Hi

Just wondering if any one's bubs have had a similar thing to this and what it may be?

EJ over the last day has been getting a really productive cough which sounds shocking sometimes. I took her to the doc this morning though he said her chest is clear and didnt want to give her antibiotics as she's feeding well, eating solids, playing and has no other symptoms of a cold at pres apart from an occasional sneeze (she had one a couple of weeks ago though)

She is teething though (and irritable cause of that mainly) and has just cut a tooth but isnt drooling, the doc said shes probably swallowing it. Is it possible the way the cough sounds could be from the drool pooling in her mouth cause of the teething?

Any ideas/help would be great

Thanks.

Thanks I'll have to try that with the shower if the same happens tonight that happened yesterday.

I ended up taking her to emergency (better to be safe than sorry in my opinion) cause for nearly 3 hours last night it was nearly all massive coughing fits with gagging which was terrible as soon as she tried to sleep :( All was ok with her and they think is just some sorta upper respitory thing though today her nose has started to run also :(

Sounds similar to my night with DD last night.... DD had a small cough for a couple of nights, no other syptoms then last night she was doing big "barks" and was unconsolabe. She didnt get to sleep unti 1am and then I slept with her and she woke coughing/crying/groaning every hour or so. Now also has a runny nose and is sneezing. Went to the doctor this morning and he said it was croup....gave her an oral steroid to help clear her airways so fingers crossed for tonight. We have also bout a vaporiser for her room as that should work similar to the shower.......

Its so heartbreaking when you feel helpless...

I had inflamation of the trachea (windpipe) a few weeks back and that sounded like a productive cough and was mucousy but it was coming from my neck rather than chest. There are a few virus' going around causing that sort of thing at the moment apparently.

Well after another horrible night last night which included a fever (though not as bad coughing as Wed.) I went to see another doc just before who said it was croup (well he didnt actually call it that he called it laringeotracheobronchitis) he heard her cough and shes also lost her voice which is a sign of it also :( He gave her antibiotics though but didnt give her any steroids.

I tried the hot shower trick which made her really upset being in the room with the steam though later on it did seem to ease the cough alot
