At monash we were told we were allowed to VT our csect but chose not to, I did get photos of it though and if I do have another bub I'll be VT'ing it for sure!
I imagine it depends ont he hospital and PERHAPS on who's doing the surgery so you'd have to check with your hospital to be sure :)
My understanding is that it depends on the Ob usually. Some dont mind - others do.
My hospital had a no video policy, only still pictures.

Our hospital allowed photos/videos of the actual birth and afterwards, but no video taping or photgraphic shots of any of the attending medical staff (obs, gp, paeds, nurses, anaesthetist etc).

I am not too sure about my hospital's standing on video but for still pics you were not allowed to have any of the staff in the photo's either unless you asked their permission, this included even their hands in the photo.
My Ob told me that we could take still photos but no video at the hospital I had DD (Sunnybank Private). I wondered if this was due to the fact that the footage could be used as evidence if one was to sue??? We didn't mind, as the staff took lots of photos of DH, DD and I and we were all very happy!!!
at our classes the midwife said that no video taping was allowed at all during the birthing process no matter how the kid was being born. so i guess it depends on the hospital. and when i asked why she said it was baisically along the lines of if someone ****s up the footage can be used as evidence. she didnt come right out and say it, but she hinted at it. but we asked one of the nurses in there to take some photos and she took several of them from the first moment you could see his little head, they are kinda icky to look at when youve just eaten, but they are the most precious fotos ever!

I remember commenting to DH when we heard the rules about not photographing the medical staff..."Maybe they're frightened the cameras will take away their souls!" I said.
But then again...obstetricians don't have souls do they!!!

I had c-section on 25-5-06 and my hubby went photo happy, but he did take short vids from the digital camera that we had. But all shots were taken from where he was sitting at my head and the anethitis took some as well. He also took vids when he cut the cord when the baby was with the ped and being weighted etc.
No one said anything. His 13 yr old son got a bit woosiieee from what vids where taken.

Our hospital wouldn't allow videotaping in the OR. Not that I would have wanted to video my C-section anyway.
