maternal serum w/twins (& a gender question)

I have scan tomorrow, i'm only 17w4d, but basically i've been told that the maternal serum test results/levels get thrown out of whack with a twin pregnancy, so I requested a scan just to be sure there was two bubbas there while i'm still inside the testing window. I am aware now that I could've had the nuchal fold screening at 12w, but wasn't made aware of that at my 12w check up so have missed the window for that.
Just curious to see if others expecting twins went through with the maternal blood test, or if waiting for the morphology at20w is a better indicator??

Also... has anyone been able to have the gender of their little one/s picked up at a scan this early?? (oram I getting just a little too excited)

i did the scan at 12wks so im not doing anything else test wise except u/s about every 2 to 3wks if babys are in good pozzy you can find out there sex mine are not coprative at all and my 20wks took a lot longer than normal and it was a stuggle to get them to open there legs at all but we know what were having good luck with everything
