can anyone answer my q's please

Hi , I am fairly new here more a lurker than a poster ! lol
I am just wondering if anyone has had a tubal ligation reversal, or may know someone who has? I have been seeing my gyno for a few months now and he is telling me that I need 2 have 2 laparoscopy's in order 2 have it done.This conflicts what I have read on the internet about it etc.I dont have any private health insurance and am paying 2 have the first lap done in 2 weeks 2 avoid the waiting lists in the public hosp.Therfore if possible would rather just have 1 procerdure if possible.Does anyone know anywhere in melbourne where I could get this done? Sorry about the novel! But dont know where else I can maybe find some answers.TIA

Sorry, i dont have any answers for you - its possible that your gyno has decided the procedure is best done successfully in 2 lots, maybe it cant all be done in the one procedure. Did you ask why it would require 2 lots? Maybe you could call and ask if you are unable to visit. Maybe the 2nd lap is to check they are joined back together successfully and can only be done at a later time period? (Sorry - just realised there are a lot of 'maybe's' there!:D )

Just for interests sake (i have to have a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy but need to see the spec first) how much in total have they said you have to pay for your lap? Only as i too do not have private health and im wondering how much im going to have to cane my credit card!!!

THANKS 4 THE REPLY! YES I DO KNOW WHY HE SAYS I HAVE 2 HAVE IT DONE IN 2 LOTS , HE SAYS HE CANNOT DO THE PROCEDURE HIMSELF AS YOU NEED MICROSURGERY 2 REATTATCH (sp?) THE TUBES. SO HE WANTS 2 DO A LAP 2 MAKE SURE EVTHING IS OK IN THERE THEN HE SAYS HE WILL REFER ME ON 2 ONE OF HIS COLLEAGUES IN MELB 2 DO THE PROCEDURE ! IT JUST SEEMS LIKE A WASTE OF TIME FOR HIM 2 DO A LAP ON ME AT ALL WHEN HE COULD REFER ME 2 HIS COLLEAGUES AND I COULD JUST HAVE ONE OP. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT IT WILL BE CHEAPER WHEN HIS COLLEAGUES DO THEIR LAP ON ME COS APPARENTLY YOU DONT GET CHARGED FOR THE HOSPITAL STAY HUST THE SURGEON AND ANAETHETIST FEES. WHICH SOUNDS BETTER 2 ME! FOR HIM 2 DO MY LAP THE PRICES ARE :$366.75 APPROX SURGEON FEE (REBATE FROM MEDICARE) , $350-400 APPROX ANAETHETIST FEE (REBATE FROM MEDICARE) , $1216- APPROX FEE FOR HOSPITAL (NOT REFUNDABLE AT ALL BY MEDICARE!) . HOWEVER HE DID SAY IT WAS GOING 2 BE HEAPS CHEAPER WHEN I HAVE IT DONE IN MELB AS NO HOSP FEES SO COULD BE CHEAPER FOR YOU WHEREEVER YOU ARE. HOPE THIS HELPS!
