are completely different things. A friend of ours has a child the same age as DD and she was dry over night before mastering day time training. DD was dry before she was 1.5 and still in night nappies for another 6 months after that. My brother's friend as a kid was in night nappies for a long long time. I took him with us away for a competetion he and my little bro were both in and his mum pulled me aside to tell me he's not dry at night yet at the age of 12 so he's got these night nappies but he is very discreet, just asked if I could make sure he could get it from the bathroom to the bin without being seen by my brother because kids can laugh at other kids for those reasons. He's one of 8 kids and the only still in night nappies past the age of 5. Some were out of night nappies before their second birthday, others by 3, others at 5, he wasn't until not sure when, I only heard anything about it that once because he was in my care for that night.
DD1 was toilet trained during the day at 2 ant night trained 10wks later. I didnt realise i had run out of nappies and wasnt going to spend a fortune on them at the servo (it was christmas day) The next morning i was expecting the worst and she woke up dry. And since then she has only had the occasional accident. She had never had a dry nappy in the morning before then and going cold turkey worked for us.
