hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has had experience of having an operation and then bf? I have to have surgery when my DD will be around 6 months. I'll be going under general anaesthetic and in hospital for about 3-5 days. I'll also have to do a preparatory (liquid?) diet beforehand.

does anyone know if it would be safe to bf after waking up, or do you think i would have to express and wait till the drugs wore off (ie pump and dump). I know she might be eating some food by then but I don't want to wean her just bc of this.

Would love to hear from anyone with a similar experience.,

I had surgery two weeks ago under general and was advised to pump and dump the first feed after surgery but was fine to feed after that. I just had a bottle of EBM ready for the feed I would miss and gave him a feed just before going into surgery.
So he had a feed from me about 6 hours after surgery and it didnt seem to affect him at all.
