Hi everyone

Our 17 month old is cutting his canines at the moment (I think all four!) and is absolutely miserable and sleepless. They seem to be much worse than the other teeth so far. Has anyone else found trouble with the canines? We are exhausted and don't know what to do to help relieve him. Any advice welcome!

oh honey I sympathise .. my DS is currently cutting his third fourth and fifth tooth at the same time (he HAS two bottom teeth - but he is now getting one front one and both top canines)

he has had temps .. the red cheeks .. the rash on his bottom (only for 24hrs thank goodness) and a TEMPER!!!! OMG!!! with his first two teeth,... there were no dramas... I didn't know they were even COMING!!!

he isn't interesting in teething rings.. so I have been using the hylands (sp?) teething tablets (natural) during the day .. and the occasional panadol dose at night .. I dont know what else to do either - I offer the occasional frozen washer too - he loves chewing on them ..

I guess I just wanted to sympathise .. lol .. its HORRID!!! but look on the bright side... the more teeth they cut at once.. the quicker the pain is over (there has to be a silver lining somewhere!!!)

I have an almost 18 month old (Sophie) and a Jack too. DD has had about 3 sleep throughs since she was 12 months old. I am sure the majority of it has been due to teething. She is now getting her stomach and eye teeth as well and some nights I have to sit and nurse her. It is totally exhausting and I am also doing some work again now. I know exactly how you feel and I am at my wits end about it, but apart from the panadol/nurofen I give her, I don't know what else to do. I think we just have to grin and bear it. My DS also went through this but for short periods (A couple of sleepless weeks - never 6 months!!). He now however sleeps up to 13 hours per night, so there is light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck. I am sure you are doing all the right things. I also tried letting DD cry for a bit longer before going to her and sometimes she would actually go back to sleep on her own.
