Hello lovely mummies :)

I am hoping to find others who may have a thyriod condition and are breast feeding - or anyone that can offer me some advice!

Sorry here is the background so you can help me...

I have graves disease which was detected just prior to my pregnancy. As I was starting IVF the specialist decided not to start me on medication. During my pregnancy because of the hormones my levels were good (as the specialist predicted). I have a blood test tomorrow to again check my levels but I know they are going to be out as I am getting symptoms again.

Ok, so my DD (10 wks) was going great guns with weight gain but over the past 3 weeks has slowed right down and is gaining now 50g a week when she use to gain 200g a week. The CHN told me it could be my thyriod affecting her. She has also told me it could be wheat intolerance as her poo's have been really runny like water lately (sorry if TMI) - now I am cutting out wheat to see if that helps. The CHN also said that DD could have silent refulx??

So my question is, has anyone had their thyriod condition affect their babies weight gain?

I dont know what else to do to help her gain weight, I know my milk supply isnt the problem and am starting to worry what I should do. I have presure from people to put her on formula 'as that will boost her weight gain' but I dont want to do that.

Thanks for any advice or assistance, I really dont know what else to try.

Sonja

i don't have any firsthand experience or knowledge of your specific concern but big :hugs: and i hope someone comes soon to help. Just keep feeding as that will keep up your supply and your milk may not be the issue at hand at all. Babies weight gains do decrease as they get older and the way to be assured that they're getting what they need is to feed on demand, their alertness and settledness and number of wet nappies. Some bubs are happy and healthy with only small weight gains the whole way along.
just did a google search and cae up with this
