This might get a bit long. Sorry.
Well my little one's b'day is a long way away I know but DH and I were just making conversation last night and the subject came up.
thing is my cousin and I had our bubs only 2 days apart and her baby's 1st b'day falls exactly on a sat so she's going to have the big party on that day together with christening. So we want to do it day after on the sunday. Don't worry family loves parties and they'll fine two days in a row.
We just want to do something different so there's no two kids parties at home two days in a row. With my oldest son we also experienced that when they are 1 they don't really know what's happening and sometimes it gets a bit much for them and the adults enjoy it more than the little one. ok
So family members are about 25-30 and I want ideas of where to do it apart from home. Any ideas for venues in Melbourne. Where did you do your kids parties? Somewhere where both kids and adults will be comfortable. Food is important too :) Send ideas my way please

I don't know about Melb, but we live in Qld and are having a BBQ at a park by the beach...

For my DD 1st birthday we had a Teddy Bears Picnic and it was fantastic!

We asked all the kids to bring their favourite doll or teddy and had a play picnic with them. We took along a toy tea set and a picnic rug just for the teddies/dolls. The kids thought it was fantastic.

The park I chose (Emerald lake park) had large shelters for hire that were right near a playground so it didnt matter if it rained. There were lots of nice walking tracks and duck feeding for entertainment.

There was a barbeque available there where we cooked up some sausages and hamburgers. We asked each family to bring along a plate of finger food, everyone was more than happy to bring something along so it really took the pressure off me to supply a lot of food. Of course everyone tried to outdo each other it what they could make so the variety of food was fantastic (including teddy bear shapes shortbread and a teddy bear shaped chocolate cake).

Have fun and enjoy the big day! I can guarantee it will be a day you will never forget
